Wooster junior
Jack Spring (Pflugerville, TX/Brentwood Chrstian) was named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week and selected as the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division III Pitcher of the Week, announced Wednesday, April 16th.
Spring’s week was headlined by a nine-inning, five-hit shutout in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Wittenberg, which ran the program’s winning streak to 12 games. He struck out seven and retired 15 straight Tigers, starting with the second out of the first inning. Spring worked 13 shutout innings in total for the week, starting with a four-inning relief appearance in a 7-6 win at DePauw University on April 7. Spring allowed just seven hits over the 13 innings and struck out 15.
Spring is Wooster’s fifth national player of the week in the 23 years the NCBWA has awarded weekly honors at the Division III level. He is the program’s first Pitcher of the Week since
Kyle Cunningham-Rhoads in 2012.
This marks the third week of national recognition for the NCAC by D3baseball.com and the conference’s first selection by the NCBWA this season.
