DePauw’s Porter Collects CSC Academic All-America® Honor 7/16/2025 11:00:00 AM | By: Haiden Diemer-McKinney, Wabash '26 Share: DePauw graduate Sophie Porter (Westfield, IN/Westfield) has been named to the 2024-25 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Women’s Academic All-America® Track & Field/Cross Country Second Team. Porter, a neuroscience and biochemistry double major with a 3.91 GPA, earns national academic honors for the second consecutive year after being named to the third team in 2023-24. On the cross country course, Porter finished as the runner-up at the 2024 NCAC Championships, clocking a time of 22:12.25. She went on to place sixth at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional, leading DePauw to its first regional title in program history. At the NCAA Division III Championships, Porter placed 56th out of 293 competitors with a time of 21:59.80, contributing to the team’s 29th-place finish. In a dominant 2025 track and field campaign, Porter was named NCAC Distance Athlete of the Year for both the indoor and outdoor seasons. At the NCAC Indoor Championships, she swept the mile (5:08.44), 3,000-meter (10:25.96), and 5,000-meter (17:51.17) events. Porter then added two more titles in the 10,000-meter (37:28.37) and 1,500-meter (4:52.12) events, along with a runner-up finish in the 5,000-meter run (18:05.17) at the outdoor championships. The Westfield, Indiana native capped off a historic year after placing 15th in the 10,000-meter run (35:54.88) at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships, earning her second-team All-America status. Porter played a major role in helping DePauw capture its first NCAC titles in women’s cross country, women’s indoor track and field, and women’s outdoor track and field since joining the league in 2011. She earned seven All-NCAC honors this year and graduated as the program record holder in the indoor 3,000-meter run as well as the outdoor 3,000-, 5,000-, and 10,000-meter events. Additionally, the recent graduate was named the recipient of DePauw’s 2025 Amy Hasbrook Award, a prestigious honor that recognizes a senior student-athlete from a women's sport who best exemplifies effort and excellence in academics, athletics, leadership, integrity, dedication to the team, campus involvement, and community service.
