2022 NCAC Softball Players of the Week

Loren Carter, Oberlin
(Bloomington, IN/Edgewood)


Oberlin freshman Loren Carter had an impressive debut to help the Yeowomen collect two wins over the weekend as she went 7-of-15 (.467) with a three-run homer, three doubles, three runs scored and six RBI. Carter totaled 13 bases and slugged .867, while also delivering the game-winning walk-off hit in the bottom of the seventh of game one against Greenville.




 
Alaina Di Dio, Oberlin
(Whitmore Lake, MI/Whitmore Lake)


Oberlin sophomore Alaina Di Dio made two appearances and one start over the weekend, totaling 10.2 innings while posting a 1-0 record and 1.97 ERA. Di Dio earned a complete-game victory in Oberlin's win over Greenville as she tossed six innings, allowing just three hits while going walk-free and striking out two.  She followed with 4.2 innings of work against Rhodes where she allowed three hits and two runs.

Paige Price, DePauw
(Naperville, IL/Neuqua Valley)


DePauw senior Paige Price compiled a .545 average (6-of-11) in the season-opening week for the Tigers. The senior collected two doubles, scored one run, and batted in three runners. She was also a perfect 25-for-25 in fielding chances from the first base and catcher positions.

 
Cami Henry, DePauw
(Camby, IN/Mooresville)


DePauw senior Cami Henry picked up two pitching victories in a 2-2 opening week for the Tigers. Across four appearances, the senior pitched 14 innings, allowing just 11 hits, six runs, three earned, while walking seven and striking out 20 batters. For the week, Henry recorded a tidy 1.50 ERA.

Grace Smith, DePauw
(Noblesville, IN/Noblesville)


DePauw senior Grace Smith helped the Tigers to three victories at the NFCA Leadoff Classic last week. In 20 at-bats, the senior logged nine hits (.450), including two doubles, while scoring seven runs and knocking in three runners. Smith also was a perfect 2-for-2 in stolen base attempts.

 
Sydney Silverstein, Denison
(Atlanta, GA/Pace Academy)


Denison freshman Sydney Silverstein pitched a complete game shutout against Marietta on Tuesday. The first-year logged six innings, allowing just two hits and no runs, while striking out four batters.

Elise Freeland, Wittenberg
(Marysville, OH/Marysville)


Wittenberg senior Elise Freeland collected a hit in each of the Tigers' six games last week, including multi-hit efforts in three contests. On the week, Freeland went 11-for-21 (.524) from the plate, including two doubles and three triples, drove in four runners and scored 11 times herself.

 



 
Nicole Bishay, Kenyon
(Los Angeles, CA/Rolling Hills Prep)


Kenyon senior Nicole Bishay recorded five wins in 33 innings of work for the Ladies. Bishay went the distance in all five games, giving up just nine runs, six earned (1.27 ERA), while walking four and striking out 12 batters. Her best outing came against New Jersey City where she pitched five scoreless innings, allowed just two hits and struck out two batters.

Molly Likins, Wooster
(St. Clair, MI/St. Clair)


Senior Molly Likins started her season batting .441 (15-of-34) in the team's first 10 games, including two triples, five doubles, eight runs and nine RBI. Likins tallied two or more hits in six contests and produced a double in four consecutive games. Her slugging percentage in the Fighting Scots opening week was .706 and her on-base percentage was .486.

 



 
Samantha Dzierba, Allegheny
(Colden, NY/Orchard Park)


Allegheny freshman Samantha Dzierba logged 19.2 innings in the circle last week for the Gators. Across two starts and three appearances overall, the first-year allowed just 15 hits and two runs, one earned, while walking three and striking out 16 batters. Her best outing came in a complete game shutout of Gustavus-Adolphus, where she pitched seven innings, allowed seven hits, no runs, one walk and struck out six.

Giselle Chavez, Hiram
(Downey, CA/Downey)


Hiram senior Giselle Chavez went 7-for-8 (.875) in a pair of games at Westminster (PA). The senior tallied three extra-base hits including two doubles and a triple, while knocking in five RBI and scoring three times.



