2022 NCAC Men's Soccer Athletes of the Week

Kenyon senior Sebastian Gaese racked up two goals and two assists en route to a 2-0 start for the No. 17 Owls while putting all three of his shots on goal. Gaese tallied five points, netting the team's first two goals of the game and dishing an assist in Kenyon's season-opening win over Ohio Northern. He then added an assist on the game-winning goal in Kenyon's road victory over No. 16-ranked John Carroll.

Anthony Pacewicz, Oberlin
(Perrysburg, OH/St. John's Jesuit)

Oberlin sophomore Anthony Pacewicz played a large role in leading the Yeomen to a 2-1 week as he netted the game-winner in each of the team's victories. In the 82nd minute against Grove City, he found the back of the net to lift the Crimson and Gold to a 3-2 victory, then on Saturday, Pacewicz scored the game-winner in the 50th minute as Oberlin defeated Chatham, 2-1.

Ethan Miracle, Denison
(Edwardsville, IL/Edwardsville)

Denison senior Ethan Miracle scored three goals during a 2-0 week for the Big Red, including both goals during a 2-1 win at home over Marietta on Friday night. Miracle tied the match against the Pioneers with a goal in the 25th minute and then netted the game-winner in the 78th minute, giving him seven goals in six matches so far this season. Earlier in the week at Capital, Miracle tied the match at 1-1 with a goal in the 47th minute before the Big Red went on to win 2-1.

Jesse Martinez, Wabash
(Heartland, TX/Crandall)

Wabash freshman Jesse Martinez scored two goals, including the eventual game winner in a 3-2 victory at Oberlin, during a 2-0 week for the Little Giants. The forward scored in the 50th minute of the match before scoring a second goal off of a clearing attempt by the Yeomen defense in the 66th minute for a 3-1 lead and the eventual victory.

Mason Taylor, Ohio Wesleyan
(Marysville, OH/Marysville)

Ohio Wesleyan junior goalie Mason Taylor recorded six saves in a 1-0  win against Capital. Taylor made three saves in each half, including a stop in the final five seconds of regulation to protect the lead. The junior also stopped one shot in a 1-0 win at Oberlin on Saturday. Taylor's save came with 1:07 left in regulation to secure the victory.

Aidan Burns, Kenyon

Kenyon junior defender Aidan Burns scored the Owls' only goal last week, keeping the No. 3/4-ranked Owls undefeated (10-0-1). After a scoreless draw at Ohio Wesleyan on Tuesday, Burns delivered a second-half goal in a 1-0 victory at Wabash on Saturday.

(Marysville, OH/Marysville)

Ohio Wesleyan junior Mason Taylor (Marysville, OH/Marysville) strung together his fifth and sixth consecutive shutouts this season in games against DePauw and Wooster last week. Taylor faced six shots against the Tigers before facing 11 against the Fighting Scots. On the week, the junior recorded 10 saves across 180:00 minutes in goal for the Battling Bishops.

Wabash freshman Soren Russell recorded a pair of shutouts in two key conference matches for the Little Giants. The first-year held DePauw scoreless in a 1-0 victory on Wednesday, tallying three saves while facing 11 total shot attempts from the Tigers. Russell turned away a penalty kick shot from DePauw in the 16th minute of the match that could have tied the match. Russell added a second shutout on Saturday in a 2-0 victory over Wooster. He faced only one shot on goal, recording another save on a penalty kick in the 76th minute to preserve the clean sheet.

Ethan Miracle, Denison

Denison senior Ethan Miracle totaled seven points (3 goals, 1 assist) during a 2-0 week that saw the Big Red clinch the third seed in the NCAC tournament. In a 3-2 win over DePauw on Tuesday, Miracle scored Denison's first goal to tie the match at 1-1 in the 28th minute. Against Wooster on Saturday, the senior scored the first goal of the game in the 28th minute and then assisted on Denison's second goal less than two minutes later. Miracle then tallied his second goal of the match to make it 3-0 in the 72nd minute.
