JCU’s Alramahi Collects Back-to-Back NCAA Elite Scholar-Athlete

BIRMINGHAM, AL – The North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) celebrates John Carroll senior Basheer Alramahi (Westlake, OH/Westlake), who was named the recipient of the NCAA Elite Scholar-Athlete Award at the 2026 NCAA Division III Men's Indoor Track & Field Championship on Saturday, March 14, at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama.

A Biology major carrying a perfect 4.00 GPA, Alramahi has made history as the first student-athlete in the history of NCAA Division III Track & Field to earn the Elite Scholar-Athlete Award in back-to-back years, having claimed the honor at the 2025 Indoor Championships as well.

The NCAA Elite Scholar-Athlete Award recognizes the student-athlete competing at an NCAA Championship finals site who holds the highest cumulative grade point average. To be eligible, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore in their second year of competition and must have qualified for their respective national championship. The award reflects the highest ideals of the student-athlete experience, elite performance in both competition and the classroom, values that are central to the NCAC mission.
