Denison Pair Collects ITA Regional Awards

TEMPE, AZ - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced the 2026 tennis regional award recipients on Monday, May 19, with two Denison student-athletes from the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) earning awards. 

ITA Central Regional Senior Player of the Year
Senior Kael Shah (Nairobi, Kenya/ES American School Barcelona (Spain)) has continued to cement himself as one of the nation’s premier players during a remarkable senior campaign. The 2026 NCAC Player of the Year owns an 18-4 dual-match singles record, including an impressive 11-2 mark at the No. 1 flight and a 7-2 record at No. 2. Shah also secured his third-consecutive All-NCAC first-team selection while helping lead the Big Red to the NCAC championship and NCAC tournament title the season. Nationally recognized for his success, Shah currently sits at No. 5 in the latest ITA national singles rankings.

ITA Central Regional Player to Watch
Sophomore Nick Meyers (Cincinnati, OH/Sycamore) has been dominant throughout his second season for the Big Red, compiling a perfect 16-0 dual-match singles record across four different flights. Meyers posted wins at No. 1, No. 3 and No. 4 before thriving with an 11-0 mark at the No. 5 position. His outstanding campaign earned him All-NCAC honors for the second-straight season, while his continued rise on the national stage is reflected in his current No. 31 ITA national singles ranking.
