North Coast Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week

Offensive Football Athlete of the Week – Trey Fabrocini, Denison
Denison junior running back Trey Fabrocini (Lancaster, OH/Fisher Catholic) became the Big Red’s single-season rushing touchdown record-holder (20 TDs) with a one-yard touchdown run in the first quarter against Kenyon. The junior passed Alex Minton's previous record of 18 rushing touchdowns set in 2019. Fabrocini finished Saturday’s game with 28 rushing attempts for 206 yards and two touchdowns, ending the season with 1,303 yards, which puts him fifth for the most rushing yards in a single season in program history.

Defensive Football Athlete of the Week – Ethan Lowry, DePauw
DePauw junior Ethan Lowry (Indianapolis, IN/Heritage Christian) recorded seven total tackles, including three tackles for loss totaling 39 yards, and two sacks totaling 10 yards on Saturday in the Tigers’ Monon Bell Classic victory over Wabash. Lowry also forced two fumbles and recorded a pass breakup in the game.

Men’s Basketball of the Week – Edreece Redmond, Wabash
Wabash junior Edreece Redmond (Indianapolis, IN/Bishop Chatard) averaged 16.5 points and finished with five assists, three blocked shots, and five steals while committing only one turnover in a pair of Little Giant victories to open the basketball season. Redmond scored a career-high 19 points and matched his career-high with six rebounds in Wabash’s 81-78 victory over Mount St. Joseph in the season opener on Tuesday. He also blocked two shots, handed out three assists, and finished with three steals against the Lions. On Friday, Redmond scored 14 points in Wabash’s 70-67 victory over 16th-ranked Washington University in St. Louis. The junior guard shot 5-of-7 from the field and hit all three of his three-point attempts, while giving out two assists, blocking one shot, and recording two steals. Redmond also hit the go-ahead bucket with just 24 seconds remaining in play.
 
Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week – Alyson Jefferson, Oberlin
Oberlin junior Alyson Jefferson (Washington, DC/Benjamin Banneker) led the Yeowomen to a pair of wins to open the 2022-23 season. The junior guard dropped in 17 points to go along with five assists and three boards in a win at Alma, before following that performance with a career-high 21 points, five rebounds and three assists in a triumph at Adrian. For the week, Jefferson was 10-of-18 from the floor and was a perfect 17-of-17 at the free throw line, averaging 19 points, four rebounds, and four assists.
 
Men’s Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week – Owen Kennedy, Ohio Wesleyan
Ohio Wesleyan senior Owen Kennedy (Columbus, OH/Bishop Hartley) won a pair of individual events and helped the Battling Bishops to a relay victory in a dual meet win against Wittenberg on Saturday. Kennedy won the 50-yard freestyle in 23.50 seconds and the 200 backstroke in 2:05.11. He also helped OWU’s 200 medley relay team win its event in 1:44.65.

Women’s Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week – Hallie Findlan, Wooster
Wooster sophomore Hallie Findlan (Jefferson Hills, PA/Thomas Jefferson) was a quadruple winner in the Fighting Scots' team victory over Westminster on Saturday. The sprint specialist led off the Scots’ 200-yard medley relay (1:53.83), which won by nearly eight seconds. She also cruised to a near-two-second win in the 50 freestyle (24.61), while compiling a near-four-second win in the 100 freestyle (53.91), and anchored the 200 freestyle relay team (1:43.63), which won by over five seconds. Wooster has now won 17 straight dual meets.


 
NCAC Milestones & Records (Nov. 7 – Nov. 13)

Denison, Women’s Basketball – With a victory against Heidelberg on Tuesday, Maureen Hirt recorded her first career victory as the women’s basketball head coach.

DePauw, Football - DePauw claimed the Monon Bell with a 49-14 win over Wabash. The 49 points were the most by DePauw against Wabash in the 128 meetings and third-most by either school in the rivalry.
 
DePauw, Men’s Basketball - With Tuesday's men's basketball win, Rusty Loyd picked up his first win as DePauw's head coach.

Kenyon, Women’s Basketball – With a win on Tuesday against Defiance, Kenyon head coach Mary Corbett recorded her first victory.
 
Oberlin, Men’s Basketball – Oberlin’s Shiva Senthil recorded his first win as the team’s head coach on Saturday against Allegheny.

Ohio Wesleyan, Football – In Saturday’s win against Hiram, junior quarterback Kaden Buza (Winchester, VA/Millbrook) set the single season passing touchdown record. Buza finished the season with 23 touchdown throws, breaking the previous record of 22 set in 2017.

Wittenberg, Women’s Basketball - Wittenberg head coach Melissa Kolbe picked up her first set of wins this past week as the Tiger’s first-year mentor.

Wooster, Football - Wooster senior Mateo Renteria (Houston, TX/Cypress Creek) threw for 292 yards and four touchdowns in Saturday’s win against Oberlin, surpassing 10,000 career passing yards and becoming the first player in program history to eclipse 2,000 yards in each season.
