2021 NCAC Football Players of the Week

OFFENSIVE DEFENSIVE
 September 7th
 

Liam Thompson, Wabash 
(Indianapolis, IN/North Central)

Wabash junior quarterback Liam Thompson threw for a career-high 340 yards and matched a career-best mark with three touchdown passes in the Little Giants' 33-23 win at Rose-Hulman Saturday evening. Thompson's 19 completions were also the second-most in his career, trailing only a 24-completion game against Wooster in 2019. He also led Wabash in rushing with a career-best 87 yards on 12 attempts and a rushing touchdown.

 

Isaiah Davilla, Hiram
(Austin, TX/Akins)

Hiram senior linebacker Isaiah Davilla forced three turnovers in the Terriers' season-opening win against Bethany. Davilla recorded a pair of interceptions which he returned for a combined 19 yards, while also forcing and recovering a fumble against the Bison. Davilla finished the game with six total tackles for the Terriers.

 September 13th
 

Carter Warstler, Wooster 
(New Albany, OH/Columbus Academy)

Wooster sophomore Carter Warstler  turned three receptions into 148 yards and two scores during Saturday's win over Kenyon. Warstler burst through the Lords' defense for a 77-yard touchdown on a screen pass on his first collegiate reception and added a 54-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter.

 

Jeff Moore, Denison
(Richmond, VA/St. Christopher's)

Denison sophomore Jeff Moore made 13 tackles, seven of which were solo tackles, and added two tackles for a loss in the Big Red's shutout of Allegheny on Saturday. Moore, the conference's tackle leader, helped hold the Gators to 160 yards of offense, including just 25 on the ground.

 September 20th
 

Drew Dawkins, Denison
(Evanston, IL/Evanston Township)

Denison senior Drew Dawkins accounted for four touchdowns in Denison's win at Oberlin. Dawkins threw for 225 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing seven times for 23 yards and a touchdown. His three touchdown passes were of 32, 65 and 80 yards.

 

K.D. Melton, Ohio Wesleyan
(Warner Robins, GA/Houston County)

Ohio Wesleyan senior K.D. Melton made four tackles, two for loss, and rang up two sacks in the Battling Bishop's win over Wooster. In the second quarter, he also intercepted a pass and ran it back 26 yards for a defensive touchdown.

 September 27th
 

Kenny Streb, Ohio Wesleyan
(Willowick, OH/Eastlake North)

Ohio Wesleyan senior Kenny Streb scored the go-ahead touchdown as the Battling Bishops moved to 4-0 after a victory against Allegheny on Saturday. The senior finished the day with a team-high four receptions for 33 yards and a touchdown. He also had 49 punt-return and 18 kick-return yards for a total of 102 all-purpose yards.

 

Jimmy Lane, Kenyon
(Lexington, MA/Lexington)

Kenyon senior Jimmy Lane made a team-leading 10 total tackles, including one for loss, in the Lords' 24-21 victory over Oberlin. Lane also forced two fumbles which were both in the second half of the game.

 October 4th
 

Ryan O'Leary, Kenyon
(Manasquan, NJ/Manasquan)

Kenyon junior quarterback Ryan O'Leary threw for 190 yards and two touchdowns as the Lords defeated Allegheny on Saturday. O'Leary also rushed seven times for 18 yards, finding the endzone twice.

 

Logan Jewsikow, Wittenberg
(Clayton, OH/Northmont)

Wittenberg senior linebacker Logan Jewsikow recorded seven tackles in the Tiger's 24-23 win over Ohio Wesleyan. Down 23-21 with 2:20 remaining in the fourth quarter, Jewsikow came up with a key fumble recovery that led to a game-winning field goal.

 October 11th
 

Liam Thompson, Wabash
(Indianapolis, IN/North Central)

Wabash junior Liam Thompson threw for 255 yards and two touchdowns, while also adding 41 yards of rushing and another score in the Little Giants' win over Oberlin. Thompson was an efficient 16-for-20 passing with no interceptions for a 220.1 passer rating. The junior currently leads the NCAC and ranks 17th among Division III players in passing efficiency with a season mark of 175.6.

