GRANVILLE, OH -- The Denison Big Red won the 2025 North Coast Athletic Conference Women's Lacrosse Tournament title with a 12-5 victory over the Wooster Fighting Scots on Saturday, May 3. The tournament title is Denison's third-consecutive crown and 18th overall.
As conference champions, the Big Red have earned the league's automatic bid into the 2025 NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Tournament. The NCAA Division III selection show will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 5, on NCAA.com.

- The first goal of the game was not scored until almost seven minutes into the game, as Wooster junior Lizzie Hardy (Gibsonia, PA/Aquinas Academy of Pittsburgh) found the back of the net for the 1-0 lead. One minute and thirty-eight seconds later, Denison would even the game at one-all thanks to a goal from junior Grayson O'Marra (Bethesda, MD/Bethesda Chevy Chase) and then take the 2-1 lead with 4:52 remaining with a goal from senior Anna DeVuono (Devon, PA/Conestoga). Two more goals by the Big Red would give Denison a 4-1 advantage heading into the second frame, as first-years Emersen Thompson (Garrison Forest) and Maddie Chase (The Moses Brown School) each recorded goals.
- Wooster opened the second quarter with a goal by first-year Mizan Jacobs (Santa Fe, NM/Santa Fe Preparatory) to cut the deficit to two, 4-2. Denison junior Mary Martinson (Concord, NH/Concord) would score two minutes later for the 5-2 advantage before DeVuono would net another goal to give the Big Red a 6-2 lead heading into the half.
- The third quarter would open with a goal by Wooster junior Sophia Mellis (Wexford, PA/Oakland Catholic) before DeVuono would add her third goal of the game, moving the Denison advantage to 7-3. Two minutes later, DeVuono found the back of the net and then followed with another score at the 5:53 mark for back-to-back-to-back goals for a 9-3 advantage heading into the final frame.
- During the fourth quarter, Denison senior Caroline Brooks (New Canaan, CT/New Canaan) netted her first goal of the game to give the Big Red a 10-3 advantage. Wooster responded with a goal from junior Brynne Snaguski (Palos Verdes Estates/Palos Verdes Peninsula) to cut the deficit to six, 10-4. Denison junior Bridget Sheehy (Pawleys Island, SC/Westminster) recorded a man-up goal with 4:36 remaining, while Snaguski added her second goal of the game, bringing the score to 11-5. With 1:30 left in regulation, Big Red junior Sydney Lavin (Malvern, PA/Great Valley) netted the final goal of the game.
- Offensively, DeVuono tallied a game-high five goals, while Wooster was led by Snaguski, who netted two scores, and Jacobs, who dished a game-high two assists for the Fighting Scots.
- Defensively, Wooster senior Lexi Sarne (Media, PA/Merion Mercy Academy) caused a game-high four turnovers, while senior Mary Daniel (Wellesley, MA/Wellesley) caused a team-high three turnovers for Denison.
- Denison outshot Wooster, 30-21, and held the advantage on ground balls (24-13).
- Denison's DeVuono was named Tournament MVP and she was joined on the Tournament team by teammates Daniel, Martinson, sophomore Julianne Henigan (South Orange, NJ/Columbia) and senior Liz Hinton (Walpole, MA/Walpole).
