NCAC Athletes of the Week | Oct. 6 10/6/2026 10:00:00 AM Share: North Coast Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week | October 6, 2026 Men's Cross Country - Lukas Rieben, Wittenberg Wittenberg senior Lukas Rieben (Clayton, OH/Northmont) won the 8,000-meter race out of 206 runners at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational on Friday in 25:10, crossing the line 20 seconds ahead of the runner-up. His victory propelled the Tigers to seventh place in the 14-team field. Women's Cross Country - Zoe Ward, Ohio Wesleyan Ohio Wesleyan senior Zoe Ward (Columbus, OH/Worthington Christian) won the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational out of 134 runners on Friday, covering the 6,000-meter course in 21:54.1. She led the Battling Bishops to the team title with 23 points. Field Hockey - Izzie Kline, Wooster Wooster sophomore forward Izzie Kline (Dayton, OH/Oakwood) helped guide the Fighting Scots to a 2-1 week with wins over Oberlin (1-0) and Transylvania (6-0), and a hard-fought 2-1 double-overtime loss to Wittenberg. The sophomore scored three times, starting with the lone goal in Tuesday's win over the Yeowomen. After Saturday's setback against the Tigers, Kline found the cage twice in Sunday's victory over the Pioneers. She put four of her five shots on target across the three games, and her six goals this season are tied for the team lead. Football (Offensive) - Levi Moore, WashU WashU senior quarterback Levi Moore (Nashville, TN/Ensworth) led the No. 17/18 Bears to a 35-25 upset of No. 6/8 John Carroll on Saturday, the program's first-ever victory over a top-10 opponent. He completed 15 of 26 passes for 257 yards without an interception, throwing first-half touchdowns of one, 12 and 76 yards. Moore also rushed for 46 yards on eight carries and hauled in a six-yard scoring catch on a third-quarter trick play, helping WashU improve to 5-0 overall and 4-0 in NCAC play. Football (Defensive) - Trey Blazevich, Kenyon Kenyon junior linebacker Trey Blazevich (Carlsbad, CA/La Costa Canyon) anchored the Owls' defense in a 17-13 win at Wittenberg on Saturday, Kenyon's first victory over the Tigers since 1914. He led the team with eight tackles, five of them solo, and two sacks for a loss of 17 yards, while adding a quarterback hurry. Blazevich was part of the Owls' unit that forced four turnovers and held Wittenberg scoreless after halftime. Women's Golf - Sasha Belova, Kenyon Kenyon sophomore Sasha Belova (Ekaterinburg, Russia/Ekaterinburg Gymnasium) led the Owls to a 12th-place finish at the Tartan Invitational, hosted by Carnegie Mellon at the 5,633-yard, par-72 Shepherd's Rock at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort. She posted team-best rounds of 73 and 74 to open the tournament, with birdies on the 13th and 17th holes in her first round. Belova tied for 27th out of 98 golfers at eight-over 224, and her 42 pars led the field. Men's Soccer - Ryan Cvitkovic, John Carroll John Carroll first-year forward Ryan Cvitkovic (Chagrin Falls, OH/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) scored twice, including the game-winner, in the Blue Streaks' 3-1 win over Wittenberg on Saturday, the first multi-goal game of his collegiate career. After the Tigers struck early, the rookie equalized with a header off a corner kick at 5:21. He added the go-ahead goal unassisted at 32:13, beating a defender and the keeper with a shot low to the right. His two goals came on two shots in 33 minutes of play. Women's Soccer - Lucy Carlin, Wooster Wooster senior goalkeeper Lucy Carlin (Liberty Township, OH/Lakota East) helped the Fighting Scots finish 1-0-1 on the week after posting two shutouts. She made a season-high seven saves in a 0-0 tie with Ohio Northern on Wednesday. Carlin followed with six stops in Saturday's 