17 NCAC Athletes Compete at NCAA Indoor T&F Championships Friday

BIRMINGHAM, AL -- The 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships began on Friday, March 13, in Birmingham, Alabama and 17 North Coast Athletic Conference student-athletes took center stage in their respective events and were highlighted by 14 All-American performances.
 
Friday-Saturday, March 13-14 at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Alabama, hosted by the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) and the City of Birmingham.
 
To start the day, Wabash senior Quinn Sholar (Indianapolis, IN/Warren Central) recorded a distance of 17.06 meters (55' 11.75") in the men's weight throw to finish just outside of the All-American standard in 17th place.
 
The NCAC was represented by five runners in the 60-meter hurdles. In the women's race, Ohio Wesleyan sophomore Katherine Dortmund (Westerville, OH/Columbus St. Francis DeSales) posted a top-eight finish in the prelims, crossing the line in 8.55. With her fourth-place finish, the sophomore will now look to capture a first-team All-American nod in the finals of the women's 60 hurdles which is scheduled for a 11:30 a.m. start on Saturday. DePauw junior Liberty Scott (Galveston, IN/Lewis Cass) collected second-team All-American honors in 11th with a time of 8.74 in the prelims. In the men's race, Wittenberg sophomore Kory Davis (Brookville, OH/Brookville) placed eighth in 8.06 in the prelims and will compete in the finals tomorrow at 11:40 a.m. for a first-team All-American finish. DePauw sophomore Jacob Sandlin (San Pierre, IN/Kankakee Valley) claimed second-team All-America accolades with a 10th place finish in 8.10, while Ohio Wesleyan junior Dylan Harper (Marysville, OH/Marysville) placed 19th in 8.47.
 
John Carroll sophomore Dakota Houston (Beachwood, OH/Beachwood) raced to a third-place finish in the 60-meter dash prelims in 7.502 and will now compete in the finals on Saturday at 11:55 a.m.
 
In the mile prelims, John Carroll junior Alyssa Vis (Perry, OH/Perry) placed 17th in 4:56.22 in the women's race to earn a second-team All-America nod, while Blue Streak sophomore Sam Su (Akron, OH/Woodridge) took fourth in the men's race with a time of 4:12.20 and will now compete in the finals at 5:10 p.m. on Saturday.
 
DePauw junior Shelby Stall (Lindenhurst, IL/Lakes) recorded a time of 56.61 for 15th in the women's 400-meter dash prelims to earn second-team All-American honors. In the men's 400 prelims, Wittenberg senior Cameron Elliott (Springfield, OH/Springfield), Wabash first-year Brock DeBello (North Salem, IN/Tri West) and John Carroll graduate student Tyler Gast (Olmsted Township, OH/Olmsted Falls) all finished within the top eight to advance into the finals tomorrow at 5:35 p.m. Elliott took third in 47.73, while DeBello placed fifth in 47.938 and Gast finished just behind in sixth in 47.939. Wittenberg sophomore Jack Kittle (Chagrin Falls, OH/Chagrin Falls) crossed the line in 48.24 to claim 12th and earn a second-team All-American citation.
 
In the men's 800-meter run, John Carroll senior Basheer Alramahi (Westlake, OH/Westlake) placed sixth with a time of 1:53.24, earning a spot in the finals and a chance to collect first-team All-American honors at 6:00 p.m. tomorrow. The Blue Streak's Houston placed third with a time of 23.93 in the women's 200-meter dash, earning a spot in the finals and a chance to collect first-team All-American honors at 6:15 p.m. tomorrow, while DePauw junior Shelby Stall (Lindenhurst, IL/Lakes) just missed All-American status with a 17th-place prelim finish in 25.02.
 
John Carroll's Houston finished her night with a 19th-place finish in the women's long jump with a leap of 5.11 meters (16' 9.25").
 
To end the evening for all NCAC competitors, John Carroll's Gast, junior Tony Tirado (Chicago, IL/St. Ignatius College Prep), senior Dustin Horner (Stow, OH/Stow) and Alramahi took seventh-place in the men's 4x400 relay prelims, crossing the line in 3:15.9 earning a spot in the finals tomorrow at 7:30 p.m.
 
The 2026 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships will continue on Saturday, March 14, at the Birmingham Crossplex.
