North Coast Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week | April 1, 2025
 
Baseball Player of the Week – Nick Pett, Wooster
Wooster senior Nick Pett (Perrysburg, OH/St. John's Jesuit) helped guide the Fighting Scots to a 4-0 week after posting a .688 batting average, .650 on-base percentage, and 1.250 slugging percentage. Pett went 11-for-16 with 11 RBI, five scored runs, three doubles, and two home runs. He led the way in Saturday's 15-12 and 13-3 victories over Ohio Wesleyan, going 5-for-8 with six RBI, three scored runs, two doubles, and a homer. Pett recorded multiple hits in all four games, including a 2-for-3 performance with three RBI in Tuesday's 13-4 win over La Roche, and a 4-for-5 effort with two RBI, two runs, and a solo home run in Wednesday's 8-5 win over Heidelberg.

Baseball Pitcher of the Week – Jack Spring, Wooster
Wooster junior Jack Spring (Pflugerville, TX/Brentwood Christian) earned the win in Wednesday's 8-5 victory over Heidelberg. The right-hander did not allow an earned run over six innings, while striking out seven and scattering four hits.
 
Women’s Golf Athlete of the Week – Morgan Erdmann, Wooster
Wooster sophomore Morgan Erdmann (Dublin, OH/Dublin Jerome) earned medalist honors at the rain-shortened Mount Union Spring Invitational after firing a 77. The sophomore’s 77 was  four strokes below her season best and just one stroke off her collegiate low round. Erdmann's score was two shots clear of the field and was highlighted by three birdies and an even-par stretch across holes six through 18.
 
Men’s Lacrosse Athlete of the Week – Luke Marascio, Denison
Denison first-year face-off specialist Luke Marascio (Rumson, NJ/Rumson Fair Haven Regional) dominated at the face-off x, going a perfect 31-for-31 during the Big Red’s wins over No. 16 York (12-11) and Hiram (23-3). Marascio was 8-for-8 against York and 23-for-23 against Hiram, tying the NCAC record with a pair of perfect face-off performances. The rookie also tied the NCAC single-game record with 21 ground balls against Hiram. Across both games, Marascio collected 25 ground balls and added two goals.
 
Women’s Lacrosse Athlete of the Week – Megan Hiller, Oberlin
Oberlin junior attacker Megan Hiller (Stevensville, MD/Severn School) led the Yeowomen to a pair of victories last week. The junior totaled nine goals and three assists across the two wins while shooting a perfect 12-for-12 on goal. Hiller recorded four goals and one assist in an 11-10 win over Chapman to become just the 11th player in program history to reach the 100-career point milestone. She followed that with a career-best seven-point outing in a 15-11 victory over Occidental, tallying five goals and two assists to extend Oberlin’s win streak to four.
 
Softball Player of the Week – Kirsten Wright, Wittenberg
Wittenberg sophomore outfielder Kirsten Wright (Springfield, OH/Kenton Ridge) had an impressive week, helping the Tigers to a 5-1 record. The sophomore went 12-for-19 with 10 RBI, nine scored runs, six doubles, and one triple on the week. In a doubleheader sweep of  Wilmington (8-6, 8-0), Wright went 4-for-8 with three doubles, five RBI, and two scored runs. The Springfield, Ohio native also contributed to the Tigers' victories over Otterbein and Wooster, recording multiple hits in three of the four games, including a 2-for-2 and 3-for-3 effort to combine for four runs and one RBI in 8-0 and 6-0 wins over Wooster.

Softball Pitcher of the Week – Samantha Zungri, Wittenberg
Wittenberg senior Samantha Zungri (Canal Winchester, OH/Canal Winchester) improved to 6-1 in the circle after delivering two wins for the Tigers. The senior pitched a 4.1-inning performance in a 10-1 win over Otterbein, allowing one unearned run on two hits with two strikeouts and three walks. Zungri then threw a complete-game shutout in a dominant 8-0 win over Wooster, limiting the Fighting Scots to just three hits while striking out two.
 
Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week – Paulo Pocasangre Kreling, Kenyon
Kenyon junior Paulo Pocasangre Kreling (Guacimo, Costa Rica/Interamerican High School CATI) continued his dominant season, extending his singles win streak to 14 matches at the No. 1 flight. The junior helped lead the Owls to three victories, including wins over No. 21 Washington & Lee (4-0), No. 10 WashU (4-3), and Hobart (4-0). He went unbeaten across all matches, securing singles wins against WashU (6-2, 7-6, 7-2) and Hobart (6-2, 6-2), while also winning all three of his doubles contests.
 
Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week – Freya Rahm, Oberlin
Oberlin sophomore Freya Rahm (St. Paul, MN/Mounds Park Academy) helped lead the Yeowomen to a 2-1 week with 6-1 victories over Goucher and Virginia Wesleyan, along with a hard-fought 7-0 loss to No. 13 Washington & Lee. Rahm went undefeated in her first two matches in singles play, securing a straight-set win at No. 3 singles against Goucher (6-3, 6-0) and a 6-4, 7-6(4) victory against Virginia Wesleyan. She also contributed in doubles, picking up wins against Goucher and Virginia Wesleyan.
 
Men's Outdoor Sprints/Hurdles Athlete of the Week – Cole Fuller, Oberlin
Oberlin senior Cole Fuller (Chicago, IL/Latin School of Chicago) won the 400-meter hurdles at the Bob Kahn Invitational with a conference-best time of 54.95 seconds, which is the 14th fastest time in the nation. The senior also anchored the winning 4x400m relay (3:22.40) and helped the 4x100m relay take second (43.06).
 
Men's Outdoor Distance/Mid-Distance Athlete of the Week – David Adesanya, Wabash
Wabash sophomore David Adesanya (Avon, IN/Ben Davis) led the Little Giants at the Illinois State Redbird Invitational, winning the 800-meter run in 1:55.80. His time ranks second in the NCAC this season.
 
Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week – Chris Slater, Denison
Denison senior Chris Slater (Hudson, OH/Hudson) set a new school record in the hammer throw at the Denison Lid Lifter with a mark of 61.85 meters, which is 7.19 meters further than the second-best toss in program history. With that toss, the senior currently ranks second in Division III. Slater also won the shot put with a throw of 15.63 meters to rank 11th nationally.
 
Women's Outdoor Sprints/Hurdles Athlete of the Week – Shelby Stall, DePauw
DePauw sophomore Shelby Stall (Lindenhurst, IL/Lakes) broke her own program record in the 400-meter dash at the WashU Invitational, finishing third with a time of 56.66 seconds. Stall also helped the 4x100 relay team place sixth with a time of 49.15 seconds.
 
Women's Outdoor Distance/Mid-Distance Athlete of the Week – Sophie Porter, DePauw
DePauw senior Sophie Porter (Westfield, IN/Westfield) set a new program record in the 10,000-meter run at the WashU Distance Carnival, clocking in at 35:31.67. Her time earned her 16th place in the fastest section of the race to surpass her previous record of 35:36.75 from last year.
 
Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week – Penelope Artemis, Kenyon
Kenyon first-year Penelope Artemis (Nicosia, Cyprus/The Senior School) set a new program record in the hammer throw at the Denison Lid-Lifter, winning the event with a toss of 41.91 meters. The rookie’s throw surpassed the previous Kenyon record of 39.93 meters set by Funmilayo Lawal in 2016.
 
NCAC Milestones & Records (March 24-30)
 
Denison, Baseball – Senior outfielder Eric Colaco (Richfield, OH/Revere) had an outstanding performance in a doubleheader against Kenyon on Saturday, going 7-for-10 (.700) with three doubles, one triple, and two home runs. In the twinbill, Colaco set a new NCAC record for career doubles with 67, surpassing the previous mark of 66, and broke the Denison program record for hits.
 
DePauw, Men's Outdoor Track & Field – Senior Colin O'Malley (Round Lake, IL/Grayslake Central) won the 200-meter dash in 21.40 seconds, breaking his own program record of 21.66 set in 2024.
 
DePauw, Women’s Outdoor Track & Field – Junior Tessa Kochert (Glen Ellyn, IL/Glenbard West) set a program record in the triple jump at the WashU Invitational with a leap of 11.44 meters, surpassing the previous mark of 11.40 meters set in 2003 by Shaneka Terrell.
 
Hiram, Baseball – Senior first baseman Hal Walker Jr. (Mentor, OH/Mentor) tied his career-high and program record with five hits in a nightcap against Wabash on Saturday.
 
Kenyon, Women's Outdoor Track & Field – Sophomore Olivia Ide (Chicago, IL/Lane Technical) won the 5,000-meter run at the Denison Lid Lifter with a time of 18:15.93, marking a personal collegiate best.
