North Coast Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week | April 15, 2025
 
Baseball Player of the Week – Camden Scheidt, Wabash
Wabash senior Camden Scheidt (Highland, IN/ Highland) helped lead the Little Giants to a 7-0 week, including conference twin bill wins over Oberlin (7-4, 7-6) and Ohio Wesleyan (14-3, 15-5). On the week, Scheidt hit .469 and produced 12 RBI and nine runs. The senior drew four walks and tallied 15 hits, five of which were for extra bases with three doubles and two home runs, one of which was a grand slam, for a .750 slugging percentage. In the fifth inning of game two against OWU, he received an intentional walk to become the all-time leader in Wabash baseball history with 104 career walks. 

Baseball Pitcher of the Week – Jack Spring, Wooster
Wooster junior Jack Spring (Pflugerville, TX/Brentwood Christian) worked four innings of relief in a 7-6 win at DePauw on Monday and then threw the complete-game in a 2-0 win over Wittenberg on Saturday. Spring threw 13 shutout innings on the week during which he struck out 15 and allowed just seven hits. In four innings of work against the Indiana Tigers, the junior scattered two hits and struck out eight. The right-hander then fired a nine-inning, five-hit shutout against the Ohio Tigers, as he set down 15 straight Tigers starting with the second out of the first inning.
 
Men's Golf Athlete of the Week – Rafael Frias IV, Kenyon
Kenyon sophomore Rafael Frias IV (Parkland, FL/American Heritage School) led the Owls at the Capitol City Classic, finishing tied for eighth with a score of 141 (-3). Frias recorded the second-best score of the tournament in round one after carding a three-under 69 with five birdies, including one on each par-5 hole. He then shot a steady round of 72 on the second day, making two birdies and two bogeys to hold his position in the top 10. For the tournament, Frias finished tied for first in par-5 scoring (4.25).
 
Women's Golf Athlete of the Week – Becky Williams, DePauw
DePauw junior Becky Williams (Zionsville, IN/University High School of Indiana) earned medalist honors at the Lady Jaguar Invitational, finishing atop a 49-player field that included all Division I competitors except for DePauw. Williams, who is currently ranked as the No. 1 player in Division III, posted an even-par 144 (68-76) across two rounds, leading the field with six birdies and tying for the lead with one eagle.
 
Men's Lacrosse Athlete of the Week - Quinn Fitzgerald, Wabash
Wabash senior attack Quinn Fitzgerald (Indianapolis, IN/Brebeuf Jesuit) recorded eight points in a 1-1 week for the Little Giants. In a 10-6 victory over Wittenberg, the team's first win over the Tigers in program history, Fitzgerald tallied two goals, two assists and two ground balls. In a tough 13-8 loss to Oberlin, the senior scored three goals, dished one assist and scooped up two ground balls.
 
Women's Lacrosse Athlete of the Week - Kaitlyn McBride, Wooster
Wooster senior Kaitlyn McBride (Westerville, OH/Westerville South) produced eight points in a 2-0 week for the Fighting Scots. McBride was a leading goal scorer in both victories, as Wooster recorded a 17-7 win against Ohio Wesleyan and a 12-11 overtime win over DePauw. In the ten-goal win over the Battling Bishops, the senior netted three goals, dished one assist, caused two turnovers and scooped up one ground ball. In the one-goal overtime victory against the Tigers, McBride netted four goals and caused two turnovers.
 
Softball Player of the Week - Riley Heim, DePauw
DePauw senior shortstop Riley Heim (Indianapolis, IN/Cardinal Ritter) helped lead the Tigers to six conference wins on the week, hitting safely in all games, which included five multi-hit performances. She went 12-for-20 to produce a .600 batting average and belted three doubles for a .750 slugging percentage. Heim tallied 11 scored runs, eight RBI, four stolen bases, two sacrifice hits and one sacrifice fly on the week. In the field across six games, the shortstop recorded 11 assists and nine putouts without committing an error.
 
