Ohio Wesleyan senior guard
Kasey Schipfer (Mechanicsburg, OH/Mechanicsburg) was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week, announced Tuesday, January 14th.
Schipfer turned in a career performance to lead the Battling Bishops to a 77-59 victory over Wittenberg in a battle of NCAC unbeatens on Saturday. The guard scored a career-high 34 points, tying for ninth on Ohio Wesleyan's single-game scoring list, while also grabbing seven rebounds, recording three assists, and tallying four steals. In the first half, Schipfer helped spark the Battling Bishops, scoring 21 points, including eight during a crucial 15-0 run that broke a 6-6 tie to put the Bishops ahead for good. Schipfer converted 14-of-20 field goals (70.0 percent) and finished 5-for-6 from the free-throw line (83.3 percent).
This is the 28th season that D3hoops.com has selected the Team of the Week, which honors the top player nationally at each position from the previous week. This marks the first week that the NCAC has received selections.
