DePauw’s Nowak, Ohio Wesleyan’s Markell Named to NFCHA Senior Team

MANAHAWKIN, NJ – DePauw senior forward Hailey Nowak (Oak Park, IL/Oak Park & River Forest) and Ohio Wesleyan senior midfielder Alyssa Markell (Leesburg, VA/Loudoun County) were selected to the 2025 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Senior Team, announced Thursday, November 20.
 
Nowak and Markell are two of 60 student-athletes from 45 different Division III institutions selected to be on the 2025 NFHCA Senior Team. Student-athletes were selected to the team by the NFHCA to pay tribute to their collegiate careers and to acknowledge and celebrate their accomplishments and impact on and off the field.
 
Nowak appeared in 18 games with 17 starts this season and emerged as the team’s top offensive threat, leading the roster with 11 goals, eight assists, and a team-best 30 points. She is a three-time First Team All-NCAC honoree and a member of the NCAC Dr. Gordon Collins Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll and NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad. In her rookie season, the forward was named the 2023 NCAC Newcomer of the Year, earned a spot on the Synapse Sports Division III All-Rookie Team, and collected Second Team NFHCA All-Region honors in her debut season. Over the course of her career, Nowak played in 72 games with 69 starts for 3,660 minutes on the field, producing 23 assists and 51 goals, 16 of which were game winners, for 125 points, while adding 162 shots and averaging a .645 shots-on-goal percentage.
 
Markell started 12 of her 13 games played this season after returning from injury and made her mark as a defensive presence in the midfield, while adding two assists on the offensive end. She was recently named First Team All-NCAC for the third consecutive season and previously earned two Second Team NFHCA All-Region accolades. The midfielder also excelled academically, earning three selections to the NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad and being named to the NCAC Dr. Gordon Collins Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll and College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® twice. Across her four-year career, Markell appeared in 71 games with 69 starts for a total of 3,655 minutes played, tallying nine assists and 13 goals, four of which were game winners, for 35 points. She also finished with 102 shots and averaged a .510 shots-on-goal percentage.