2-0 win over Ohio Wesleyan in Wooster's conference opener. On the year, she has five clean sheets and a 0.92 goals-against average. Men's Swimming & Diving - Cameron Cook, John Carroll John Carroll junior Cameron Cook (Fredericksburg, VA/Stafford) finished first in all three of his events in the Blue Streaks' 162-50 dual meet victory over Heidelberg. He won the 50 backstroke in a personal-best 23.88 and the 50 freestyle in 21.29. Cook also anchored the 400 medley relay (3:30.93) with a 45.85 freestyle split. Women's Swimming & Diving - Audrey Sevald, John Carroll John Carroll junior Audrey Sevald (Akron, OH/Firestone) won the 100 backstroke in 1:00.37 during the Blue Streaks' 156-70 dual meet victory over Heidelberg. She also led off the first-place 400 medley relay (4:04.60) with a 1:00.11 opening leg. Volleyball - Kennedy Muhlenkamp, Wooster Wooster sophomore setter Kennedy Muhlenkamp (Fort Recovery, OH/Fort Recovery) guided the Fighting Scots to a 3-0 week while averaging 8.85 assists per set. She opened with 47 assists and three aces in Monday's 3-2 win over Kent State-Tuscarawas. On Friday, she recorded four aces and dished out 25 assists in a sweep of Saint Francis, then added 43 assists and 15 digs in a five-set win over Geneva. Her 47 assists, four aces, and 15 digs each marked season highs. On the week, Muhlenkamp totaled 115 assists, 23 digs, nine aces, and eight block assists. Milestones & Records (Sept. 28-Oct. 4) Denison, Volleyball - Senior outside hitter Claire Hamilton (Lower Merion, PA/Lower Merion) became the eighth player in program history, and the first since 2017, to reach 1,000 career kills, hitting the mark with a season-high 15 kills against Case Western on Saturday … Junior outside hitter Devon Moore (Golden, CO/Mullen) posted a season-high 19 kills against Ohio Wesleyan. Oberlin, Men's Cross Country - Senior Will Gordon (Durham, NC/Charles E. Jordan) set a personal best at Friday's Ohio Wesleyan Invitational, finishing the 8,000-meter course in 25:52.4 and placing eighth out of 206 runners. Oberlin, Women's Soccer - Sophomore goalkeeper Asha Locke (Brooklyn, NY/The Boerum Hill School for International Studies) recorded her first career shutout, making five saves in a 0-0 tie with DePauw on Saturday. Ohio Wesleyan, Field Hockey - Junior forward Mary Powers (Centreville, VA/Chantilly) recorded the second hat trick of her career in Wednesday's 8-2 win over John Carroll, the programs' first-ever meeting with the Blue Streaks. Ohio Wesleyan, Volleyball - Senior outside hitter Natalie Dieball (Liberty Township, OH/Lakota East) posted a season-high 19 kills in back-to-back contests versus Denison and Case Western on Saturday. Wabash, Men's Cross Country - Sophomore Sam Vaught (Indianapolis, IN/Roncalli) set a personal best at Saturday's Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic, finishing the 8,000-meter course in 25:31.1 and placing 11th out of 228 runners. His time improved on his previous career best by 20 seconds. Wabash, Football - Junior linebacker Carson Foxen (Avon, IN/Avon) recorded a career-high eight tackles, including a career-best four solo stops, in a 24-23 loss at Denison on Saturday. Wittenberg, Volleyball - Senior libero Ava Golem (Kirtland, OH/Kirtland) recorded her 1,000th career dig in Saturday's 3-1 win over Kenyon, finishing with 29 in the match. She now has 1,003 career digs, and her 331 this season already surpasses her previous single-season high of 257, set in 2024-25. Wooster, Women's Golf - Senior Morgan Erdmann (Dublin, OH/Dublin Jerome) tied her collegiate-best round with a 76 in Sunday's final round of the John Carroll Fall Invitational, the low score in the field. The round included an eagle on the par-5 sixth and birdies on the 11th and 18th holes, lifting her to a runner-up finish at 161.