Softball Pitcher of the Week - Sydney Silverstein, Denison
Denison senior Sydney Silverstein (Atlanta, GA/Pace Academy) collected three conference victories on the week with wins over Wittenberg (2-0), Hiram (2-0) and Kenyon (12-3). Over 20 innings, she allowed just seven hits and two earned runs, while striking out 13 batters. She threw 14 innings of shutout ball, earning a no-hit win against the Tigers on Wednesday and a two-hit victory over the Terriers on Friday.
 
Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week – Jacob Patterson, Denison
Denison junior Jacob Patterson (Bridgeville, PA/South Fayette) helped guide the Big Red to a 4-0 week with wins over No. 6 Case Western Reserve (4-2), Ohio Wesleyan (7-0), Wittenberg (7-0), and No. 26 Carnegie Mellon (6-1). On the week, Patterson went 6-0 across both singles and doubles play. His singles victories included a 7-5, 7-6 (7-4) win at No. 2 over the Spartans, 6-0, 6-1 wins at No. 1 over both the Battling Bishops and the Tigers, and a 1-6, 6-4 (6-3) victory at No. 2 over the Tartans. In doubles action, Patterson teamed up with senior Colin Gramley (Sharon, PA/Shady Side Academy) to notch a 6-3 win at No. 2 over Case and a 6-1 victory at No. 1 over Carnegie Mellon. Additionally, the junior picked up his 20th win of the season in singles action and is now tied for second in all-time wins in program history with 67.
 
Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week – Hana Nouaime, Kenyon
Kenyon first-year Hana Nouaime (Eagleville, PA/Methacton) had a stellar week, going a perfect 7-0 across both singles and while paired with junior Eleni Lazaridou (Greece, Veroia/4th Lyceum of Veria) in doubles as the Owls defeated four NCAC opponents. The rookie began her impressive run with two wins in Kenyon's crucial matchup at No. 29-ranked Denison. In the Owl's 6-1 win over the Big Red, the tandem collected a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles and then Nouaime claimed a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 5 singles. In a pair of 7-0 victories over Wittenberg and Ohio Wesleyan, the Eagleville, Pennsylvania native went 2-0 at No. 3 singles, earning 6-0, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-2 wins, respectively, while also securing a 6-0 win at No. 1 doubles against OWU. Additionally, in a 7-0 win over Oberlin, Nouaime won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 singles and earned another 6-0 victory at No. 1 doubles.
 
Men's Outdoor Sprints/Hurdles Athlete of the Week – Jack Kittle, Wittenberg
Wittenberg first-year Jack Kittle (Chagrin Falls, OH/Chagrin Falls) set a new program record in the 400-meter dash at the Greenville Select meet, winning the event in 47.25 seconds, a time that leads the NCAC and is currently ranked eighth in Division III. The rookie also ran a leg of two relays, earning third in the 4x100 with a time of 41.79, and claiming first in the 4x400 with a time of 3:16.14, which leads the NCAC and ranks 18th nationally.
 
Men's Outdoor Distance/Mid-Distance Athlete of the Week – Walter Moak, Oberlin
Oberlin senior Walter Moak (Charlottesville, VA/Western Albemarle) had a record-breaking performance at the All-Ohio Championships, claiming the 1,500-meter run title with a time of 3:54.32 to set a new program record. With that mark, the senior owns the fastest time in the NCAC this season and ranks 25th nationally. Moak also earned a second-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:56.03 to earn his second All-Ohio honor and rank third in the conference this season.
 
Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week – Gavin Dunn, Hiram
Hiram first-year Gavin Dunn (Apopka, FL/West Oaks Academy) excelled at the John Homon Open, winning the long jump with a mark of 7.08 meters. The rookie finished more than two feet ahead of the next closest competitor and his mark currently leads the NCAC and is tied for 22nd nationally.
 
