Overall Record: 0-0 (First Year)
Record at Wittenberg: 0-0 (First Year)
After seven years as an assistant coach with Wittenberg's men's lacrosse program, Daniel Shields moved across the office suite to take the reins of the Tiger women lacrosse program in 2025.
Shields helped Wittenberg men's lacrosse to an overall record of 42-61 as an assistant with the program, including a record of 25-32 in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC). He succeeded Becca Joseph as the Tigers' women's lacrosse head coach.
A native of Perth, Australia, Shields moved to the United States prior to his junior year of high school. A crafty attackman during his playing years, he spent one year at lacrosse junior college powerhouse Onondaga Community College, where he was a part of the Lazers' 2010 national championship team. He then transferred to the University of Mount Olive, where he earned three first-team all-conference selections.
Following his playing career, Shields went back to coach his high school alma mater, Mercer Island, helping the team to a 22-1 record and the 2015 state championship while serving as offensive coordinator. He went on to be an assistant coach, serving as the offensive coordinator and goalie coach, at Tusculum College in Tennessee. His success at Tusculum included increasing offensive productivity by one goal per game and the program's first appearance in its conference playoffs.
Shields resides in Springfield.
