Five Earn United Soccer Coaches All-America Honors

KANSAS CITY, MO - Five North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) men's soccer players, including Kenyon senior Matt Nguyen (Dudley, MA/Shepherd Hill Regional), Ohio Wesleyan senior Brady West (Dublin, OH/Columbus St. Charles), and Denison senior duo Tommy Prokos (Park Ridge, IL/Maine South) and Jake Krueger (Wilmette, IL/New Trier Township), along with junior Henri Heyes (New Albany, OH/New Albany), earned All-America nods by the United Soccer Coaches, announced December 5th.

Highlighting the leauge as second-team selections are Krueger and Nguyen while Prokos and West earned third-team nods and Heyes was tabbed as a fourth-team honoree.

In 23 games, Krueger has posted a league-high 38 shots on goal, 35 points, 14 goals and seven game-winners, to go along with seven assists in 2024. Krueger's seven game-winning goals ranked as second most among all NCAA Division III players. His total goals and total points both ranked among the top 35 in NCAA Division III. Krueger was previously honored as 2024 NCAC Offensive Player of the Year and All-NCAC First-Team. 

Nguyen started all 21 games for the Owls and headed up a defensive unit that allowed averages of just 9.0 shots and 1.05 goals per game. When moving forward to help offensively, he contributed a goal and two assists. This season, Nguyen was also a first-team All-NCAC selection.

Prokos ranked among the best nationally in each of the major categories for Division III goalkeepers. He led the NCAC and ranked seventh in NCAA D-III in goals against average .494. Additionally, his .848 save percentage ranks him 20th in Division III. Prokos recorded 11 shutouts, which are the fifth most in NCAA Division III this season. The senior earned All-NCAC First-Team nods for his efforts.

West is one of 12 student-athletes that earned the second All-America honor of their careers. The 2024 NCAC Defensive Player of the Year was a starter on an Ohio Wesleyan defense that ranked second in the NCAC in fewest goals allowed (19) and scoring margin (+1.50 goals/game). On the offensive end, West contributed a goal and was tied for 22nd in the NCAC in assists (3).

Heyes put together a strong season leading the Denison back line after starting all 23 games for the Big Red. Heyes tallied four goals and two assists during the season in addition to his defensive efforts. Defensively, Denison held NCAC opponents to a league-low one goal for a 0.13 goals-against average to go along with an NCAC-best seven shutouts. Overall, the Big Red have shut out 14 opponents and allowed just 12 goals (0.51 GAA) in 23 games.
