Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week – Vinny Buccilla, Wabash

Wabash sophomore guard Vinny Buccilla (Fishers, IN/Hamilton Southeastern) averaged 17.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists in a pair of conference victories last week. Buccilla led the Little Giants with 22 points, shooting 54 percent (7-of-13) from the floor, to go along with five rebounds, two assists and one steal in an 86-82 overtime victory at Oberlin on Saturday. The sophomore forced the overtime period with a three-point basket just past the midcourt line in the final second of regulation. Earlier in the week on Wednesday, Buccilla scored a team-high 13 points and grabbed a career-best 12 rebounds in a 72-62 win over Wittenberg. The sophomore went 6-of-12 (.500) from the field against the Tigers and gave out two assists.
 
Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week – Moira McGinley, DePauw
DePauw sophomore guard Moira McGinley (Indianapolis, IN/Bishop Chatard) averaged 13.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in a pair of NCAC wins this past week. McGinley netted 11 points, grabbed four rebounds, and dished three assists in a win at home against Oberlin on Wednesday. Then on Saturday in a 73-63 road-win over Ohio Wesleyan, the sophomore posted a team-high 16 points, to go along with five rebounds and two assists while shooting 56 percent (5-of-9) from the field.
 
Men’s Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week – Caleb McCarty, Wabash
Wabash senior Caleb McCarty (Decatur, IN/Bellmont) posted two individual victories against NCAA Division I opponents Valparaiso University and Eastern Illinois University Friday evening in dual-meet competition. The senior won the 50 free (21.35) and also turned in a season-best time to win the 100 free (46.71).
 
Women’s Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week – Ella Campbell, Kenyon
Kenyon senior Ella Campbell (Boone, NC/Watauga) claimed two wins in the Owls’ victory over Case Western Reserve on Saturday. Campbell finished first in the 50 free with a time of 23.58 seconds, which notched a new personal best, cleared an NCAA 'B' cut, and set a pool record in the process. The senior also anchored the Owls' winning 200-yard medley relay team (1:44.89)  that cleared an NCAA 'B' cut time.
 
Men’s Indoor Track Sprint/Hurdles Athlete of the Week – Malik Holley, Denison
Denison sophomore Malik Holley (Washington D.C./Woodberry Forest School) ran the first leg of the winning 4x200 relay (1:32.94) and took runner-up honors in the 400-meter dash (52.34), as the Big Red won the Fighting Scots Invitational. Denison's time in the 4x200 is the fastest in the NCAC so far this season and ranks eighth on Denison's top-10 list for indoor track & field.
 
Men’s Indoor Track Distance/Mid-Distance Athlete of the Week – Haiden Diemer-McKinney, Wabash
Wabash freshman Haiden Diemer-McKinney (Brownsburg, IN/Brownsburg) posted the sixth-fastest time in Division III this season with his winning effort in the 800-meter run at the Friday Night Spikes meet at Rose-Hulman. Diemer-McKinney ran the 800 in 1:53.45 for the fourth-fastest time in Wabash school history. The rookie also anchored the Little Giants' winning 4x400 relay that turned in a time of 3:26.19 for the second-fastest time among NCAC schools this season and 33-quickest in Division III.
 
Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week – Zack Lee, Oberlin
Oberlin senior Zack Lee (New York, NY/Bard) moved into first in the conference and 20th in the nation in the long jump with a winning clearance of 6.91 meters at the Fighting Scots Invitational. The career-best mark for Lee was good enough to best 17 other competitors in the event.
 
Women’s Indoor Track Sprint/Hurdles Athlete of the Week – Liberty Brock, Ohio Wesleyan
Ohio Wesleyan junior Liberty Brock (Zanesville, OH/New Concord John Glenn) collected one individual victory and was a part of two relay wins at the Muskingum Invitational on Saturday. Brock won the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:02.34 and helped the 4x200 relay team win in a time of 1:49.37. She also led off the 4x400 relay squad that placed first (4:33.29). All three wins helped OWU take the team title by margin of 118-116.
 
Women’s Indoor Track Distance/Mid-Distance Athlete of the Week – Anna Lindower, Denison
Denison senior Anna Lindower (Iowa City, IA/Iowa City) took home the win in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:49.93 at the Fighting Scots Invitational. Lindower’s time currently sits as the third-fastest in the NCAC so far this season.
 
Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week – Iyanna Lewis, Oberlin
Oberlin senior Iyanna Lewis (Washington, D.C./Sidwell Friends School) bested a field of 24 competitors with a toss of 17.24 meters in the weight throw at the Fighting Scots Invitational. The senior’s heave was over seven feet farther than the second-place finisher and marked the fourth time this season she has thrown over 17 meters.
 
NCAC Milestones & Records (Jan. 16 – Jan. 22)
Denison, Indoor Track & Field - Sophomore Chris Slater (Hudson, OH/Hudson) earned the win in the weight throw at the Fighting Scots Invitational with a heave of 16.89 meters. Slater's mark set a new indoor school record in the event, beating out the previous record of 16.56 meters set by Bryce Stricker on Feb. 15, 2020.
 
Kenyon, Swimming and Diving - On Saturday against Case Western Reserve, senior Ella Campbell (Boone, NC/Watauga) won the 50 free and cleared an NCAA 'B' cut after swimming the sprint in 23.58 seconds. The time was a personal best for the senior and was one of three pool records broken by the Owls at Case Western’s Veale Natatorium.
 
Wooster, Indoor Track & Field - At the Fighting Scots Invitational, junior Dylan Garretson (Newcomerstown, OH/Newcomerstown) upped his indoor pole vault school record to 4.80 meters, while junior Ainsley Wiesner (Lake Forest, IL/Lake Forest) upped her school record in the weight throw to 14.94 meters.
 
Wooster Swimming and Diving - The women’s team won their 20th-consecutive dual meet with a victory over Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday.
