NCAC Athletes of the Week | Dec. 9

Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week – Brady Kunka, DePauw
DePauw junior guard Brady Kunka (Naperville, IL/Benet Academy) led the Tigers to a 2-0 week with a pair of conference victories over Wabash (89-79) and Kenyon (84-62). Kunka scored 21 points, while shooting 9-for-13 from the floor and adding four rebounds and one assist in DePauw’s win over the Little Giants. Against the Owls, the junior tallied 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field, while adding seven rebounds and one steal. On the week, he averaged 17.0 points and 5.5 rebounds.
 
Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week – Abby Cooch, Denison
Denison junior point guard Abby Cooch (Clifton, CA/Bishop Ireton) led the Big Red to a 2-0 week with a conference win over DePauw (59-52) and a non-conference victory over Case Western (74-61). Cooch poured in 19 points against the Tigers, while adding three steals and one assist. In the win over the Spartans, the point guard recorded 18 points, two steals, and one assist. On the week, Cooch averaged 18.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.5 assists per game.
 
Men’s Swim & Dive Athlete of the Week – Jack Hill, Denison
Denison junior Jack Hill (Leighton Buzzard, U.K./Cedars Upper) collected seven first-place finishes, while posting six NCAA Division III ‘B’ cut marks, three varsity records and one pool record to help the Big Red defeat top-ranked Emory at the Denison Invitational. Individually, Hill took first with NCAA B-cuts in the 100 freestyle (43.62), the 200 individual medley (1:47.60), and the 200 free (1:35.18). The junior’s mark in the 200 free established a new varsity record. Hill was a member of the winning 200- (1:19.44), 400- (2:54.96) and 800 (6:28.19) freestyle relays and the 400 medley relay (3:12.93). The 400 and 800 free’s were both varsity records, while the 400 free also topped the pool record. 
 
Women’s Swim & Dive Athlete of the Week – Shania Stone, Wittenberg
Wittenberg senior Shania Stone (Cincinnati, OH/Princeton) captured a school record at the Wooster Invitational. Stone set a new record in the prelims of the 50 freestyle (23.94) and then in the finals broke her own record in a time of 23.78 to collect first place. The senior earned first in the finals of the 100 breaststroke with a lifetime best time of 1:05.88. Stone was also a part of the 400 medley relay team that took first.
 
Men’s Indoor Sprints/Hurdles Athlete of the Week – Josh Greville, Kenyon
Kenyon senior Josh Greville (Kane, PA/Kane Area) placed eighth out of 27 in the 400-meter dash (49.45) to set a new Kenyon indoor record at the Wittenberg Opener. Greville toppled the 50.97 mark set by Noah Winters in 2014. He also posted a 16th-place finish out of 49 runners in the 200 (22.90).
 
Men’s Indoor Distance/Mid-Distance Athlete of the Week – Basheer Alramahi, John Carroll
John Carroll senior Basheer Alramahi (Westlake, OH/Westlake) took first in the 800-meter run at the Youngstown State Icebreaker. Alramahi recorded the fastest time in the country so far this season in his first ever run of the event in his career, crossing the line in 1:51.78.
 
Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week – Nick Farfoglia, Wittenberg
Wittenberg junior Nick Farfoglia (Manchester, MD/Manchester Valley) won the Heptathlon at the Oiler Open with a school record performance of 4,556 points. That mark currently leads the conference and is ranked ninth nationally. He recorded personal best performances in five of the seven events. 
 
Women’s Indoor Sprints/Hurdles Athlete of the Week – Dakota Houston, John Carroll
John Carroll sophomore Dakota Houston (Beachwood, OH/Beachwood) recorded a new personal best and broke her own school record in both the 60-meter dash (7.54) and 200-meter dash (24.21). Her time in the 200 also broke the YSU Icebreaker meet record and ranks seventh all-time in Division III (all conditions).
 
Women’s Indoor Distance/Mid-Distance Athlete of the Week – Ariella Sobel, Kenyon
Kenyon sophomore Ariella Sobel (Scarsdale, NY/Scarsdale) earned a sixth-place finish in the 400-meter dash at the Wittenberg Opener with a program-record time of 59.62. Sobel eliminated the old Kenyon standard of 1:00.23, which was established by both Kirkley Doyle and Beth Dahlburg in 2012.
 
Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week – Kerrington Harper, Wittenberg
Wittenberg first-year Kerrington Harper (Mason, OH/Mason) collected a runner-up finish in the long jump with a mark of 5.37 meters, which is currently the top mark in the conference and ranks 22nd nationally. She also finished fifth in the high jump with a leap of 1.56 meters, which is also currently the best mark in the NCAC.
 
NCAC Milestones & Records (Dec. 1-7)
 
Denison, Men’s Swimming & Diving – Against Emory at the Denison Invite, junior Jack Hill (Leighton Buzzard, U.K./Cedars Upper) set a new varsity in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:35.18 … Hill along with sophomore Harry Parsons (San Rafael, CA/Bay School), first-year Sam Hibbert (Toronto, Canada/Crestwood Prep), and sophomore Nick Hensel (Houston, TX/St. Johns) set a varsity record in the 400 free relay (2:54.96) … In the 800 free relay, Hill, Hensel, sophomore George Goins (Charlotte, NC/McCallie School (TN)) and junior Luke Swiggett (Berkeley, CA/Berkeley) posted a varsity and pool record (6:28.19).
 
