Baseball Pitcher – Jake Corll, John Carroll
John Carroll senior
Jake Corll (Austintown, OH/Austintown Fitch) delivered a pair of dominant performances on the mound to lead the Blue Streaks to wins over Wartburg (10-3) and Keystone (7-3) during their spring break trip. Corll posted a 2-0 record across 12.0 innings of work, allowing just one earned run on five hits while striking out 11 batters for a 0.75 ERA. He opened the week by striking out seven over six innings in the victory over Wartburg before tossing six shutout innings against Keystone, surrendering only one hit and one walk while fanning four. Opponents hit just .119 against Corll on the week.
Baseball Player – Luke Rizzo, Wooster
Wooster sophomore second baseman
Luke Rizzo (New York, NY/Poly Prep Country Day School) had a dominant offensive production at the plate as the Fighting Scots went 5-0 on the week. In three games played, Rizzo hit .778 with seven hits in nine at-bats, scoring eight runs and driving in eight RBI while posting a 2.444 slugging percentage and .833 on-base percentage. He belted four home runs and recorded six extra-base hits on the week, homering in each game and tallying multiple hits in every appearance. Rizzo opened the week going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and a homer in a 14-4 win over La Roche before going 3-for-3 with two home runs, a double, four runs scored, and two RBI in a 13-3 victory over Illinois Tech. He closed the week with another homer, a triple, four RBI, and two runs scored in an 11-3 win over Elmhurst.
Men's Golf – Connor Gray, Kenyon
Kenyon sophomore
Connor Gray (Winnetka, IL/New Trier) led the Owls at the Savannah Invitational after posting a three-round total of 222 (+6) to tie for 39th in a 100-golfer field at The Club at Savannah Harbor. Gray opened with rounds of 73 and 74 on Monday, recording three birdies and an eagle in both rounds, before closing with a 75 on Tuesday. As a team, Kenyon finished 13th out of 20 teams in a tournament field that included 15 top-25 nationally ranked teams.
Women’s Golf – Becky Williams, DePauw
DePauw senior
Becky Williams (Zionsville, IN/University High School of Indiana) won her third tournament of the season and the twelfth of her career after leading the 31-player field at the Music City Shootout. Williams shot a two-round total of 152 (76-76) with two eagles to capture the individual title by two strokes over teammate, sophomore
Emma Pasawat (Bangkok, Thailand/Brighton College Bangkok).
Men’s Lacrosse – Ty Harris, Wittenberg
Wittenberg senior midfielder
Ty Harris (Cincinnati, OH/Sycamore) led the Tigers to a 1-1 week, scoring seven goals and collecting two assists while taking 22 shots with 14 on goal. Harris opened the week with a hat trick in a 17-8 loss at Chatham, scoring twice in the first period and once in the fourth while also recording an assist and two ground balls. He followed that performance with four goals, one assist and three ground balls to help secure Wittenberg's first win of the season, a 10-8 victory over Muskingum.
Women’s Lacrosse – Lizzie Hardy, Wooster

Lizzie Hardy (Gibsonia, PA/Aquinas Academy of Pittsburgh) powered the Fighting Scots to a perfect 3-0 week, totaling 11 goals and two assists while scooping up 13 ground balls and collecting 21 draw controls. Hardy scored her 100th career goal in an 18-8 win at Centre and became Wooster’s all-time leader in draw controls during a 19-5 victory over Baldwin Wallace. She averaged 3.7 goals, 4.3 ground balls, and 7.0 draw controls per game, highlighted by 10 draw controls at Centre and eight ground balls against Baldwin Wallace.
Softball Pitcher – Kristin Dems, John Carroll
John Carroll junior
Kristin Dems (Mentor, OH/Mentor) had a standout week in Florida, appearing in four games and posting a 3-1 record with a 1.77 ERA over 23.2 innings pitched. Dems allowed just one run in her first three starts which included two shutouts, over New England College (4-0) and Houghton (1-0). The junior recorded a career-high 10 strikeouts against Houghton, before throwing 5.0 innings to earn a 7-1 win over Baruch. In a tough 6-3 loss to Anna Maria, Dems allowed four runs in 4.2 innings. On the week, the righthander struck out 24 of the 95 batters she faced and allowed just a .202 opposing batting average.
Softball Player – Izzy Coode, John Carroll
John Carroll sophomore
Izzy Coode (Mentor, OH/Mentor) delivered a dominant week at the NFCA Leadoff Classic as the Blue Streaks went 6-2. Coode started all eight contests, going 13-for-31 (.419), while recording a 1.096 OPS. The sophomore tallied three doubles, one triple, one home run, and 15 RBI, while scoring six runs and earning three stolen bases. She hit for the cycle with eight RBI in a 13-2 win over Concordia Chicago and posted multiple hits in five of the team’s eight games.
