CLEVELAND, OH – Denison (5-1-1, 16 pts) claimed its league-leading 12th North Coast Athletic Conference women’s soccer crown after finishing the season with 16 points in league play. The Big Red bring home the championship trophy for the first time since 2021.
Ohio Wesleyan follows Denison with 10 championships, while Allegheny has nine titles all-time, Wooster has five, Kenyon has four and DePauw has two.
DePauw (4-1-2, 14 pts) finished second in conference standings this fall, followed by Wooster (4-2-1, 13 pts), Wittenberg (3-2-2, 11 pts), Oberlin (3-3-1, 10 pts), Ohio Wesleyan (2-2-3, 9 pts), Hiram (1-6-0, 3 pts), and Kenyon (0-5-2, 2 pts).
Denison will host fourth-seeded Wittenberg on Wednesday, November 6, while second-seeded DePauw will entertain third-seeded Wooster; Both games will be at 7:00 p.m. The Big Red defeated the Ohio Tigers 2-1 in their NCAC opener on Oct. 5, while the Fighting Scots collected a 1-0 victory over the Indiana Tigers to close out the regular season on Nov. 2.
The championship match is set for Saturday, November 9, at the site of the highest remaining seed to emerge from the semifinal round.
TOURNEY NOTES: The tournament winner receives the NCAC’s automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament … Denison returns to the tournament field for the 21st time in the past 22 seasons and is hoping to three-peat as the NCAC tourney champion … DePauw will make its eighth NCAC tournament appearance in program history, as the Tigers are looking for their third tournament title … Wooster enters its 12th NCAC postseason and will look for its third tournament title after back-to-back crowns in 2018-19 … Wittenberg returns to the tournament for the 18th time and will be seeking its seventh tournament title ... Last season after a pair of upsets in the NCAC semifinal round, fourth-seeded Denison defeated third-seeded DePauw, 2-0, for the 2023 tourney title. The Big Red advanced to the final with a 1-0 win over top-seeded Wittenberg, while DePauw collected a 1-0 victory over second-seeded OWU … Ohio Wesleyan and Wittenberg lead all programs with six tournament titles apiece, followed by Denison with five crowns, DePauw and Wooster with two each, and Kenyon and Allegheny with one tourney title apiece.
