Men's Basketball - Noah Frayer, Wittenberg
Wittenberg first-year guard Noah Frayer (Odenton, MD/SPIRE Academy) had a breakout performance in an 86-75 conference win at Wooster on Saturday. Frayer played 36 minutes and poured in a career-high 31 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the field, including 5-of-7 from three-point range, and he hit all six of his free throws. He also contributed three rebounds and three assists in the win, helping Wittenberg record a regular-season sweep of Wooster for the first time since 2018.
Women's Basketball - Molly Mossing, Wittenberg
Wittenberg sophomore forward Molly Mossing (Cedarville, OH/Cedarville) came off the bench to lead the Tigers from a 14-0 game-opening deficit to a 64-53 conference victory over Wooster on Saturday. Mossing posted 20 points, just one shy of her career high, on 8-of-17 shooting from the field and 3-of-4 precision from the line. She dominated the glass with a career-high 14 rebounds, including eight defensive boards, and added three assists, two steals, and two blocks.
Men's Swimming & Diving - Ryan West, Wabash
Wabash sophomore Ryan West (Apex, NC/Middle Creek) recorded two personal-best performances while competing against NCAA Division I Indiana University Indianapolis on Saturday at the IU Natatorium. West earned first in the 100 individual medley, touching the wall with a personal-best time of 53.06. He also led off the Little Giants’ 200-medley relay (1:34.40) with a personal-best split of 23.58 in the 50-yard backstroke.
Women's Swimming & Diving - Cora Gilbert, DePauw
DePauw senior Cora Gilbert (Danville, KY/Boyle County) delivered two first-place showings in the Tigers’ dual meet against Washington University on Saturday. Gilbert captured first in the 100 backstroke with a pool-record time of 57.55 and collected a top finish in the 200 individual medley in a time of 2:09.58. She also turned in a third-place finish in the 200 breaststroke (2:35.38) and swam a leg on DePauw's fourth-place 200-medley relay (1:51.64).
Men's Tennis - Andreas Chapides, Denison
Denison senior Andreas Chapides (Limassol, Cyprus/ES International School) earned victories in both singles and doubles competition during a strong 2-0 conference week for the Big Red. Chapides teamed with sophomore Nick Meyers (Cincinnati, OH/Sycamore) to secure a 6-4 win at the No. 1 doubles position against Wooster. He also picked up a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 3 singles against Wabash.
Women's Tennis - Abby Williams, Wooster
Wooster senior Abby Williams (Canton, OH/Jackson) posted a strong opening week to the spring season, going 2-0 in doubles and 1-1 in singles. In a 7-0 victory over Anderson, she paired with junior Lauren Richmond (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst Preparatory) for a 6-3 victory in the No. 2 doubles flight and then captured a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles. Williams followed with another doubles win on Sunday against Kalamazoo, teaming with sophomore Jade Adkins (Mansfield, OH/Lexington) for a 6-2 triumph at No. 2 doubles.
Men's Sprints/Hurdles - Cameron Elliott, Wittenberg
Wittenberg senior Cameron Elliott (Springfield, OH/Springfield) captured two first-place finishes at Saturday’s Steemer Showcase, highlighted by a pair of school-record performances. Elliott won the 500-meter dash in a school-record time of 1:04.47 and also ran a leg of the Tigers’ first-place 4x200-meter relay, which posted a school-record time of 1:27.45. Elliott’s standout efforts helped Wittenberg place second as a team in a 22-team field that included several NCAA Division I and II programs.
Men's Mid/Distance - Basheer Alramahi, John Carroll
John Carroll senior Basheer Alramahi (Westlake, OH/Westlake) delivered a historic performance at the Penn State National Open, setting a new NCAA Division III national record in the 600-meter run. Alramahi clocked a time of 1:17.97 to place third overall in a field of six competitors that featured mostly Division I runners. His record-breaking effort shattered a national mark that had stood since 2012.
Men's Field - Dane Mentore, Oberlin
Oberlin senior Dane Mentore (Lincoln, NE/Lincoln) turned in a standout performance at the Dr. Taraschke Team Challenge by capturing first place in the men’s triple jump with a career-best mark. Mentore recorded a winning leap of 13.49 meters, which ranks fourth in the NCAC this season and moves him into ninth place on Oberlin’s all-time program list.
Women's Sprints/Hurdles - 4x400 Relay, DePauw
The DePauw women’s 4x400-meter relay team of junior Shelby Stall (Lindenhurst, IL/Lakes), first-year Courtney Powell (Terre Haute, IN/Terre Haute South), sophomore Lily Hovda (Zionsville, IN/University HS), and junior Liberty Scott (Galveston, IN/Lewis Cass) delivered a standout performance at the Rose-Hulman Classic. The quartet captured a first-place finish in the event, while setting a new school record in a time of 3:55.82 (3:52.72 converted). Their time currently stands as the top mark in the NCAC this season and ranks fifth on the NCAA list.