Men’s Tennis – Anthony Markello, John Carroll
John Carroll senior
Anthony Markello (East Aurora, NY/East Aurora) posted a 3-1 record at No. 2 singles and a 3-0 mark at No. 1 doubles during the Blue Streaks’ spring break trip to Florida. Markello earned straight-set singles wins over Adrian (6-0, 6-3), Concordia Chicago (6-0, 6-0), and Wartburg (6-1, 6-3) before falling to Mary Washington (0-6, 0-6) in his final singles match of the week. In doubles play, Markello teamed up with first-year
Jean Davin (Paris, France/École Jeannine Manuel) for victories against Adrian (6-3), Concordia Chicago (6-0), and Wartburg (6-3). JCU went 3-1 for the week with team wins over Adrian (4-3), Concordia Chicago (7-0), and Wartburg (4-3) and a loss to Mary Washington (7-0).
Women’s Tennis – Evelyn Deren, John Carroll
John Carroll junior
Evelyn Deren (Northville, MI/Northville High School) posted a 3-1 record at No. 2 singles and a 3-1 mark at No. 1 doubles during the Blue Streaks’ spring break trip to Florida. Deren opened the week with a comeback singles win over Adrian (3-6, 6-2, 10-8), then fell to Mary Washington (0-8), before earning straight-set victories against Wartburg (6-1, 6-0) and Cedarville (7-5, 6-0). Teaming up with junior
Maddie Kavenagh (Akron, OH/Revere), the pair picked up doubles wins over Adrian (6-1), Wartburg (6-0), and Cedarville (6-3), with their lone loss coming against Mary Washington (0-6). John Carroll went 3-1 for the week with team wins over Adrian (6-1), Wartburg (6-1), and Cedarville (5-2) and a loss to Mary Washington (6-0).
Milestones & Records (March 2-9)
Denison, Women’s Basketball – Junior guard
Abby Cooch (Clifton, VA/Bishop Ireton) propelled the Big Red to the program’s first third-round appearance in the NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship after scoring 24 points on a career-high seven three-pointers. Cooch also reached the 1,000-point mark for her career with her first three-pointer of the night.
Denison, Softball – Junior
Madilyn Moffitt (New Castle, IN/New Castle) was named to the NFCA Leadoff Classic All-Tournament Team after going 1-2 in the circle against Stevens, No. 8 East Texas Baptist, and No. 24 Bellhaven. Moffitt posted a 2.17 ERA with 11 strikeouts and four walks across 19.1 innings, including seven strikeouts in a 1-0 complete-game shutout win over Stevens. She also held East Texas Baptist to four runs and limited Bellhaven to two runs, the fewest scored by either team during the tournament.
DePauw, Men’s Lacrosse – Sophomore attack
Carter Cassidy (Davidson, NC/Cannon School) recorded the first hat trick of his career in Saturday’s 7-2 win at Illinois Tech. Cassidy scored three goals on six shots, including back-to-back tallies in the second quarter before adding a man-up goal in the third to help the Tigers pull away.
Kenyon, Baseball – Head coach
Matt Burdette earned the 500th victory of his career at Kenyon College as the Owls defeated Elizabethtown, 5-3, in the series opener.
Oberlin, Women’s Lacrosse – Sophomore attack
Kylie Thompson (Redondo Beach, CA/Redondo Union) recorded a career-high six goals and eight points in Wednesday’s 14-5 win over Marietta. Thompson added two assists, four ground balls, and a caused turnover in the victory.
Ohio Wesleyan, Baseball – Senior
Parker Tomlin (Atlanta, GA/Westerville Central) struck out a career-high seven batters in Saturday’s 6-2 win at Covenant. Tomlin worked 6.0 innings and allowed one run on five hits and one walk while facing 26 batters.

Zoe Ward (Columbus, OH/Worthington Christian) ran a school-record 12:02.55 at the Wartburg Qualifier on Friday.
Ohio Wesleyan, Women’s Lacrosse – Junior attack
Brie Colangelo (Providence, RI/Moses Brown School) surpassed 100 career points on Saturday after totaling six points on two goals and four assists in the Battling Bishops’ 12-11 win at Baldwin Wallace.
Wooster, Baseball – The Fighting Scots scored in all nine innings of Sunday's 13-4 win over Elmhurst. It marked Wooster's second time scoring in all nine innings since 2018. Per the Society for American Baseball Research and MLB.com archives, it is believed the 1923 New York Giants, the 1964 St. Louis Cardinals, and 1999 Colorado Rockies are the only Major League Baseball teams to score in all nine innings of a game since 1900.