Denison, Women’s Indoor Track & Field – Sophomore Mira Renaldi (Plymouth, MI/Canton) broke the program record in the 60 hurdles in a time of 9.16, surpassing Caliyah Bennett, who set the record in 2023 (9.17).
 
DePauw, Men’s Basketball - Junior guard Brady Kunka (Naperville, IL/Benet Academy) scored a career-high 21 points in the Tiger’s 89-79 win at Wabash which snapped a four-game losing streak to the Little Giants in Crawfordsville.
 
John Carroll, Women’s Basketball – Senior Graci Semptimphelter (Franklin, TN/Battle Ground Academy) set a new school record with nine three-pointers made, while achieving a career-high 37 points in a 96-70 win over Brockport. JCU also set a team record for three-pointers with 18. 
 
John Carroll, Women’s Indoor Track & Field - Sophomore Dakota Houston (Beachwood, OH/Beachwood) ran a new personal best and broke her own school record in both the 60-meter dash (7.54) and 200-meter dash (24.21). Her time in the 200 also broke the YSU Icebreaker meet record and ranks seventh all-time in Division III (all conditions) … Sandra King recorded a new school record in the 400-meter dash, crossing in 57.63.

Kenyon, Women’s Indoor Track & Field - Sophomore Noa Helmbrecht (Lexington, MA/Lexington) placed fourth in the 300-meter race, crossing the line in 42.46 and erasing the old Kenyon mark of 44.01 set by Rani Woodard from 1992 … Classmate Ariella Sobel (Scarsdale, NY/Scarsdale) earned a sixth-place finish in the 400-meter dash at the Tiger Opener with a program-record time of 59.62. Oberlin, Men’s Indoor Track & Field - Senior Namu Makatiani (Nairobi, Kenya/George School) opened his season in spectacular fashion at Case Western Reserve’s 12th Annual Spartan Alumni Holiday Classic, breaking the Oberlin triple jump record twice in one meet.
Makatiani launched a school-record 14.48 meters on his first attempt and then surpassed it with a 14.55-meter jump on his fourth attempt to win the event and establish a new program benchmark. His mark currently leads the conference by 1.30 meters and ranks sixth in Division III.
 
Oberlin, Women’s Indoor Track & Field - Senior Anna Fritz (Oberlin, OH/Oberlin) posted two personal bests at Case Western Reserve’s 12th Annual Spartan Alumni Holiday Classic. In the long jump, she recorded a mark of 5.30 meters to place fourth, which currently ranks second in the conference. She followed with her fastest time in the 60-meter hurdles, crossing in 9.38 in the prelims, a time that ranks fourth all-time in Oberlin history.
 
Wabash, Men’s Indoor Track & Field - Wabash first-year Brock DeBello (North Salem, IN/Tri-West HS) broke the school record in the indoor 300-meter dash in his first collegiate race on Saturday at the Wittenberg Opener. DeBello finished the race in 35.16 to eclipse the old mark of 35.32 set by Joel Whittington in 2012.
 
Wittenberg, Men’s Indoor Track & Field – In the Tiger Opener, the 4x400 meter team of sophomore Jack Kittle (Chagrin Falls, OH/ Chagrin Falls), seniors Cameron Elliott (Springfield, OH/Springfield) and Mason Duncan (Cardington, OH/Highland) and sophomore Dashawn Seye (Centerville, OH/Centerville) set a new school record with a time of 3:16.54 … Kittle finished the 400m dash in a new school record time or 47.59 to take first, which also ranks as the fastest in the league and fourth nationally so far this season … Junior Lukas Rieben (Clayton, OH/Northmont) ran a personal best time of 14:54.43 in the 5000 meter run which currently leads the conference and ranks 14th nationally … Junior Nick Farfoglia (Manchester, MD/Manchester Valley) won the Heptathlon at the Oiler open with a school record performance of 4,556 points after recording personal best performances in five of the seven events. That mark currently leads the conference and is ranked ninth nationally … Sophomore Elijah Simmons (Jacksonville, FL/Groveport Madison (OH)) broke the school record in the 200-meter dash crossing in 21.76.
 
Wittenberg, Women’s Basketball – In a 65-60 overtime win over Ohio Northern on Saturday, junior Madi Barnett (Cincinnati, OH/Kings) recorded a career-high 23 points, going 9-for-17 from the field and 5-for-6 from the line. Along with her career high, Barnett added three rebounds and two assists.
 
Wittenberg, Women’s Swimming & Diving - On day one of the Wooster Invitational, senior Shania Stone (Cincinnati, OH/Princeton) set a school record in the prelims of the 50 freestyle with time of 23.94. Later, in the finals, Stone then broke her own record in a time of 23.78 to place first.
 
Wooster, Men’s Swimming & Diving - The 2025-26 squad broke four program records at the Wooster Invitational. The quartet of first-year Hayden Price (Canfield, OH/Canfield), senior Boston Sullivan (North Canton, OH/Hoover), senior Will Laymon (Mt. Vernon, OH/Mt. Vernon), and senior Callum Glover (Houston, TX/Stratford) turned in a program-record of 3:22.78 on night one in the 400 medley relay. Price's 49.80 as the 100 backstroke leadoff leg broke the program's seven-year-old record in the event … On Friday, Price, Sullivan, Laymon, and Glover raced to the winning time of 1:32.66 in the 200 medley relay, which broke the program's 12-year-old school record … Sullivan went on to break the program's 12-year-old 100 breaststroke record with a time of 56.32.
 
Wooster, Women’s Swimming & Diving – The 2025-26 squad won the Wooster Invitational for the second-straight year.
