Denison captured its 15th North Coast championship with an 11-7 win over Allegheny in the championship game of the NCAC Tournament in Granville on May 6. The Big Red rolled through the NCAC Tournament with back-to-back upsets. Seeded fourth before the event, Denison opened the 2006 tournament with a stunning 10-7 win over top-seeded Wooster in the semifinals. The third-seeded Gators had advanced to the finals with an upset of their own - a 9-7 win over second-seeded Ohio Wesleyan, the defending conference champion. As conference champions, Denison receives an automatic bid into the 24-team NCAA Division III Championships.

Four Denison players were selected to the NCAC all-tournament team: senior Molly Lamdin (Darien, CT/Darien), juniors Carolyn Hicks (Gates Mills, OH/Hawken) and Krissy Frost (Wilton, CT/Wilton) and sophomore Quinn Simmons (Medina, OH/Medina). Runner-up Allegheny also had four players honored: seniors Emily Deering (Hollis, ME/Bonny Eagle) and Ashley Rogerson (Fairport, NY/Fairport) and sophomores Ashley Hughes (Wexford, PA/North Allegheny) and Leslie Stange (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional). Ohio Wesleyan and Wooster each had two players selected to the team. The Battling Bishops were represented by sophomores Maggie Eichenlaub (Crystal, MN/Robbinsdale Cooper) and Julia Fouts (Cleveland Hts., OH/Hathaway Brown), while the Fighting Scots were represented by seniors Nicki Hunt (Greenville, DE/St. Paul's School for Girls) and Megan Sward (Sewickley, PA/Sewickley Academy).
