2021 NCAC Cross Country Runners of the Week

MEN WOMEN
September 7th 
Keanan Ginell, Denison
(Naperville, IL/Neuqua Valley)


Denison senior Keanan Ginell won the 5k race at the Kenyon College Tri-Meet with a time of 16:06.7, finishing 41 seconds ahead of the second-place runner.
Alice Riley, Kenyon
(Canterbury, NH/Belmont)


Kenyon junior Alice Riley won the season-opening 5k race at home against Denison and Mount Vernon Nazerene. Riley crossed the line in 19:40.8, nearly 17 seconds ahead of the next runner. 

September 13th 
Keanan Ginell, Denison
(Naperville, IL/Neuqua Valley)


Denison senior Keanan Ginell won his second straight race to open the 2021 season, helping lead the Big Red to a second-place team finish at Wittenberg's NCAC Preview Meet. Ginell won the men's 8k race with a time of 26:17.3, 11 seconds quicker than the second-place runner. 
Athena Tharenos, Wooster
(St. Louis, MO/Mary Institute & St. Louis Country Day School)


Wooster sophomore Athena Tharenos logged a time of 23:39.6 in her championship-length cross country debut at Wittenberg's NCAC Preview. Tharenos was the top conference finisher and was second overall out of 118 competitors.

September 20th 
Tim Weighart, Allegheny
(Brookline, MA/Brookline)


Allegheny senior Tim Weighart won the Allegheny Classic which featured seven teams and 72 participants. Weighart recorded a time of 21:23.7 over the 6,436-meter course for an average of 5:21 per mile. The Gators won the invite with 19 points after notching four of the top five individual finishes.
Athena Tharenos, Wooster
(St. Louis, MO/Mary Institute & St. Louis Country Day School)


Wooster sophomore Athena Tharenos logged a 6K time of 23:46.3, taking fifth at the All-Ohio Championships. Tharenos was the top-placing conference runner at the 13-team event.

September 27th 
Nathan Bertman, Denison
(Chagrin Falls, OH/Kenston)


Denison freshman Nathan Bertman collected a runner-up finish in a dual meet against Wooster on Tuesday. Bertman notched a 6K time of 16:54.6, clocking in at 5:26.2 per mile. Denison won the meet after collecting four of the top five finishes.
Emily Willson, Denison
(Dunstable, MA/Groton-Dunstable)


Denison senior Emily Willson finished first in a dual meet against Wooster on Tuesday evening, completing the 5K course in 19:59.8. Willson was the only runner below a 6:30 mile time, recording 6:25.8 per mile.

October 4th 
Keegan Minahan, Kenyon
(Seattle, WA/Northwest)


Kenyon sophomore Keegan Minahan finished in fourth place, first among NCAC runners at the Muskingum Invitational on Saturday. Minahan completed the 8K course in 28:11.7, an average of 5:40.4 per mile.
Isabelle Hoover, Wooster
(Millersport, OH/Fairfield Union)


Wooster junior Isabelle Hoover won the Muskingum Invitational on Saturday, beating a field of 81 competitors. Hoover posted a winning 6K time of 23:55.6, averaging 6:24.9 per mile.

October 18th 
Keanan Ginell, Denison
(Naperville, IL/Nequa Valley)


Denison senior Keanan Ginell placed 13th among 306 competitors and first among NCAC entrants in the men's 8k varsity race at the Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble. Ginell posted a time of 26:03.9, averaging 5:14.7 per mile.

 
Megan Aaron, Allegheny
(Cranberry Twp., PA/Seneca Valley)


Allegheny junior Megan Aaron took third among 302 competitors, first among NCAC entrants, in the women's varsity 6k race at the Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble. Aaron crossed in 22:11.5, averaging 5:56 per mile. Allegheny also finished third overall among 34 teams.