 

Luke Marsh, DePauw
(Whitestown, IN/Western Boone)

DePauw freshman Luke Marsh made a fourth-quarter interception in the program's first win at Wittenberg on Saturday. His interception with 11:43 remaining in the game was returned for a touchdown, turning a 7-3 deficit into a 10-7 lead, en route to a 17-14 victory. He was also part of a Tiger defense that held Wittenberg to 248 yards of offense which was their lowest total since Wooster limited them to 243 yards on Oct. 3, 2015.

 October 18th
 

Mateo Renteria, Wooster
(Houston, TX/Cypress Creek)

Wooster senior Mateo Renteria completed 28-of-41 passes for a career-high 408 yards during the Fighting Scots' 44-41 win over Wabash on Saturday. He was responsible for four touchdowns overall while his 408 yards marked the sixth-most in single-game program history and the eighth time a Wooster signal-caller surpassed 400 yards. The senior's three touchdown passes upped his career total to 45, the fifth-most in Wooster history.

 

Uber Elisee, Allegheny
(Miami, FL/North Miami Beach)

Allegheny junior defensive lineman Uber Elisee piled up two sacks and three tackles-for-loss in the Gators' conference win over Hiram Saturday. Elisee was also part of a defense that held the Terriers to just 233 yards of offense, the fewest offensive yards given up by the Gators this season.

 October 25th
 

Chris Allen Jr., Oberlin
(Acto, NJ/St. Augustine Prep)

Oberlin junior quarterback Chris Allen Jr. accounted for all four Yeomen touchdowns and 351 yards of offense in a 31-28 victory at Hiram. The junior completed 24-of-36 passes for 247 yards and two touchdowns to go along with a career-high 104 rushing yards and two more touchdowns on the ground.

 

Marquel Henry, Ohio Wesleyan
(Dayton, OH/Chaminade Julienne)

Ohio Wesleyan sophomore Marquel Henry made six tackles in the Battling Bishops' 35-28 win over Wabash. Three of Henry's tackles were for loss while he also sacked the quarterback twice in the game. In the second quarter, the sophomore recovered a fumble which ultimately led to an OWU touchdown before halftime. The win was Ohio Wesleyan's first over Wabash at home since 1970.

 November 1st
 

Liam Thompson, Wabash

Wabash junior Liam Thompson accounted for six Little Giant touchdowns in the team's win at Kenyon on Saturday. Thompson completed 18-of-27 passes for a career-high 431 yards with three passing touchdowns, while also rushing 11 times for 40 yards, and scoring on scrambles of three, seven and eight yards.

 

Dylan Hyatt, DePauw
(Brazil, IN/Northview)

DePauw senior Dylan Hyatt recorded four tackles and posted his second multiple-interception game of the season in a win against Denison on Saturday. Hyatt's interceptions led to 10 of DePauw's 27 points as the Tigers clinched at least a share of the NCAC title with the win.

 November 8th
 

Mateo Renteria, Wooster
(Houston, TX/Cypress Creek)

Wooster senior Mateo Renteria set single-game program records for total offense (550), passing yards (506), passing touchdowns (6), and completions (38) during the Fighting Scots' win over Allegheny on Saturday. Renteria is now second all-time in program history with 7,388 yards passing and third with 57 passing touchdowns.

 

Owen Albers, Ohio Wesleyan
(North Ridgeville, OH/Lutheran West)

Ohio Wesleyan senior Owen Albers recorded a game-high 15 tackles in the Battling Bishops win against Kenyon on Saturday. Albers made a half tackle-for-loss on a third-down that ended a Lords drive and had a pass breakup in the game.

 November 15th
 

Donovan Snyder, Wabash
(Mishawaka, IN/Mishawaka)

Wabash sophomore running back Donovan Snyder ran for a game-high 137 yards and scored one touchdown to help the Little Giants win the 127th Monon Bell Classic in a 42-35 victory over DePauw on Saturday. Snyder ripped off a 37-yard run for a score in the fourth quarter to give the Little Giants their first lead of the day which they would never relinquish. He averaged 4.7 yards per carry on 29 attempts.

 

Connor Walls, Wittenberg
(Centerville, OH/Centerville)

Wittenberg sophomore Conner Walls logged six tackles, 3.5 for loss, in Saturday's season-finale win over Wooster. Walls also logged a season-high 2.5 sacks for a combined 16 yards and forced a fumble in the first quarter at the Wooster 25-yard line.
