Zeke Bennett, Wittenberg
(Hilliard, OH/Bradley)


Wittenberg senior Zeke Bennett recorded two first-place finishes at the Tiger Opener over the weekend. Bennett beat out 28 other competitors in the 400-meter dash (49.26), while the Tigers defeated seven other teams in the 4x400-meter relay (3:24.68). Both times are among the top-10 in Division III so far this season.

 
Conor Kolka, Wittenberg
(Dexter, MI/Dexter)


Wittenberg freshman Conor Kolka set a new indoor program record in the 3,000-meter run at the Tiger Opener, collecting a winning time of 8:38.16. The previous record had stood for 28 years, set by Jeremy Kaufman (8:46.00) during the 1994-95 season.

 


Chris Slater, Denison
(Hudson, OH/Hudson)


Denison freshman Chris Slater took second place in the weight throw with a long toss of 16.09 meters. The rookie also took sixth in the shot put with a heave of 13.27 meters in his collegiate debut at the Tiger Open. Slater's weight throw mark was the tops in the conference so far this season and 11th in NCAA Division III.

Blake Reed, Wabash
(Plymouth, IN/Plymouth)


Wabash junior Blake Reed produced two top-seven finishes in the 200-meter and 60-meter dashes in the Little Giants' Horace Turner Invitational Friday evening. Reed placed third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.53, which ties for the third-quickest time in the conference so far this season. He advanced to the finals of the 60-meter dash with a prelim time of 7.27 for the fastest time of his college career. Reed finished in seventh place in the finals with a time of 7.31.

  

 
Drake Hayes, Wabash
(Crawfordsville, IN/Southmont)


Wabash sophomore Drake Hayes won the 3,000-meter run at Friday evening's Horace Turner Invitational. He finished the event with a collegiate-best time of 9:19.28 to take first out of nine runners competing in the race.





 

 
Zac Ntia, Oberlin
(Wooster, OH/Wooster)


Oberlin senior Zac Ntia ripped off a career-best heave of 16.82 meters in the weight throw at the Tiffin University Andres Family College Open, moving into the top spot in the conference and 11th in Division III this season. He also produced the fifth-best mark among NCAC competitors in the shot put with his toss of 12.96 meters.


 

January 17th

 
Tapiwa Gono Phiri, Kenyon
(Ndola, Zambia/Hillcrest National Tech)


Kenyon freshman Tapiwa Gono Phiri led the Lords to a second place finish at the Wooster Invitational on Saturday. The first-year won the 200-meter dash in 23.62 seconds after taking second in the 60 meters (7.13). After his individual races, he anchored Kenyon's 800-meter relay team which secured a first-place finish with a time of 1:35.35.

 
Ian McCandlish, Wittenberg

Wittenberg freshman Ian McCandlish posted two victories at the Otterbein Snow Globe Invitational. In the 800-meter dash, McCandlish broke the tape in 1:57.97, followed by helping the Tiger 4x400 relay to a first-place finish with a time of 3:38.66.



 

 
Zack Lee, Oberlin
(New York, NY/Bard High School Early College)


Oberlin junior Zack Lee turned in two personal-best performances at the Wooster Invitational. Lee moved into first in the conference and 23rd in the country in the triple jump with a mark of 13.68 meters. He also placed fourth in the 200 meters with a career-best time of 24.84.

 

January 24th

 
Matthew Drovdlic, Wittenberg
(Hilliard, OH/Hilliard Bradley)


Wittenberg sophomore Matthew Drovdlic was part of two victories and a new school record this past weekend at the Wooster Fighting Scots Invitational. Drovdlic finished first among 37 entrants in the 60-meter dash, timing in at 7.17 seconds, while also helping the Tiger 4x200 relay team to a first-place finish in 1:31.06, a new program record time. The sophomore also finished fourth in the 200-meter dash, clocking in at 23.36 seconds.

 
Ethan Pine, Wabash
(Greenwood, IN/Greenwood)


Wabash senior Ethan Pine recorded the NCAC's fastest time of the season in the mile run at the Indianapolis Fast Track Classic on Saturday. Pine clocked in at 4:21.47, which is also a top-50 time in Division III so far this season.







 

 
Riley Orth, Kenyon 
(Cincinnati, OH/Anderson)


Kenyon sophomore Riley Orth won the men's shot put event at the Wooster Fighting Scots Invitational on Saturday. Orth turned in a 14.12-meter throw, registering the best mark in the conference so far this season.

