2019-20 NCAC Men's Basketball Athletes of the Week

November 11th
Jalen Kirksey, Hiram
(Massillon, OH/Washington)

 

Hiram junior Jalen Kirksey was named the Wells College Finger Lakes Classic Tournament MVP after the Terriers took a pair of games on the weekend. Kirksey posted 25 points, 10 rebounds and three assists in a 71-67 win over Wells before adding 21 points, five rebounds and three assists in a 94-74 victory over Keuka. 

November 18th
Jordan Rawls, Allegheny
(Pittsburgh, PA/Taylor Allderdice)

 

Allegheny senior Jordan Rawls (Pittsburgh, PA/Taylor Allderdice) led the Gators to a 3-0 record to begin the season, averaging 24.3 points per game, including a 33 point performance in the season opener against Carnegie Mellon. He also hit 60 percent of his shots, including 12-of-18 from behind the three-point line.

November 25th
Jack Davidson, Wabash
(Fishers, IN/Hamilton Southeastern)

 

Junior Jack Davidson led Wabash to the Nicholas Investments Tournament title and earned tournament MVP honors as part of a three-win week for the Little Giants. He scored a game-high 34 points in Friday's 137-131 win over Greenville to help Wabash break the school record for points scored in a game. He then netted 23 points in the championship game against Carroll on Saturday. Davidson posted a 19-point effort against Earlham earlier in the week.

December 2nd
Ugnius Zilinskas, Kenyon
(Kedainiai, Lithuania/Kimball Union Academy)

 

Junior Ugnius Zilinskas played a huge role in Kenyon's 69-65 win at DePauw, as he scored a game-high and career-high 34 points, including hitting the go-ahead three-pointer with just 14 seconds left. For the game, he played 35 minutes and shot 75 percent (12-of-16). He also shot 80 percent (8-of-10) at the free throw line, grabbed eight rebounds and had two steals.

December 9th

Danyon Hempy, Wooster
(Waldo, OH/River Valley)

Wooster senior Danyon Hempy drained a 15-foot jumper from the wing with 5.1 seconds left to lift the Fighting Scots to a 62-61 win at Allegheny on Wednesday. Hempy finished with 18 points against the Gators before scoring a game-high 21 points during Wooster's 79-74 win over Wabash, a team that was receiving votes in the national polls.

December 16th

Joshua Friedkin, Oberlin
(Emeryville, CA/Albany)

Oberlin senior Joshua Friedkin became the 26th player in school history to surpass 1,000 career points, doing so in grand fashion against previously unbeaten Defiance. His go-ahead three-pointer with 25 seconds to play not only gave the Yeomen a 70-69 lead and the win, but it also lifted his career points total to 1,001. He finished the game with a team-high 17 points to go along with four assists.

December 23rd

Caden Hinckley, Allegheny
(Boise, Idaho/Mount Lebannon)

Allegheny sophomore Caden Hinckley led the Gators to their first win over Ohio Wesleyan in 10 years, snapping a 20-game drought against the Bishops with a 95-83 win in Meadville. He established a new career-high with 30 points, connecting on 12-of-21 shots from the floor. Hinckley also recorded five rebounds, three steals and two blocks.

January 6th

Ethan Stanislawski, Ohio Wesleyan
(Massillon, OH/Jackson)

Ohio Wesleyan sophomore Ethan Stanislawski helped the Battling Bishops to a pair of victories last week, including a conference win against No. 24-ranked Wooster. Against the Fighting Scots, Stanislawski posted a team-high 13 points and five rebounds. On the week, the sophomore guard averaged 17.5 points and 6.7 rebounds across three games.

January 13th

Jake Bertemes, Wittenberg
(Springfield, OH/Southeastern)

Wittenberg senior Jake Bertemes helped the Tigers to a pair of road victories last week. The guard tallied a season-high 21 points along with six assists and four rebounds in a win over Hiram, while also notching 11 points and six assists against Denison. On the week, he shot 68.8 percent from the field (11-of-16) and 75 percent from downtown (3-of-4).

January 20th

Danyon Hempy, Wooster
(Waldo, OH/River Valley)

Wooster senior Danyon Hempy scored a game-high 27 points during the 20th-ranked Fighting Scots' 98-86 win over No. 2, and previously unbeaten, Wittenberg on Saturday. Hempy was 11-of-15 from the floor and dished out four assists during the 120th meeting in one of small college basketball's greatest all-time rivalries. Hempy averaged 27.5 points per game and shot 67.7 percent (21-of-26) during a 2-0 week for the Scots.

January 27th

Connor Seipel, Wittenberg
(Columbus, OH/Groveport Madison)

Wittenberg senior Connor Seipel helped power the Tigers to a pair of NCAC victories against Ohio Wesleyan and Oberlin last week. In Saturday's victory over the Yeomen, Seipel produced his 10th double-double of the season scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. On the week, he averaged 10 points, 11 rebounds, 2.5 assists and one steal per game.

February 3rd

Kellen Screiber, Wabash
(Indianapolis, IN/Roncalli)

Wabash sophomore Kellen Schreiber recorded a double-double on Wednesday with 10 points and 10 rebounds to lift the Little Giants to an 80-77 victory at Ohio Wesleyan. Saturday, Schreiber produced 15 points and six rebounds in the Little Giants' 68-67 victory over 17th-ranked Wooster. Schreiber hit what proved to be the game-winning basket with 5.2 seconds left in the contest, moving Wabash into a tie for second place in the NCAC standings.

February 10th

Nolan Ginther, DePauw
(Noblesville, IN/Noblesville)

DePauw junior Nolan Ginther helped the Tigers to a pair of conference victories over Hiram and Allegheny last week. Ginther netted 15 points and 10 rebounds in a win against the Terriers before posting a career-high 38 points and 14 rebounds against the Gators. 

February 17th

Christian Fioretti, Oberlin
(Menlo Park, CA/Menlo-Atherton)

Oberlin senior Christian Fioretti guided the Yeomen to a pair of league wins last week. Fioretti scored 25 points, gathered seven rebounds and dished out four assists in a 74-64 win against Allegheny, before following it up with a 26-point, five-rebound showing in an 84-69 road win at Hiram. On the week, he hit 21-of-31 attempts for a 67.7 success rate, which included a 75 percent (6-of-8) performance from beyond the arc. 

February 24th

Freeman Brou, Denison
(Richmond, IN/Northeastern)

Denison sophomore Freeman Brou helped the Big Red to a pair of victories over DePauw and Ohio Wesleyan last week. Against the Batting Bishops, Brou recorded a career-high 26 points on 11-of-19 shooting, to go along with five rebounds and three assists. He also knocked down a pair of threes, helping the Big Red break a school record with 17 threes made in the game. On the week, he averaged 18 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists.
