Oberlin's Pollock-Ballard Named to the Inaugural Allstate NACDA Good Works Team

Northbrook, IL – Oberlin College women's basketball junior forward Ellie Pollock-Ballard (Grove City, OH/Grove City) has been named to the inaugural Allstate NACDA Good Works Team, a announced by Allstate and the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).
 
Pollock-Ballard is a driving force in community initiatives in Ohio. She volunteers at the Ronald McDonald House, preparing rooms and assisting families and supports the Mid-Ohio Food Bank and Pantry and Oberlin Community Services by sorting and distributing food. She also hosts free basketball clinics for girls and raises funds for cancer research through Pelotonia.

"I am very grateful to have been selected to the NACDA Allstate Good Works Team," said Pollock-Ballard. "It is really an honor to be recognized among the other athletes on this team who are doing such incredible volunteer work and advocacy in their communities. Giving back to my community and serving others is one of my greatest passions in life. I am very fortunate for the opportunities I have had to work with such amazing organizations like the Ronald McDonald House Charities, Mid-Ohio Food Bank, and Oberlin Community Services. The experiences I have had volunteering for these organizations have shaped me into the person I am today and have further inspired me to make a difference in the world. I want to thank my family, friends, teammates, Coach Dunmyer, and the many others in my life who have provided me unwavering support as I pursue this passion of mine."
 
A recipient of several athletics and academic honors, she's been named to the 2023 Jim Meagle All-Tournament Team, 2024 Academic All-District (College Sports Communicators) and the 2023-24 NCAC Academic Honor Roll.
 
"We couldn't be prouder of Ellie for being named to the Allstate NACDA Good Works Team," said Head Coach Stephany Dunmyer. "Ellie is dedicated to serving others and making a positive impact in the community, and her leadership and selflessness off the court are truly inspiring. Those leadership qualities and selflessness are also evident every day on the court, in the ways she impacts and serves her teammates. This recognition is a testament to the incredible person she is."
 
A senior on the Auburn University gymnastics team, Sophia Groth was named the Captain of the Allstate NACDA Good Works Team. Groth is the President of Auburn's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and spear-headed 'The Big House Toy Drive', a major toy drive that supplies presents to the east Alabama community.
 
The final team was voted on by the program's esteemed Selection Committee from an impressive pool of nearly 200 nominees nationwide. These student-athletes represent nine winter sports and five collegiate divisions, demonstrating the far-reaching impact of student- athletes in their communities.
