Wooster Cruises Past Hope in NCAA First Round

Wooster opened the 2025 NCAA Division III Tournament with a 20–9 win over Hope College on Friday afternoon at John P. Papp Stadium in Wooster, Ohio. The victory marked the team’s 17th of the season and the program’s first NCAA Tournament win.

  • The Fighting Scots wasted no time setting the tone, scoring the game’s first two goals and racing out to a 9–1 lead by the end of the first quarter. Wooster’s offensive unit was in sync from the opening draw, with eight different players scoring in the win and six recording multiple points.
  • Senior attacker Brynne Snaguski (Palos Verdes Estates/Palos Verdes Peninsula), junior midfielder Bella Woodbury (Wilbraham, MA/Minnechaug Regional), and junior midfielder Lizzie Hardy (Gibsonia, PA/Aquinas Academy of Pittsburgh) paced the attack with four goals apiece. Additionally, Snaguski and Woodbury each dished out two assists, while Hardy added a team-high five draw controls and four ground balls. Senior midfielder Kaitlyn McBride (Westerville, OH/Westerville South) chipped in two goals and two assists and was a factor on both ends of the field, recording three caused turnovers and two draw controls.
  • Wooster held a 36-24 advantage in total shots and outpaced Hope in ground balls (18-12) and clears (18-for-21). The Scots also capitalized on free-position opportunities, converting three of eight, and went a perfect 7-for-7 on extra-player chances. Defensively, they forced 21 turnovers and limited Hope to just one goal in both the first and third quarters.
  • Senior goalie Audrey Richardson (Southborough, MA/Algonquin Regional) earned the win in the cage, finishing with five saves to improve to 17–3 on the season.
  • Hope (13–6) was led by Julia Brown’s five goals and one assist. Sydney Laprairie added two goals, while Kerrigan Brown handed out three assists.
  • With the victory, Wooster advances to the NCAA second round and will face No. 21 University of Chicago on Saturday, May 10, at 3:00 p.m. back at John P. Papp Stadium.
