Cole Borden, Wabash

Wabash freshman Cole Borden helped the Little Giants to a 6-3 victory over Manchester in the team's season opener Saturday. The rookie paired with sophomore Paul Hargitt at number two doubles scored an 8-6 victory in his first collegiate competition. Borden followed with a decisive 6-1, 6-0 straight sets win at number two singles to help Wabash head coach Daniel Bickett earn his first victory at the helm of the Little Giant program.

Paul Hargitt, Wabash

Wabash Paul Hargitt won his fourth singles flight in three sets in Saturday's contest at Franklin. He rallied after losing the first set 6-2 to pick up a 7-6 victory in the second set, outscoring his opponent 7-4 in the tiebreaker game. Hargitt closed out the match with a 10-5 win in the third-set tiebreaker. Hargitt also combined with Cole Borden at number two doubles to earn an 8-4 victory.

Wabash freshman Liam Grennon scored a pair of victories Saturday to help the Little Giants to a 5-4 victory over Adrian College. The rookie won in straight sets by scores of 7-6, 6-2 at number one singles after earning the only doubles point for the Little Giants with an 8-5 victory in the first flight paired with teammate Cole Borden.

(Canfield, OH/Canfield)


Denison junior Tim Cianciola helped the Big Red to a win over DePauw on Saturday. Cianciola won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, at number one singles after earning an 8-1 victory at number one doubles with teammate Jack Bulger.

Guille Del Rio Gonzalez, Wittenberg
(Lleida, Spain)


Wittenberg freshman Guille Del Rio Gonzalez helped lead the Tigers to a pair of wins over Wabash last week. In match one, he won straight sets, 6-0, 6-1, at number three singles after earning an 8-1 victory at number two doubles. In match two, he claimed straight sets, 6-1, 6-0, at number three singles, while also notching an 8-3 victory in number two doubles.

Tim Cianciola, Denison
(Canfield, OH/Canfield)


Denison junior Tim Cianciola helped the No. 27-ranked Big Red knock off No. 14 Kenyon, 8-1, at the Mitchell Fieldhouse in Granville. In No. 1 doubles, Cianciola teamed up with Jack Bulger to win 8-6, before claiming a 6-1, 6-0, straight-sets victory at No. 1 singles. This marks Denison's first win over Kenyon since April 30, 2006 when the Big Red defeated the Lords, 4-1, to earn their 12th NCAC Championship in the history of the program.

DePauw freshman Gordian Bruns has won 36-straight games and was a quadruple winner across DePauw's consecutive matches against Wittenberg last week. At No. 4 singles, Bruns won 6-0, 6-0, on consecutive days against Wittenberg. Bruns teamed up with Ryan McCook at No. 3 doubles to also earn a pair of victories against the Red and White, 8-1, 8-2.

Luis Andres Platas, Kenyon
(Sunny Isles, FL/Florida Virtual)

Kenyon sophomore Luis Andres Platas helped the Lords to a victory over DePauw last week. In the match, Platas won in both singles and doubles play at the No. 1 flight. In singles, he got by DePauw's Thomas Partridge, 7-6 (7-3), 6-0 and in doubles he paired with teammate Thomas Kallarakal to take an 8-3 win over Partridge and Bryce McClanahan.
