Wabash junior Liam Thompson threw for a career-high 380 yards and amassed a total of 482 offensive yards in The Gentlemen's Classic, giving the Little Giants a 52-48 victory over Hampden-Sydney. Thompson completed 23-of-37 passes including four touchdowns, while rushing for a game-high 102 yards and two touchdowns in the victory. His 482 yards of total offense ranked third-best in Division III for the opening weekend.

Denison senior Clay Denstorff recorded a sack, a forced fumble and a big 39-yard pick six to help lead the Big Red to a home victory over Capital under the lights on Saturday.

Mateo Renteria, Wooster
(Houston, TX/Cypress Creek)


Wooster senior Mateo Renteria completed 27-of-43 passes for 396 yards and three touchdowns in Saturday's NCAC win over Hiram. Renteria became the Fighting Scots' all-time leader in passing yards in the win, reaching 8,491 for his career, and he also tied Wooster's career record with 65 touchdown passes. Renteria's 396 yards were the fourth-most in his career and it was his ninth-career 300-yard game.

Wooster junior Kobe Nadu logged two of the Fighting Scots' eight sacks in Saturday's win at Hiram. Nadu compiled a loss of 19 yards over the two sacks and finished the game with three tackles overall.

Wabash junior Liam Thonpson threw for a career-best 435 yards and matched his career-high mark with four touchdown passes in Saturday's win at Wooster. Thompson completed 28 of 31 passes for a 90.3 completion percentage. He had two completions of over 50 yards with a 62-yard touchdown strike to Cooper Sullivan (Jacksonville, FL/The Bolles School) and a 73-yard throw to Jacob Riddle (Westfield, IN/Westfield) that setup the Little Giants' second touchdown of the game. Thompson also ran six times for 23 yards and one touchdown with a long of 22 yards.

Clay Denstorff, Denison
(Perrysburg, OH/Perrysburg)


Denison senior Clay Denstorff recorded a forced fumble to go along with three tackles-for-loss of 19 yards and two sacks for 15 yards during  the Big Red's win at home over Oberlin on Saturday. In the third quarter, Denstorff had a 10-yard sack on third down to make it fourth-and-20 from the Yeomen's 15-yard line, which set the stage for a blocked punt that was recovered in the endzone for a Denison touchdown. Denstorff then added a sack fumble two possessions later to give the Big Red the ball back which resulted in a Denison field goal.

Trey Fabrocini, Denison

Junior Trey Fabrocini became the fourth player in Denison history and the first since 2017 to rush for four touchdowns in a game during the Big Red's 45-42 win at Wabash on Saturday. Fabrocini finished with 32 carries for a career-high 171 yards, topping the 100-yard mark in all four games this season. The junior ranks first in the nation in rushing touchdowns with 11 in addition to leading the NCAC and ranking in the top-15 nationally with 511 rushing yards through four games. It was Denison's first win over Wabash since 2018 and was only their second win ever in Crawfordsville (first since 1969).

Cameron Snurr, Wittenberg

Wittenberg junior Cameron Snurr tallied a team-high six tackles in the Tiger's win over Hiram on Saturday. Of his six tackles, 1.5 were for a loss, and one was a sack. Snurr was also involved in two turnovers as he intercepted a pass and forced and recovered a Terrier fumble.

Malcolm Rogers, Hiram

Hiram senior running back Malcolm Rogers rushed for three touchdowns in a win at Oberlin on Saturday. The senior finished the game with 183 rushing yards on 25 attempts, while also hauling in two passes for 27 yards. Rogers is second among conference athletes this season with 551 yards rushing and seven touchdowns through five games.

DePauw junior linebacker Brevon Gude set a school record with four sacks in Saturday's win at previously undefeated Denison. Gude finished the game with six tackles overall, while the Tiger defense held Denison to a season-low 13 points.

Kaden Buza, Ohio Wesleyan
(Winchester, VA/Millbrook)


Ohio Wesleyan junior Kaden Buza helped propel the Battling Bishops to a conference win against Denison on Saturday. The signal caller completed 17-of-23 passes for 296 yards, to go along with five touchdowns. Buza became only the fourth Ohio Wesleyan quarterback to throw for five touchdowns in a game and the first to do so since 2015.