Women's Mid/Distance - Zoe Ward, Ohio Wesleyan
Ohio Wesleyan junior Zoe Ward (Columbus, OH/Worthington Christian) led all NCAC competitors with a personal-best time in the mile at Saturday’s Steemer Showcase. Ward clocked a time of 5:03.43, finishing as the conference’s top performer and earning fifth out of 56 runners.
Women's Field - Emery Kurth, Denison
Denison sophomore Emery Kurth (Santa Fe, NM/Santa Fe Preparatory School) turned in a strong performance in the long jump at the Steemer Showcase. Kurth recorded a mark of 5.39 meters to place fourth out of 40 competitors. Her jump currently ranks second in both the NCAC this season and in Denison program history, while helping the Big Red finish ninth in a 21-team field.
Milestones & Records (Jan. 26-Feb. 1)
Denison, Men’s Basketball – Junior guard Kellon Smith (Cleveland, OH/Shaker Heights) poured in a career-high 33 points on Saturday at Kenyon, shooting 10-of-14 from the field with five threes (5-of-8) and a perfect 8-of-8 at the line in the Big Red’s 81-69 win.
Denison, Women’s Indoor Track & Field – Sophomore Mira Renaldi (Plymouth, MI/Canton) broke the program record in the 60-meter hurdles preliminaries at Saturday’s Steemer Showcase, posting a time of 9.04 to rank third in the NCAC and 29th in Division III. Renaldi went on to place second in the finals in 9.05… First-year Shaylee Murdough (Contoocook, NH/Hopkinton Middle) set a new school record in the mile at Saturday’s Steemer Showcase, placing eighth in a field of 56 with a time of 5:11.13. The rookie now ranks sixth in league standings so far this season.
John Carroll, Men’s Basketball – Graduate student guard Luke Chicone (Mentor, OH/Mentor) reached the 1,500-point milestone in Saturday’s narrow 68-64 loss to DePauw, finishing with 26 points, six rebounds, six assists, and two steals in 40 minutes of action.
Kenyon, Men’s Indoor Track & Field – Sophomore Charlie Blackmer (Libertyville, IL/Vernon Hills) set two program records at Saturday’s Steemer Showcase, highlighted by a second-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:53.50 which broke the previous Kenyon record of 1:54.67 set by Joshia Child in 1985. He then teamed with seniors Josh Greville (Kane, PA/Kane Area) and Julius Thompson (McKinney, TX/McKinney Boyd), and classmate Kudzaishe Mhere (Harare, Zimbabwe/St. George’s College) to win the 4x400-meter relay in 3:21.31, lowering the prior school mark of 3:28.97.
Oberlin, Men’s Basketball – Senior center Milun Micanovic (Podgorica, Montenegro/Western Reserve Academy) recorded the 15th double-double of his career in Saturday’s 69-57 win over Ohio Wesleyan, finishing with 22 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Yeomen. Micanovic shot 9-of-12 from the floor and added a steal and a block in the win.
Oberlin, Women’s Indoor Track & Field – Seniors Ella Wozek (Waltham, MA/Waltham) and Amber Borofsky (Easton, CT/Joel Barlow), sophomore Samantha Soto (Crete, IL/De La Salle Institute), and first-year Mirabel Adams (San Francisco, CA/Lowell) teamed up to win the distance medley relay at the Dr. Taraschke Team Challenge, setting a meet record with a time of 13:00 to break the previous mark by three seconds.
Ohio Wesleyan, Men’s Indoor Track & Field – Seniors Ryan Tripp (Sunbury, OH/Big Walnut) and Joe Larkins (Cleveland, OH/Ginn Academy), junior Connor Smith (Marysville, OH/Marysville), and sophomore Nate Snead (Sunbury, OH/Big Walnut) teamed up to set a new program record in the 4x200 meter relay at Saturday’s Steemer Showcase, as the quartet posted a time of 1:27.63.
Ohio Wesleyan, Indoor Women’s Track & Field – Sophomores Katherine Dortmund (Westerville, OH/Columbus St. Francis DeSales) and Kennedy Elfers (Powell, OH/Olentangy Liberty) and first-years Alaina Nathan (Houston, TX) and Kaylee Lusk (Canal Fulton, OH) posted a new program mark of 1:42.80 in the 4x200-meter relay, lowering the previous record of 1:44.42.
Wabash, Men’s Indoor Track & Field – First-year Brock DeBello (North Salem, IN/Tri-West) broke the program record in the 400-meter dash on Saturday at the Steemer Showcase, finishing fourth overall with a time of 48.79. The performance topped the previous record of 49.08, set by John Haley in 2012.
Wittenberg, Men’s Indoor Track & Field – Junior Lukas Rieben (Clayton, OH/Northmont) turned in a personal-best 8:30.13 in the 3,000-meter run at Wittenberg’s Steemer Showcase, placing sixth in a deep regional field. Rieben’s mark currently ranks second in the NCAC… First-year Antonio Weaver (Columbus, OH/Independence) placed third in the long jump with a mark of 6.93 meters, a performance that leads the NCAC and ranks in the top 50 nationally.
Wooster, Men’s Swimming & Diving – The Fighting Scots went 9-0 in dual meets this winter to deliver the program’s first undefeated dual-meet season with a minimum of five duals.
