DePauw Takes Fall Lead In NCAC All-Sports Race

CLEVELAND, OH -- DePauw University earned two league titles and top-five finishes in all seven sports during the fall season to take the early lead in the race for the 2025-26 North Coast Athletic Conference All-Sports Championship. 

The Tigers claimed the men's soccer title and a share of the field hockey title, while football took second, women's soccer earned a share of second, women's cross country placed third, and both men's cross country and volleyball earned fifth. DePauw closed out the fall season with 63.5 points and a four-point lead over John Carroll (59.5) for the coveted Dennis M. Collins All-Sports Trophy. 

The Blue Streaks captured three outright titles, capturing the men's cross country, football and women's soccer crowns, and secured second in both women's cross country and volleyball, while earning a share of fifth in men's soccer. Denison sits in third two points behind JCU with 57.5 points after earning a share of the Big Red's league-leading 14th field hockey title and posting top-four finishes in four of the other six fall sports. Denison took second in men's soccer, earned a share of second in women's soccer, and placed fourth in both football and volleyball.

Kenyon and Ohio Wesleyan are in a tie for fourth with 49.5 points apiece. The Owls' fall was highlighted by men's cross country earning a runner-up finish and men's soccer placing fourth, while the Battling Bishops collected the women's cross country title, a share of the field hockey crown and a third-place showing in volleyball. Wittenberg sits in sixth with 46.5 points after capturing the Tigers' league-leading 27th NCAC volleyball title and placing fourth in both women's cross country and field hockey. Wooster currently sits in seventh with 41.5 points, while Oberlin is eighth with 31.5 points and Wabash rounds out the fall standings with 22 points.

The All-Sports champion earns the Dennis M. Collins All-Sports Trophy, given annually to the school that performs the best across the NCAC's 23 sports. Eleven points are awarded for a first-place finish, ten for a second, nine for a third, and so on. Men's and women's performances are combined, exemplifying the North Coast's commitment to equity and balance among programs. Wooster won three of the first four All-Sports championships, interrupted only by Denison in year two. Ohio Wesleyan followed with a six-year run, leading to titles by Wooster (twice), Wittenberg (once), Denison (nine), OWU (twice), and then a tie between Denison and OWU in 2009. Wittenberg earned its second All-Sports title in 2010, followed by Denison in 2011 and DePauw in 2012. Denison then claimed back-to-back titles in 2013 and 2014, before DePauw regained the championship in 2015. The Big Red reclaimed the title after the 2015-16 academic year, followed by DePauw in 2017 before Denison once again earned back-to-back titles the next two years. An all-sports trophy was not awarded in 2020 or 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Big Red then secured four-straight titles from 2022-25 to collect the last six trophies.

Denison leads the way with 189 team championships during the NCAC's 42 playing seasons. Ohio Wesleyan is next with 167 titles, followed by Kenyon (143), Wittenberg (127), Allegheny (119), Wooster (85), DePauw (52), Wabash (36), Oberlin (27) Case Western Reserve (9), John Carroll (3) and Hiram  and Earlham (2).