Women's Outdoor Sprints/Hurdles Athlete of the Week – Katherine Dortmund, Ohio Wesleyan
Ohio Wesleyan first-year Katherine Dortmund (Westerville, OH/Columbus St. Francis DeSales) delivered a standout performance at the All-Ohio Championship, winning three titles and contributing to a pair of record-breaking performances. The rookie claimed All-Ohio titles in both the 100-meter dash and 100-meter hurdles, posting times of 12.13 and 14.19, respectively. Her mark in the 100-meter dash set a new program record (2015), leads the NCAC and ranks 10th in Division III this season, while her 100-meter hurdles mark also tops the conference and ranks seventh nationally. Dortmund also helped lead the 4x100-meter relay team to victory in a time of 47.86 to break the All-Ohio meet record (2013) and added a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash (25.50) to total four All-Ohio citations. Dortmund's time in the 200 ranks third in the league, while the 4x100 relay ranks among the top 20 in Division III.
 
Women's Outdoor Distance/Mid-Distance Athlete of the Week – Maddi Clark, Wittenberg
Wittenberg sophomore Maddi Clark (Mentor, OH/Mentor) delivered a strong showing at Mount Union's John Homon Open, winning the 5,000-meter run with a personal-best time of 17:57.76. Her performance ranks third in the NCAC this season.
 
Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week – Paula Soric, Kenyon
Kenyon senior Paula Soric (Zadar, Croatia/Gimnazija Franje Petrica Zadar) led the Owls at the All-Ohio Championships with a standout performance in the jumps. Soric swept the horizontal jumps, claiming individual titles in both the long jump and triple jump. She won the long jump with a mark of 5.33 meters and followed with a winning leap of 11.82 meters in the triple jump. Both marks were collegiate bests, and her triple jump distance set a new Kenyon program record, surpassing her previous best of 11.77 meters from 2022.
 
NCAC Milestones & Records (April 7-13)
 
Denison, Men's Lacrosse – Senior attackman Tommy Quinson (Rye Brook, NY/Brunswick School) surpassed two career milestones last week, eclipsing 200 career points in a win over DePauw (18-3) and reaching 150 career goals in a victory against Elmhurst (17-12). Across the two games, the senior totaled eight goals, five assists, five ground balls, and one caused turnover.
 
Denison, Women's Tennis – Head Coach Jamie Scott earned her 100th career win in Denison's victory over Capital (7-0) on Sunday.
 
Denison, Men's Outdoor Track & Field – Senior Malik Holley (Washington, DC/Woodberry Forest School) set a personal record in the 200-meter dash at the All-Ohio Championships with a time of 21.96 seconds. With that time, the senior earned third place and now ranks fourth in league standings. Holley also helped the 4x400 relay team to a third-place finish with a time of 3:21.72, marking the ninth-fastest time in school history … Senior Tyler Miller (Hudson, OH/Hudson) set a personal best in the long jump with a leap of 6.97 meters at the All-Ohio Championships, which ranks sixth in Big Red history and sits second in the NCAC this season.
 
Denison, Women's Outdoor Track & Field – Junior Emi Brennan (Stittsville, Ontario/Sacred Heart) won the 400-meter hurdles at the All-Ohio Championships with a career-best time of 1:03.08. Her performance ranks second in Denison program history, and is third in the NCAC and 16th in Division III so far this season.
 
DePauw, Men’s Outdoor Track & Field – Sophomore Casey Rustman (Mooresville, IN/Mooresville) set a new program record in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.63 seconds, breaking the previous mark of 14.97 set by Sean Odle in 2001 … The 4x100-meter relay team of senior Ayo Laleye (Plainfield, IN/Avon), senior Colin O'Malley (Round Lake, IL/Grayslake Central), first-year Nick Bauman (Noblesville, IN/Guerin Catholic), and first-year Lane Zander (Lake Village, IN/Kankakee Valley) set a new program record with a time of 41.61 seconds, surpassing the previous record of 41.67 set in 2002.
 
