Men's Cross Country - Sam Su, John Carroll
John Carroll junior Sam Su (Akron, OH/Woodridge) placed 18th out of 324 runners at the Spartan Invite, hosted by Michigan State, covering the 8,000-meter course in 25:02.7. Racing against competition from all three NCAA divisions, Su improved his personal best by eight seconds and was the top Division III finisher in the field as the Blue Streaks placed ninth among 26 teams.
Women's Cross Country - Samantha Goodnough, John Carroll
John Carroll junior Samantha Goodnough (Olmsted Falls, OH/Olmsted Falls) finished 61st out of 289 runners at the Spartan Invite, hosted by Michigan State, covering the 6,000-meter course in 22:29.8. Racing against a field that included nationally ranked competition, Goodnough improved her personal best by five seconds and was the second Division III finisher in the race as the Blue Streaks placed ninth among 25 teams.
Field Hockey - Ellison Hilgendorf, John Carroll
John Carroll first-year goalkeeper Ellison Hilgendorf (East Grand Rapids, MI/East Grand Rapids) posted a shutout in regulation and made 11 saves to send Saturday's game against Centre to a shootout, where the Blue Streaks won 3-2 to escape with a 1-0 victory, the first win in program history. Hilgendorf ranks second in the NCAC in saves with 37 and third in save percentage at .860, averaging 9.25 saves per game.
Football (Offensive) - Cole Dickerson, Wabash
Wabash junior running back Cole Dickerson (Lancaster, OH/Lancaster) rushed for a career-high 206 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries to lead the Little Giants to a 31-0 win over Wittenberg. He averaged 10.3 yards per carry while posting the first 200-yard rushing game of his career, and it marked the second time in his career he's recorded multiple rushing touchdowns in a game. Dickerson also added 32 receiving yards, giving him 238 total yards in the win.
Football (Defensive) - Ja'Ontay O'Bryant, Wooster
Wooster junior defensive back Ja'Ontay O'Bryant (Ontario, OH/Mansfield Senior) intercepted three passes, including a pick in the final 30 seconds to seal a 26-19 win at Kenyon. His final interception set up the game-winning touchdown on the following play, while his first two picks also led directly to points, a second-quarter field goal and a fourth-quarter touchdown. His three interceptions came one shy of the program's single-game individual record and accounted for half of Wooster's six interceptions on the day, tying the program's single-game team record. In all, his three takeaways helped set up 17 of Wooster's 26 points.
Men's Golf - Leo Dellinger, Wabash
Wabash sophomore Leo Dellinger (Monticello, IN/Twin Lakes) won medalist honors at the Stateline Shootout, hosted by Mount St. Joseph at Miami Whitewater Forest Golf Course, a 6,830-yard, par-72 layout, for the first individual title of his career. Dellinger fired rounds of 71-69-73 to finish the 54-hole tournament at 3-under 213, winning by three strokes over classmate Tyler Morton (Schererville, IN/Lake Central) and helping Wabash capture the team title by 25 strokes.
Women's Golf - Abby Haywood, Wooster
Wooster senior Abby Haywood (Dayton, OH/Centerville) tied a collegiate best with a 76 in Friday’s opening round of the Heidelberg Fall Invitational, hosted at the 5,807-yard, par-72 Fostoria Country Club, helping the Fighting Scots to a team-low 326, their best round since the fall 2024 season. Haywood finished fifth in the 73-player field with a two-round total of 154 (+10), earning the 14th top-10 finish of her career and giving her sole possession of fourth place on Wooster's all-time list.
Men's Soccer - Alex Provost, Denison
Denison sophomore goalkeeper Alex Provost (Glen Ridge, NJ/Montclair Kimberley Academy) guided the Big Red to a 2-0 week with wins over Occidental (2-1) and Pomona-Pitzer (1-0). Provost played all 180 minutes across the two games, making 11 total saves, including eight against Occidental, and recording a shutout against Pomona-Pitzer, while allowing just one goal in a pair of victories.
Women's Soccer - Sarah Deaton, Wittenberg
Wittenberg junior forward Sarah Deaton (Monroe, OH/Monroe) led the Tigers to a 2-1 week that included wins over Otterbein (2-1) and Adrian (2-0) and a hard-fought loss to Hanover (2-0). Deaton assisted the tying goal before scoring the game-winning penalty kick against Otterbein, then scored both unassisted goals in the shutout of Adrian. Across the three games, she totaled three goals, one assist, and seven points on nine shots, with eight on goal.
Volleyball - Jen Proeh, DePauw
DePauw senior middle hitter Jen Proeh (Lake Forest, IL/Lake Forest) hit .441 with 35 kills to help the Tigers to a 3-1 week at the DePauw Invitational, with the lone loss coming in four sets to No. 3-ranked Illinois Wesleyan. Against Monmouth (IL), she recorded 12 kills with a .375 hitting percentage in a four-set win, then followed with nine kills on .444 hitting in a 3-1 win over Anderson (IN). Proeh closed the tournament with a perfect 1.000 hitting percentage, nine kills on nine attempts, in a sweep of Illinois Tech, and added four solo blocks and 14 block assists on the week to earn all-tournament honors.
Milestones & Records (Sept. 8-13)
DePauw, Field Hockey - Senior midfielder Anna Marks (Evanston, IL/Evanston Township) scored her first career goal, opening the scoring in DePauw's 3-1 win over Concordia Wisconsin on Sunday.
DePauw, Football - Senior quarterback Jack Kazmierczak (Carmel, IN/Carmel) threw for a career-high 247 yards off the bench, completing 14-of-22 passes for three touchdowns in a 37-27 loss to WashU.
John Carroll, Field Hockey - Head coach Gina Stephan earned her first win at the helm as the Blue Streaks topped Centre, 1-0, in a 3-2 shootout on Saturday.
John Carroll, Volleyball - Senior setter Tess Murray (Huron, OH/Huron) posted a career-high 36 assists in a 3-1 win over Webster … Head coach Michele Benoit earned her 700th career win in the win over Webster, moving her to 10th among active NCAA Division III volleyball coaches.
Oberlin, Field Hockey - Senior forward Clare Kammeier (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis) posted a career-high two goals and an assist for five points in a 6-1 win over Eastern Mennonite, helping Oberlin to its highest-scoring game since 2013.
Ohio Wesleyan, Field Hockey - Senior midfielder Grace Ammon (Southborough, MA/Algonquin Regional) broke the program's 37-year-old career assists record, collecting two in a 6-3 win over St. Lawrence to reach 26 career helpers.
Wabash, Football - Junior defensive end Camden Singer (Farmersburg, IN/Sullivan) set career single-game highs with five tackles, three tackles for loss and two sacks to help the Little Giants post their first shutout of the season, a 31-0 win over Wittenberg.
WashU, Football - Head coach Aaron Keen earned his first NCAC win as the Bears beat DePauw, 37-27, their first win over a ranked opponent since 2018.
Wittenberg, Men's Soccer - With the Tigers' 2-1 win over No. 23 UMass-Boston, Wittenberg earned its first win over a nationally ranked opponent in over a decade.
