Ohio Wesleyan Tops 2024 Field Hockey Preseason Poll 8/8/2024 12:00:00 PM Share: CLEVELAND, OH – Ohio Wesleyan has been selected as the preseason favorite in the 2024 NCAC Field Hockey Poll based on balloting of the league coaches. The Battling Bishops picked up six of the possible 11 first-place votes and 114 total points. Denison took second in the voting with four first-place votes and 113 points, while DePauw took third after garnering the final first-place vote and 99 points overall. Kenyon claimed fourth with 87 points, followed by Wittenberg (70), Wooster (66), Washington & Jefferson (54), Allegheny (49), Oberlin (30), Earlham (23), and Transylvania (21). Ohio Wesleyan finished the 2023 regular season with an unblemished 10-0 record and the 10th conference title in program history. Head coach Brenda Semit returns five All-NCAC selections from last season, including the 2023 NCAC Midfielder of the Year, Olivia Danley (Del Rio, TX/Independence (VA)) and the 2023 NCAC Newcomer of the Year, Grace Ammon (Southborough, MA/Algonquin Regional). During Danley's sophomore campaign, she ranked second league and led the Bishops in goals (14), assists (7), and points (59). Ammon, in her collegiate debut season, led the conference with nine assists while also tallying 15 points, and three goals. Alyssa Markell (Leesburg, VA/Loudoun County), along with Danely and Ammon, earned first-team all-conference honors as she led the Bishop defense that allowed only five goals and compiled a string of 14 consecutive shutouts during the 2023 season. Also returning for the Bishops are third-team All-NCAC selections Ellie Conroy (Worthington, OH/Thomas Worthington) and Emma Wright (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee).
