NCAC Athletes Compete on Day-2 of NCAA Indoor T&F Championships

ROCHESTER, NY – Four North Coast Athletic Conference student-athletes competed on Saturday, March 15, at the 2025 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships in Rochester, New York.
 
Wabash senior Will Neubauer (South Bend, IN/John Adams) earned first-team All-American honors after placing eighth in the finals of the 800-meter run, crossing the line in 1:53.48.
 
In the men’s high jump, Ohio Wesleyan sophomore Connor Smith (Marysville, OH/Marysville) finished tied for 13th-place and earned second-team All-American honors with a clearance of 2.00 meters (6’ 6.75”), while Wittenberg junior Taylor Weiss (Powell, OH/Olentangy Liberty) recorded a mark of 1.60 meters (5’ 3.00”) to earn 19th-place in the women’s event.
 
In the men's triple jump, Oberlin junior Namu Makatiani (Nairobi, Kenya/George School (PA)) took center stage, placing 14th with a jump of 14.35 meters (47’ 1.00”) to earn second-team All-American honors.

In total, NCAC student-athletes secured 11 All-American citations at the 2025 Division III Championships. In addition to the three honors on Saturday, eight citations were earned on Friday. Hiram first-year Gavin Dunn (Apopka, FL/West Oaks Academy) collected the only first-team nod on Friday after upping his school record with a leap of 7.38 meters (24’ 2.50”) to place fourth in the men’s long jump. Seven NCAC competitors earned second-team honors, as Denison senior Chris Slater (Hudson, OH/Hudson) recorded a distance of 18.26 meters (59’ 11.00”) to place 13th in the men’s weight throw. In the 60-meter hurdles, fellow Big Red senior Ari Skolnik (Glencoe, IL/New Trier Township) crossed the line in 8.160 seconds for a 15th-place finish in the men's event, while just 0.06 seconds separated Ohio Wesleyan first-year Katherine Dortmund (Westerville, OH/Columbus St. Francis DeSales) and Wooster senior Daysia Hargrave (Orrville, OH/Orrville), who finished 15th (8.872) and 16th (8.878) in the women’s race. Wittenberg senior Meghan Frazier (Alliance, OH/Alliance) finished 16th in the 400 in a time of 57.24 seconds, while Wabash senior Brayden Curnutt (Kokomo, IN/Western) placed 15th in the 5,000 after timing in at 14:34.46. DePauw senior Katie Moore (Lawrenceville, IL/Lawrenceville) competed in the women's pentathlon and recorded a career-high 3,529 points to earn ninth place after collecting 875 points in the 60-meter hurdles (9.17 seconds), 701 points in the high jump (5’01.75”; 1.57m), 558 points in the shot put (34’ 2.75"; 10.43m), 645 points in the long jump (17' 5.25"; 5.31m), and 750 points in the 800-meter run (2:25.52).
