Men's Cross Country - Will Jackson, Denison
Denison sophomore Will Jackson (Wayland, MA/Wayland) placed seventh out of 420 runners at the All-Ohio Intercollegiate Classic, running the 8,000-meter course in 25:30.3 for a 20-second personal best. The sophomore was the third Division III student-athlete to finish and the top NCAC runner in the field, helping Denison place fifth out of 24 teams.
Women's Cross Country - Lieke Everts, Oberlin
Oberlin sophomore Lieke Everts (San Diego, CA/Mt. Carmel) improved her 6,000-meter personal best by 1:15 at the University of Rochester Yellowjacket Invitational, clocking 23:24.3 to place 25th out of 208 runners. Everts’ performance helped Oberlin finish seventh out of 16 teams.
Field Hockey - Lulu Keil, Denison
Denison sophomore forward/midfielder Lulu Keil (Lake Forest, IL/Lake Forest) helped guide the Big Red to a 3-0 week with wins over Wooster (8-1), Marian (WI) (6-3), and Concordia (WI) (4-0). The sophomore totaled five goals and six assists for 16 points across the three games, putting 11 of her 13 shots on goal. Keil had two goals and two assists in the win over the Fighting Scots, scored the game-winning goal and added four assists in the victory against the Sabres, and closed the week with two of Denison's four goals in the win over the Falcons.
Football (Offensive) - Carson Johnson, DePauw
DePauw senior running back Carson Johnson (Indianapolis, IN/Cathedral) rushed for 133 yards on 15 carries, averaging 8.9 yards per carry, and scored two touchdowns in a 56-21 win over Ohio Wesleyan. Johnson scored on runs of two and 69 yards and added two catches for 44 yards, finishing with 177 yards from scrimmage. The senior helped the Tigers total 312 rushing yards and 537 total yards in the win.
Football (Defensive) - Cole Harris, Denison
Denison junior safety Cole Harris (Cincinnati, OH/St. Xavier) recorded two interceptions for 18 return yards and added four solo tackles as the Big Red posted a second consecutive shutout with a 38-0 win over Wooster. Harris picked off the Fighting Scots after their first offensive drive, then intercepted another pass in the third quarter, with the turnover setting up a Denison touchdown.
Men's Golf - Kamden Mowry, John Carroll
John Carroll senior Kamden Mowry (Ashland, OH/Ashland) won medalist honors at the Jimmy Hanlin Invitational, hosted by Ohio Northern at Little Mountain Country Club, a 6,623-yard, par-70 layout. Mowry opened with a 64 to set a John Carroll 18-hole record before firing a 72 to finish the 36-hole tournament at four-under 136. He won by nine strokes and broke a JCU 36-hole record that had stood since 2009 by one stroke, matching a mark teammate Justy VonLehmden (Findlay, OH/Saint John’s Jesuit) also reached competing at the Toftrees Invitational.
Women's Golf - Daisy Williams, DePauw
DePauw sophomore Daisy Williams (Bunker Hill, IN/Maconaquah) shared the top individual finish at the Illinois Wesleyan Fall Classic, hosted by the Titans at Ironwood Golf Course, a 5,823-yard, par-72 layout. She opened the tournament with a three-under 69 and followed with a 74 to finish at one-under 143, tying for the individual lead alongside two other golfers in the 131-player field. Williams made a tournament-high nine birdies, including five in the opening round and four in the second, and helped the Tigers place sixth out of 20 teams.
Men's Soccer - Julian Bell, DePauw
DePauw junior midfielder Julian Bell (Carmel, IN/Brebeuf Jesuit) helped propel the Tigers to a 2-0 week with wins over Rose-Hulman (2-1) and WashU (1-0). The junior scored two of DePauw's three goals across the two games, putting both of his shots on goal in 133 minutes of action. Bell scored the game-tying goal against the Engineers on an assist from junior defender Harrison Engel (St. Louis, MO/MICDS). The two juniors connected again in the win over the Bears, with Bell netting the game-winning goal off an Engel assist.
Women's Soccer - Molly Button, Oberlin
Oberlin sophomore midfielder Molly Button (Red Hook, NY/Red Hook Senior) helped guide the Yeowomen to a 2-0 week with wins over Olivet (5-1) and Penn State Altoona (1-0). The sophomore scored twice just over a minute apart in the opening four minutes against the Comets, including the game's first goal and the game-winner, converting two of her five shots.
Volleyball - Jen Proeh, DePauw
DePauw senior middle hitter Jen Proeh (Lake Forest, IL/Lake Forest) propelled the Tigers to a 2-1 record at the Hanover Invitational with wins over Blackburn (3-0) and Muskingum (3-1) and a loss to Hanover (3-1). She hit .438 against the Beavers, .368 against the Fighting Muskies and .516, including 17 kills, against the Panthers. Across the three matches, Proeh recorded 35 kills with just five errors on 66 attempts for a .455 hitting percentage, averaging 3.18 kills per set. She also totaled 16 blocks, including four solo and 12 assisted, for 1.45 blocks per set, and scored 45.0 points (4.09 per set). Proeh was named to the Hanover Invitational All-Tournament Team for her three-match performance.
Milestones and Records (Sept. 14-20)
Allegheny, Field Hockey - Sophomore defender Bryce Watford (Parkville, MD/Eastern Technical) set a single-game program record with six points on two goals and two assists in the Gators 11-0 win over Transylvania on Saturday. The 11-goal victory also established a program record for goals in a game.
Denison, Football - Head coach Jack Hatem earned his 100th win at Denison on Saturday, guiding the Big Red to a 38-0 shutout at Wooster in his 17th season as head coach.
Ohio Wesleyan, Volleyball – Sophomore defensive specialist Maggi Wall (Washington Court House, OH/Washington) recorded a career-high seven service aces in a 3-2 win over Rose-Hulman on Friday, the third most in program history for a five-set match.
Wabash, Football - Junior wide receiver Domanic Barnett (McCordsville, IN/Mount Vernon) scored the first two receiving touchdowns of his collegiate career in a 34-7 win at Oberlin on Saturday, finishing with four catches for 97 yards, including a career-best 39-yard reception.
Wittenberg, Volleyball - Junior setter Mary Sulfridge (South Charleston, OH/Southeastern) recorded a team-high 35 assists in a 3-1 win over Simpson at the IWU Tournament to surpass 2,000 career assists. She now has 2,070 total assists through 66 matches.
Wooster, Volleyball - The Fighting Scots broke their single-match record with 19 blocks in Friday's match against Olivet. The previous record of 18 blocks came against Denison in 2016.