Darryl Shands, Kenyon
(Bethlehem, PA/Freedom)
 


Kenyon senior linebacker Darryl Shands stood out in the fourth quarter and helped preserve a 28-21 victory over Oberlin on Saturday. With the Owls trailing 21-20, Shands came up with a big quarterback sack that led to an Oberlin punt and gave the Kenyon offense the ball to produce the winning drive. On Oberlin's ensuing possession, in an attempt to re-gain the lead, Shands came up with an interception, giving the Owls the ball back with just 1:26 left on the clock. Overall, Shands recorded five tackles, two sacks and the game-sealing interception.

Wooster senior Mateo Renteria recorded 464 yards of total offense and six touchdowns during the Fighting Scots' 42-41 win over Kenyon on Saturday. Renteria became the third quarterback in program history with two games with at least five passing touchdowns. His 464 yards of total offense are the third-most in single-game program history and he surpassed 9,000 career passing yards in the win.

Wabash fifth-year senior Jose Franco recorded a game-high eight tackles and logged one interception in the Little Giants' victory over Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday. Franco made four solo tackles and helped on four more stops. His interception came on a tipped pass by teammate Will Netting (Jacksonville, FL/The Bolles School) to set up a Little Giants' touchdown in the third quarter.

Kenyon sophomore wide receiver Zachary Kim hauled in three touchdowns during Saturday’s win at Hiram. The wideout ended the day with six catches for 120 yards, to go along with his three scores. Two of his scores came in the second half as the Owls edged the Terriers, 34-31.

Denison junior Jeff Moore led the Big Red's defensive effort during a road win at Wittenberg, ending the game with a career-high 16 total tackles, including nine solo tackles. Moore and the Big Red defense did their job by limiting Wittenberg to a 5-for-14 rate on third down, 0-for-3 on fourth down, and a 2-for-4 conversion rate in the red zone. His 16 tackles were tied for the second-most by a conference athlete this season.

Wooster senior tight end Cole Hissong caught the winning touchdown with 11 seconds remaining in the Fighting Scots' 44-43 win over Wittenberg on Saturday. The win marked Wooster's first over Wittenberg since 2008, with the Scots overcoming a 33-7 deficit in the game. Hissong ended the game with nine catches for 102 yards and a touchdown.

Wabash freshman Gavin Ruppert recorded a game-high 16 tackles including seven solo stops, in the Little Giants' victory over Hiram on Saturday. The first-year also picked up one sack for three yards in the winning effort.

Liam Thompson, Wabash (Indianapolis, IN/North Central)

Wabash junior Liam Thompson threw for a career-high 450 yards in Saturday's victory over Kenyon. The junior quarterback completed 30-of-34 passes in the game, including a perfect 12-for-12 stretch to open the contest. He threw four touchdown passes in the game, giving him 32 on the season which ranks third among all Division III quarterbacks. Thompson also added a rushing touchdown on the opening offensive drive of the game.
Jack Nimesheim, Denison (Northfield, IL/Loyola Academy)


Denison junior Jack Nimesheim led the Big Red defense with seven tackles and an interception as the team won the Battle of the Old Red Lantern at Wooster on Saturday. Nimesheim’s interception came with the Big Red down 14-7 at the 6:17 mark in the second quarter and led to a Denison touchdown to tie the game just before halftime.

Trey Fabrocini, Denison

Denison junior running back Trey Fabrocini became the Big Red’s single-season rushing touchdown record-holder (20 TDs) with a one-yard touchdown run in the first quarter against Kenyon. The junior passed Alex Minton's previous record of 18 rushing touchdowns set in 2019. Fabrocini finished Saturday’s game with 28 rushing attempts for 206 yards and two touchdowns, ending the season with 1,303 yards, which puts him fifth for the most rushing yards in a single season in program history.
Ethan Lowry, DePauw
(Indianapolis, IN/Heritage Christian)


DePauw junior Ethan Lowry recorded seven total tackles, including three tackles for loss totaling 39 yards, and two sacks totaling 10 yards on Saturday in the Tigers’ Monon Bell Classic victory over Wabash. Lowry also forced two fumbles and recorded a pass breakup in the game.
