DePauw Earns NCAC Softball Title, Enters Tournament as Top Seed

CLEVELAND, OH – The 2024 North Coast Athletic Conference Softball Tournament is set for Thursday – Sunday, May 9-12, at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. The Tigers earned the right to host the four-team event after winning their league-leading ninth NCAC championship with a 12-2 conference record.

Denison has posted eight NCAC Championships while Allegheny captured five titles; Ohio Wesleyan and Wittenberg have each claimed the conference crown three times.

As the conference champion, DePauw enters the tourney as the top seed. The Indiana Tigers meet fourth-seeded Wittenberg (7-7) in the first round of the double-elimination tournament on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. The Ohio Tigers claimed the tiebreaker over Wooster (7-7) for the final berth in the field. Second-seeded Denison opens tournament play on Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. with a showdown against third-seeded Hiram (10-4).

The double-elimination tournament continues Thursday afternoon with the winners of the day's first two games squaring off for a slot in the championship round at 3:00 p.m., while the losers of the opening-round games will meet at 5:30 p.m. in an elimination game. The winner of Thursday's elimination game will move on to face the loser of Thursday's 3:00 p.m. game on Friday morning at 11:00 a.m. to determine the final slot in the championship round.
 
The first championship game will be played Friday at 1:30 p.m. with game seven set for Saturday or Sunday, if necessary. Should any team involved in the championship game have a graduation set for Saturday, the game will be moved to Sunday.
 
Since the inception of the NCAC Softball Tournament in the 2001 season, Denison and DePauw have each earned six tournament titles. Allegheny and Hiram have each collected four tournament titles, while Wittenberg has two.