 



 
Kattie Chittum, Ohio Wesleyan
(Hebron, OH/Lakewood)


Ohio Wesleyan sophomore Katie Chittum started two games last week for the Battling Bishops. The sophomore pitched in 11 innings, giving up 12 hits and three runs, while walking two and striking out 11 batters. Her best outing came in a 2-1 victory over Marietta where she pitched a complete game, allowing six hits, one run while striking out eight batters in seven innings.

Claire Powell, Denison
(Richmond, VA/Collegiate School)


Denison senior Claire Powell went 13-for-22 (.591) with 12 runs scored, four RBI, three stolen bases and two walks in a 4-2 week for the Big Red. Powell collected at least one hit and one run in all six games and scored two or more runs in five of the six games. During game two of Denison's sweep over Kenyon in its NCAC opener, Powell was 4-for-5 with two runs and a triple.


 
Cami Henry, DePauw
(Camby, IN/Mooresville)


DePauw senior Cami Henry appeared in seven games, logging 40 innings in the circle as the Tigers went 6-1 on the week. In those 40 innings, Henry gave up only 20 hits and five runs, two earned, for a minuscule 0.35 ERA. The senior also struck out 59 batters across her seven appearances.

Clare McMahon, Kenyon
(Bethel Park, PA/Bishop Canevin)


Kenyon senior Clare McMahon helped power the Ladies to a 4-0 week, sweeping doubleheaders against Oberlin and Marietta. On the week, McMahon hit 6-for-11 at the plate for a .545 average, scoring six times and collecting one RBI. She also drew four walks, giving her an on-base percentage of .667.

 



 
Nicole Bishay, Kenyon
(Los Angeles, CA/Rolling Hills Prep)


Kenyon senior Nicole Bishay recorded a 3-0 record with a 2.33 earned run average last week. The senior threw 18 innings, allowing just three walks and nine runs, six earned, while scattering 18 hits and striking out nine. Against Marietta, Bishay pitched a complete-game shutout, allowing just three hits and striking out three batters.

Grace Smith, DePauw
(Noblesville, IN/Noblesville)


DePauw senior Grace Smith was the Tigers' leading hitter across six victories last week. Smith collected nine hits across 18 at-bats for a .500 batting average, including three doubles and two home runs. The senior also scored seven runs and collected five RBI while swiping two stolen bases.


 
Darian Kanno, Hiram
(Mililani, HI/Mid-Pacific Institute)


Hiram freshman Darian Kanno picked up two conference wins against Denison and Wooster last week. The first-year pitched two complete games, while allowing just five earned runs across 14 innings, while striking out 17 batters.

Giselle Bahena, Hiram
(Pomona, CA/Bishop Amat Memorial)


Hiram senior Giselle Bahena hit safely in each of the Terriers six games last week and currently owns a 21-game hitting streak. The senior finished the week going 13-for-17 at the plate (.765), including six extra-base hits while scoring eight runs and collecting seven RBI. Bahena also walked three times and produced an .800 on-base percentage and a 1.118 slugging percentage.



 
Darian Kanno, Hiram
(Mililani, HI/Mid-Pacific Institute)


Hiram freshman Darian Kanno led the Terriers from the mound, recording four conference victories in a 6-0 week for the team. Kanno's week was highlighted by a five-inning no-hitter against Kenyon, where she walked three and struck out eight batters in the win. On the week, the first-year pitched 21 innings, allowing just 10 hits and one run, while walking six and striking out 29 batters.

Claire Powell, Denison
(Richmond, VA/Collegiate School)


Denison senior Claire Powell helped the Big Red to four wins last week, collecting four multi-hit games. In total, Powell compiled 10 hits, including three triples, while scoring six runs, picking up five RBI and going a perfect 3-for-3 in stolen bases. With a pair of conference wins this past weekend, the Big Red secured a spot in the NCAC tournament.

 



 
Cami Henry, DePauw
(Camby, IN/Mooresville)


DePauw senior Cami Henry pitched in all four of the Tiger's wins last week, doubleheader sweeps of Ohio Wesleyan and Kenyon. In game one against the Ladies, the senior logged 5.2 innings of hitless work, only allowing two walks while striking out eight. In total, Henry pitched 15.1 innings, allowed just seven hits and three earned runs, walked five and struck out 15 batters.