Wittenberg junior Zeke Bennett tallied two blistering times over the weekend at the Steemer Showcase. In the men's 400-meter dash, Bennett timed in at 49.62 seconds, registering the top conference mark of the season. The junior also helped the Tiger 4x400 relay team to a top conference mark of 3:22.55 in the meet.

 
Keanan Ginell, Denison
(Naperville, IL/Neuqua Valley)


Denison senior Keanan Ginell recorded the best conference time of the season in the 5,000-meter run at the Steemer Showcase. Ginell timed in at 14:54.29, also a top-35 time in Division III this season.




 

 
Dylan Garretson, Wooster
(Newcomerstown, OH/Newcomerstown)


Wooster sophomore Dylan Garretson took first in the pole vault after breaking Jeff Waugh's 1989 school record on his first try at 4.65m at Thursday's dual meet against Denison. Garretson's mark is tied for 12th nationally. The Fighting Scots won the meet, 74-73.

 

February 7th

 
Tylir Shannon, Allegheny
(Transfer, PA/Reynolds)


Allegheny senior Tylir Shannon was part of three victories at the Oberlin Dan Kinsey Invitational. The senior won the 60-meter dash in 7.03 seconds and the 200-meter dash in 22.90 seconds, both times ranking as the NCAC's fastest so far this season. He also helped propel the Gators 4x200 team to a victory in 1:33.74 seconds.










 

 
Charley Morris, Ohio Wesleyan
(Denver, CO/Denver School of the Arts)


Ohio Wesleyan freshman Charley Morris won the 800-meter run in 2:03.74 at the Bob Shannon Invitational. He also helped the Battling Bishop 4x400-meter relay team win in a time of 3:32.65.















 

 
Jacob Brown, Denison
(Dover, MA/Dover-Sherborn)


Sophomore Jacob Brown finished first overall in the heptathlon competition at the 2022 All-Ohio Indoor Track & Field Combined Events Championships. Brown tallied a school-record 4,226 points over seven events while claiming four event titles and finishing 310 points ahead of second place. On Saturday, Brown won three of the four events for a total of 2,500 points, placing first in the 60-meter dash (7.45), the long jump (6.23m) and the shot put (11.31m) while earning second in the high jump (1.73m). On Sunday, Brown was second in the 60-meter hurdles (9.03) and the pole vault (2.74m), and then won the final event of the competition, the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:57.32.

February 14th

 
Tylir Shannon, Allegheny

Allegheny senior Tylir Shannon was part of two victories at the Baldwin-Wallace Mid-February Meet. The senior won the 400-meter dash in 51.63 seconds, while also helping propel the Gators 4x400 team to a victory in 3:35.79. Shannon's 400 time ranks second among NCAC Athletes so far this season.

 
Ian McCandlish, Wittenberg

Wittenberg junior Ian McCandlish defeated 14 other competitors in the 800-meter run (1:55.45) at the All-Ohio Championships. He also helped the Tigers' 4x400-meter relay team to a runner-up finish in a time of 3:27.58.

 

 
Isaiah Kidd, Wooster
(Henrico, VA/Varina)


Wooster freshman Isaiah Kidd now ranks No. 1 among NCAC athletes this season in the long jump after a collegiate-best mark of 6.83 meters at Saturday's All-Ohio Championships. Kidd also recorded the fifth-best mark in the triple jump, notching a 12.65-meter leap.

February 21st

 
Tapiwa Gono Phiri, Kenyon
(Ndola, Zambia/Hillcrest National Tech)


Kenyon freshman Tapiwa Gono Phiri broke the program record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.04 seconds in a dual meet with Wooster. His winning time broke a 2013 record set by Carlo Gagliardo (7.10). In the 200-meter dash, Gono Phiri missed breaking another Kenyon record by four-hundredths of a second with a winning time of 22.75. Both times are top-two in the conference so far this season.

 
Alex DeLong, Wooster
(East Greenwich, RI/East Greenwich)


Wooster senior Alex DeLong posted a lifetime best 1:57.55 in the 800 meters at Friday's dual meet with Kenyon. DeLong led a field of seven in the event and currently has the fifth-fastest conference time in the event heading into this week's NCAC Championships.





 

 
Max Bigler, Wabash
(Grapevine, TX/Grapevine)


Wabash senior Max Bigler won the heptathlon to kick off the 2022 NCAC Indoor Track and Field Championships. He scored a total of 4,338 points after taking first in the high jump (1.92m), third in the 60-meter hurdles (9.17), tying for third in the pole vault (3.56m), fifth in the 60-meter dash (7.52), sixth in the 1,000-meter run (3:00.50), seventh in the long jump (5.94m) and ninth in the shot put (9.59m).
