2025 All-NCAC Field Hockey Team
Ohio Wesleyan junior Grace Ammon (Southborough, MA/Algonquin Regional) along with Denison juniors Emma Gebhart (Carlisle, MA/Concord Carlisle) and Tabitha Chandler (Washington, DC/National Cathedral School) have all earned back-to-back Player of the Year honors to highlight the 2025 All-North Coast Athletic Conference field hockey selections.
Ammon, who is a three-time selection to the first team, gives Ohio Wesleyan its third-consecutive Midfielder of the Year honor after also being named last season, while former teammate Olivia Danley collected the award in 2023. The 2023 Newcomer of the Year helped lead the Battling Bishops to a near-perfect 8-1 record in conference play to collect their third-straight and 12th overall championship trophy. In conference action, Ammon took 35 shots, 16 of which were on frame, scored six goals, dished three assists and totaled 15 points. Overall, the midfielder tallied eight goals and four assists for 20 points.
Gebhart, now a two-time NCAC Player of the Year selection, captures Denison's seventh overall Offensive Player of the Year honor. The junior earned her second All-NCAC certificate, making back-to-back appearances on the top team. Overall, Gebhart leads the league in goals (22), assists (9), points (53), shots (88) and shots on goal (60), while tying for second in game-winning goals (5). In league action, the midfielder led the conference with 61 shots, 42 shots on goal, 18 goals, eight assists and 44 points. Gebhart tallied a career high five goals twice this season against NCAC opponents, while three of her 18 league goals were game winners. The junior tallied at least one point in eight of her team's nine NCAC matchups. The Big Red collected their league-leading 14th NCAC championships title after posting a 9-1 record in NCAC action this fall.
Chandler earns Denison its eighth overall NCAC Defensive Player of the Year recognition and is the Big Red's third-consecutive honoree after she collected the award last season and former teammate Grace Lock earned the title in 2023. The junior has been named to the All-NCAC first team for the second-straight season after claiming second-team laurels in 2023. Chandler helped lead the Big Red to a near-perfect 8-1 mark in NCAC play, which qualified the team for their 16th-straight appearance in the NCAC Tournament. The defender anchored a Denison backline that allowed just three goals through nine conference games to post a minuscule 0.33 goals-against-average and six shutouts. Chandler and the Big Red defense allowed no more than five shots on goal in all nine NCAC games, including holding opponents to no more than one shot on frame in five conference matchups. Denison entered the NCAC tournament as the number two seed and captured their sixth NCAC tournament crown.
Denison senior defender Rachel Gilio (New Canaan, CT/New Canaan) and a pair of DePauw seniors, forward Hailey Nowak (Oak Park, IL/Oak Park & River Forest) and midfielder Maggie Volpe (Lake Forest, IL/Lake Forest), are the only four-time All-NCAC selections on this year's squad. Nowak collects her fourth first-team all-conference certificate, while Gilio and Volpe elevate to the top team after three-straight selections to the second team. Ohio Wesleyan senior midfielder Alyssa Markell (Leesburg, VA/Loudoun County) makes her third-consecutive appearance on the first team, while Allegheny sophomore goalkeeper Rowan O'Toole (Glen Burnie, MD/Archbishop Spalding), the 2024 Newcomer of the Year, collects her second-straight first-team honor. Oberlin junior midfielder Bella Tilford (Louisville, KY/DuPont Manual) earns a nod to the top team after second-team laurels a season ago; Ohio Wesleyan senior forward Emma Wright (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) makes the jump to the top team after third-team honors in 2022 and 2023; while Kenyon junior midfielder Casey Master (Watertown, MA/Watertown) makes her All-NCAC debut on the top team this season.
In addition, Denison first-year forward Lulu Keil (Lake Forest, IL/Lake Forest) was named the 2025 NCAC Newcomer of the Year as the league's top player in their first year of collegiate competition. Keil is the eighth Big Red rookie to claim the honor, and the first since Michelle Kabaira was selected in 2017. So far this season, Keil started in all 18 of Denison's games and currently ranks in the top five in the NCAC in shots on goal (29), goals (11), game-winning goals (5), assists (5) and points (27). In nine conference games, the rookie recorded eight goals and four assists for 20 points.
Oberlin claimed the 2025 Coaching Staff of the Year honor, the third coaching award in program history. Under the leadership of Head Coach Jess West and Assistant Coach Emily Harris, the Yeowomen made remarkable strides this season, continuing to build a culture of growth, resilience, and competitive excellence. Under the duo, Oberlin celebrates its first All-NCAC first-team selection since 2016, a testament to the team's continued rise within the conference. The Yeowomen tied for their winningest season since 2011, showcasing measurable improvement on both sides of the ball. Offensively, Oberlin increased its scoring output by 12 goals, while defensively, the team allowed less than half as many goals as last season, cutting its goals-against total from 50 to just 24, a .480 improvement. The team's progress was fueled by standout individual performances that reflect the staff's development-focused approach. Senior goalkeeper Janny McCormick (Arlington, VA/Washington-Liberty) recorded 75 saves this season, raising her career total to 347, making her fifth all-time in program history. Senior defender Elly Scheer (Morristown, NJ/Morristown) anchored the backline with a conference-best five defensive saves, which moved her into second all-time at Oberlin with 22 in her career. Through player development, tactical improvement, and a renewed team culture, West and Harris have positioned the Yeowomen for sustained success, marking 2025 as a transformative season.
