2021 NCAC Women's Tennis Players of the Week

February 22nd 
Paige Bennett, DePauw
(Terre Haute, IN/South Vigo)


DePauw freshman Paige Bennett recorded a pair of victories last week for the Tigers. In Saturday's 7-2 victory over Rose-Hulman, Bennett won at number four singles, 6-0, 6-0, over the Engineers' Ella Dorfmueller. She also teamed up with junior Erin Friedrich to win at number one doubles, 8-2, over Rose-Hulman.

March 22nd 
Sydney Cianciola, Denison

Denison sophomore Sydney Cianciola helped the Big Red to a win over Ohio Wesleyan on Sunday. Cianciola won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1, at number one singles after earning an 8-0 victory in number two doubles with teammate Sarah Robertson.

March 29th
Katie Lee, Ohio Wesleyan
(Chardon, OH/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin)


Ohio Wesleyan sophomore Katie Lee collected four wins in a pair of matches against Wittenberg on Saturday. She won twice at number one singles, 6-4, 6-4, and 6-3, 6-1, while also getting a pair victories at number one doubles, 8-3 and 8-5, with teammate Ruthie Silberman.

April 5th
Alex Cash, Denison

Denison senior Alex Cash helped the Big Red to a pair of wins over Wooster. In match one, Cash won straight sets, 6-2, 6-1 at number one singles after earning an 8-2 victory at number one doubles with teammate Hannah Cianciola. In match two, Cash took straight sets again, 6-0, 6-1, at number one singles, and took the win at number one doubles, 8-0, with Cianciola.

April 12th
Daria Beshentseva, Kenyon
(Moscow, Russia/Lyceum 1535)


Kenyon junior Daria Beshentseva helped notch two match points for the No. 12-ranked Ladies in their 6-3 win over No. 24 Denison. At No. 1 doubles with teammate Erika Oku, the duo secured an 8-2 win over Denison. Then in No. 2 singles, Beshentseva was equally impressive, winning in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0.

April 19th
Erika Oku, Kenyon
(Hinsdale, IL/Hinsdale Central)


Kenyon senior Erika Oku won all six of her matches, helping defeat Denison on Wednesday while also leading the undefeated Ladies two a weekend sweep of Wooster. Against Denison, Oku won straight sets, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 1 singles before teaming up with Daria Beshentseva at No. 1 doubles, to win 8-7 (7-5). In singles play against Wooster, Oku played at No. 1 and twice edged out Fighting Scots' No. 1, Otilia Oita. In doubles play on Saturday, she moved to No. 2 to post an 8-1 win with first-year teammate Eleni Dakos. Then, on Sunday, she moved back up to No. 1 doubles to pair with Beshentseva for another 8-1 win.

April 26th
Alex Cash, Denison
(New Albany, OH/New Albany)


Denison senior Alex Cash helped the No. 24-ranked Big Red close out the regular season on Saturday afternoon with a 7-2 upset victory over No. 5-ranked Carnegie Mellon. At No. 2 singles, Cash defeated Bin Zheng, 7-6 (7-4), 6-4, while also getting an 8-6 decision at No. 1 doubles. The win marks Denison's first over CMU since March 6, 2011 when the Big Red defeated the Tartans, 5-4, to place third overall at the 2011 ITA Indoor Championships.
