Denison Men’s Tennis Collects NCAA Third Round Victory

GRANVILLE, OH - No. 4 ranked Denison collected a 4-1 win over No. 13 WashU in the third round of the 2026 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championship. The win advances Denison into the quarterfinal round which will take place on May 19, at Champions Tennis Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee; hosted by University of the South and Chattanooga, TN. The Big Red will face No. 5 Case Western.
 
Denison took a 1-0 lead over WashU after doubles with wins at the top-two flights. Seniors Ethan Green (Salt Lake City, UT/Skyline) and Kael Shah (Nairobi, Kenya/ES American School Barcelona (Spain)) earned a 6-2 win at No. 1, while first-year Wesley Huang (Pasadena, CA/Laurel Spring School) and senior Jacob Patterson (Bridgeville, PA/South Fayette) collected the second flight win with a 7-5 score.
 
In singles, Patterson collected the Big Red’s first point with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 2. The Bears collected the win at No. 2 to cut the deficit to 2-1. Senior Anthony Payiavlas (Warren, OH/Harding) then earned a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 6 before sophomore Nicholas Meyers (Cincinnati, OH/Sycamore) clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-3 win at the No. 5 flight.
