OWU's Smith Named to USILA Team of the Week 4/23/2025 2:00:00 PM Share: Ohio Wesleyan junior midfielder Garrett Smith (Fishers, IN/Hamilton Southeastern) was named to the USILA Men's Lacrosse Team of the Week, announced Wednesday, April 23. Smith, this week’s NCAC Men’s Lacrosse Athlete of the Week, delivered an impressive performance last week, netting nine goals on just 13 shots to help the Battling Bishops secure a pair of key NCAC wins. In a 14-11 road victory over Kenyon, Smith tallied five goals, including the go-ahead score with 6:43 remaining in the fourth quarter. After the Owls narrowed the margin to 12-11, he answered with two goals just 29 seconds apart to put the game out of reach. Smith followed that effort with four goals in a 19-12 win against Oberlin, three of which came during a decisive 5-0 third-quarter run after the Yeomen had cut the deficit to two at 10-8. The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) recognizes top performers from across the country each week, highlighting student-athletes who deliver exceptional efforts on the field. This marks the fifth time this season that student-athletes from the NCAC have earned national recognition.