DePauw, Women’s Outdoor Track & Field – Junior Tessa Kochert (Glen Ellyn, IL/Glenbard West) set a new program record in the triple jump with a mark of 11.46 meters at the Indiana DIII Championships. Her performance surpassed the previous record of 11.40 meters set by Shaneka Terrell in 2003 … Sophomore Liberty Scott (Galveston, IN/Lewis Cass) earned Track Athlete of the Meet honors at the Indiana DIII Championships after winning both the 100-meter hurdles (14.74) and the 400-meter hurdles (1:02.01). She was also part of the winning 4x100-meter relay squad, which finished in 48.68 to break the previous record set in 2005 … Junior Lucy Stokes (St. Louis, MO/Whitfield School) set a new program record in the hammer throw with a mark of 44.60 meters, surpassing the previous record of 42.70 meters set by Adrienne Cobb in 2009 … DePauw won the Indiana Division III Invitational with 215 points.
 
Hiram, Softball – Senior Darian Kanno (Mililani, HI/Mid-Pacific Institute) became the winningest pitcher in Hiram history with her 11th victory of the season on Friday at Denison (6-1). Kanno now holds the program record for career wins with 45, surpassing the previous mark of 44 set by Hiram Hall of Famer Whitney Dropsey.
 
Hiram, Women's Outdoor Track & Field – Sophomore Sam Volpe (Concord, OH/Riverside) set a new program record in the discus with a throw of 39.78 meters at the John Homon Open. With that toss, the sophomore topped her previous program record of 38.58 meters and currently ranks second in the conference.
 
Kenyon, Men's Lacrosse – Junior attackman David Chintala (New Albany, OH/St. Francis De Sales) became Kenyon's all-time leader in career goals with 141, surpassing the previous program record of 140 set by Evan Bliss (1997–2000). Chintala scored three goals, including the game-winner, in an 8-7 victory over Oberlin to break the record.
 
Kenyon, Men's Outdoor Track & Field – Junior Owen Rodstrom (Cleveland, OH/St. Ignatius) posted a career-best time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the All-Ohio Championships, finishing third with a time of 9:40.36.
 
Kenyon, Women's Outdoor Track & Field – Sophomore Olivia Ide (Chicago, IL/Lane Technical) won the 10,000-meter run at the All-Ohio Championships with a career-best time of 38:00.14.
 
Oberlin, Baseball – Sophomore Kyle Baxt (Wellington, FL/Palm Beach Day) recorded his 100th career hit in Oberlin's 15-3 win over Wilmington, becoming just the 33rd player in program history to reach the milestone.
 
Oberlin, Men's Lacrosse – Sophomore face-off specialist Evan Sardina (Charlestown, MA/Boston Latin School) went 21-for-24 at the x and recorded a team-high 17 ground balls in a 13-8 victory at Wabash. Both totals tie for the second-most in a single game in program history.
 
Ohio Wesleyan, Women's Lacrosse – Junior defender Abbie Grogan (Louisville, KY/Kentucky Country Day) set a new Ohio Wesleyan season record with 38 caused turnovers. The junior also ranks third in program history for draw controls (78) and is tied for third for ground balls (48).
 
Wabash, Men's Outdoor Track & Field – Senior Brayden Curnutt (Kokomo, IN/Western) set a new personal record to win the 10,000-meter run at the 120th Indiana Little State Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Curnutt posted a time of 31:18.96 to outpace a field of 27 runners from NCAA Divisions I, II, and III, as well as NAIA programs. His performance was the second-fastest 10,000-meter time by an NCAC runner this season and earned him a 21-second victory over the second-place finisher from IU-East.
 
Wittenberg, Men's Outdoor Track & Field – Sophomore Lukas Rieben (Clayton, OH/Northmont) set a new personal record in the 5,000-meter run, finishing third with a time of 15:06.41 at the John Homon Open. His performance currently ranks first in the conference.
 
Wooster, Women's Golf – Senior Ally Siewert (Northfield, OH/Nordonia) set two program records at the IU-Kokomo Spring Shootout over the weekend. Siewert notched her 28th top-10 finish, a new program record, and now owns the most career rounds played in Wooster history with 74. She finished third in the 55-player tournament with a score of 159, marking her 23rd career third-place finish, which is five more than the previous program record.
