Denison Men’s Tennis Captures First NCAA DIII Crown

CLAREMONT, CA - After falling in the quarterfinal round a season ago, No. 2 ranked Denison captured the 2025 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championship title with a 4-2 win over No. 4 Case Western Reserve. The Big Red collect their first men’s tennis national championship in program history; the title was the first for the North Coast Athletic Conference in men's tennis.

  • Denison took a 1-0 lead over Case after Jacob Patterson (Bridgeville, PA/South Fayette) and Colin Gramley (Sharon, PA/Shady Side Academy) posted a 6-1 win at No. 2 and Ethan Green (Salt Lake City, UT/Skyline) and Kael Shah (Nairobi, Kenya/ES American School Barcelona (Spain)) recorded a 6-2 victory at No. 1. 
  • In singles, the Spartans took a 2-1 lead with wins at No. 5 and then No. 3, before Anthony Payiavlas (Warren, OH/ Harding) collected the win at No. 6, 7-5, 6-3, to even the score at 2-2. The top flight went to Green, who recorded a 2-6, 7-5, 6-2 win to give Denison the 3-2 lead. Andreas Chapides (Limassol, Cyprus/ES International School) clinched the match with a 6-7, 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 4 to secure the national championship title.
