2024 All-NCAC Women's Soccer Team
DePauw junior midfielder Jayla Logan (Arcadia, IN/Hamilton Heights), Oberlin senior forward Heather Benway (San Carlos, CA/Sequoia) and Ohio Wesleyan junior goalkeeper Natalie Ryan (Beavercreek, OH/Dayton Carroll) were named the Players of the Year to highlight the 2024 All-North Coast Athletic Conference women's soccer selections.
Benway, a three-time selection to the All-NCAC first team after claiming second-team accolades in 2021, collects her third-straight Offensive Player of the Year honor. In 16 matches, the senior led the league with the most goals (11), points (24), shots (72) and shots on goal (37), while tying for the second-most game-winning goals (3). In NCAC action, Benway also recorded the most goals (6), points (13), shots (37) and shots on goal (22), while tying for the second-most game-winning goals (2). The forward is the second Oberlin player to earn the honor after Gwennie Gardiner was selected in 2017. Notably, she is only the second overall player in the NCAC to claim the award in three-consecutive seasons after Ohio Wesleyan's Sarah Wall earned the hardware four-straight years from 2002-05.
Logan, the 2024 Midfielder of the Year, earns her first all-conference certificate with a selection to the top team. The junior is the third DePauw player to collect Midfielder of the Year honors, and the first since former teammate Annalise Grammel claimed the award in 2022. Logan and the DePauw backline held NCAC opponents to four goals for a minuscule 0.57 goals-against average to go along with three shutouts. Overall, the Tigers have shut out eight opponents and allowed just 21 goals (1.05 GAA) in 20 games. The midfielder also contributed on the offensive end, netting one goal and dishing one assist. DePauw captured its third NCAC tournament title and will be making its ninth overall appearance on the national stage. The Tigers will open play in St. Louis, Missouri with a first-round game against host Washington University in St. Louis on Saturday, November 16.
Ryan, the 2024 Defensive Player of the Year, earns her second-consecutive All-NCAC first-team certificate after earning a second-team selection in 2022. The junior is the Battling Bishops' fifth overall and second-straight Defensive Player of the Year honoree after former teammate Madison Cofer claimed the honor a season ago. Ryan anchored one of the NCAC's best defensive units that shut out a league-high five opponents. Compared to NCAC goalkeepers who played all 630:00 minutes of conference action between the posts, Ryan allowed the fewest number of goals (4) to tie for the second-lowest goals-against average (0.57). In 17 total games, the 2022 Newcomer of the Year posted an NCAC-high eight shutouts, tied for the best save percentage (.857) and produced the second-lowest goals-against average (0.65).
Denison sophomore Mara McGlone (Worthington, OH/Worthington Kilbourne), Wooster senior Hallie Krzys (Berea, OH/Berea-Midpark) and Wittenberg senior Chamberlain Browning (Troy, OH/Troy) join Oberlin's Benway on the first team as forwards. Krzys collects her fourth-straight All-NCAC honor after claiming second-team laurels in 2023, first-team accolades in 2022 and honorable mention in 2021, while McGlone elevates to the first team after a third-team selection last season and Browning earns her first All-NCAC nod.
Joining Logan as first-team midfielders are seniors Brooke Mullis (Lawrenceburg, IN/Taylor) from Wittenberg and Alyssa Lubba (Torrance, CA/South) from Wooster. Mullis earns a second-consecutive selection to the first team after an honorable mention nod in 2021, while Lubba makes her all-conference debut.
Denison senior Kate Dalimonte (Hingham, MA/Hingham) and junior Sarah Sollinger (Evanston, IL/Evanston Township) along with DePauw junior Macy Happe (Evansville, IN/Evansville North) were named first-team defenders. Dalimonte captures her second-straight first-team certificate, while Sollinger collects first-team honors after second-team accolades last season and Happe earns her first All-NCAC certificate.
Kenyon first-year forward Emily Copeland (Worthington, OH/Bishop Watterson), who was named to the All-NCAC second team this season, was tabbed the 2024 NCAC Newcomer of the Year as the league's top player in their first year of collegiate competition. The rookie claims the Owls' first conference Newcomer of the Year award. In 14 games, all of which the first-year started, Copeland recorded a team-high eight points, as she found the back of the net four times, one of which was the game-winner. Currently, the forward ranks fourth in the NCAC in shots per game at 2.57, and against NCAC opponents, the forward posted the second-most shots with 23 to rank behind only Offensive Player of the Year Benway.
Denison was tabbed the 2024 Coaching Staff of the Year, the 10th coaching award in program history. The Big Red are led by Head Coach Sarah Brink and Assistant Coaches Paul Wise and Dr. Veerendra Lele. The Denison squad claimed its 12th NCAC women's soccer crown after finishing the season with a 5-1-1 mark in league play. In 18 games, the Big Red offense produced 74 points on 26 goals and 22 assists, while the defense produced a league-best 10 shutouts and 0.61 goals-against average. In league play, Denison topped the NCAC with 41 points (14 goals, 13 assists) and posted a league-low 0.29 goals-against average after allowing just two goals and recording five shutouts.
