Denison Advances, Wooster Falls in NCAA Women's Lacrosse Tourney

GRANVILLE, OH/YORK, PA - Denison women’s lacrosse collected a dominant 20-7 victory over Carthage, while Wooster fell 14-7 to York in the second round of the 2026 NCAA Division III Women’s Lacrosse Championship.
 
The Big Red now advance into the third round for the eighth-consecutive season and will take on Christopher Newport. The date, time and location of the third-round matchup will be released once all second-round matches are complete.
 
DENISON 20, CARTHAGE 7
  • Twelve different Denison players scored a goal as the Big Red rolled past Carthage 20-7 on Sunday at Kienzle-Hylbert Stadium.
  • Denison wasted no time setting the tone, scoring the first seven goals of the game in a dominant opening quarter. Grayson O'Marra (Bethesda, MD/Bethesda Chevy Chase) opened the scoring on an assist from Madison Goldstein (Lutherville, MD/Roland Park County School), and Finlay Harmon (Towson, MD/Towson) got on the board moments later. Harmon would go on to net all three of her goals in the period, including a man-up free position score, while MK Barnhart (Rehoboth Beach, DE/The Hill School) and Emersen Thompson (   Baltimore, MD/Garrison Forest) also chipped in to send the Big Red to the second quarter up 7-0.
  • Carthage got on the board early in the second on a free-position goal, but Denison kept rolling. O'Marra added a free-position score, Anie Savarese (Wilton, CT/Wilton) netted off a feed from Bridget Sheehy (Pawleys Island, SC/Westminster), and Ellie Muldoon's (Bethesda, MD/Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart) tally off a Harmon assist made it 10-2 at halftime.
  • Denison extended the cushion to 14-4 by the end of the third quarter behind goals from Sophie Davenport (Chatham Township, NJ/Chatham), Mary Martinson (Concord, NH/Concord), Sheehy on the man-up, and Addie Clift (Alexandria, VA/West Potomac) on a free position attempt.
  • The Big Red continued to roll in the fourth, scoring six more goals to put the game out of reach. Hana Asghari (Glenview, IL/New Trier Township) netted three goals in the period, two of them off feeds from Clift, while Thompson, Muldoon and Jamie Epstein (Savannah, GA/Walton) each added their own.
  • Thompson, Asghari and Harmon each finished with three goals to lead the offensive attack. Clift had a five-point performance with one goal and four assists, and Sheehy added a goal and three assists. Muldoon and O'Marra each chipped in two goals.
  • In net, Julianne Henigan (Maplewood, NJ/Columbia) earned the win with three saves over 45 minutes of action, while Kaylyn Kirrane (Brookline, MA/Brookline) and Cate Dannahey (Alexandria, VA/The Potomac School) each saw time in relief. Denison dominated the draw circle 19-10 and outshot Carthage 33-15.
YORK 14, WOOSTER 7
  • Brynne Snaguski (Rolling Hills Estates, CA/Palos Verdes Peninsula) scored three goals and Audrey Richardson (Southborough, MA/Algonquin Regional) stopped 17 shots in net for Wooster, which fell 14-7 to No. 9 York on Sunday in Pennsylvania.
  • The Fighting Scots trailed 1-0 after the first quarter and went to work in the second. Lizzie Hardy (Gibsonia, PA/Aquinas Academy of Pittsburgh) tied the game with an unassisted strike before Snaguski added her first of the day to keep Wooster within one at 2-3. Hardy struck again on a man-up free position goal to pull within two at 3-5, and Cassidy Driscoll (Irvine, CA/Orange Lutheran) capped the half with a man-down free position score in the final 1:12 to send Wooster into the break trailing 8-4.
  • York extended the lead to 11-4 with three goals in the third, but Wooster came out aggressive in the fourth. Snaguski netted back-to-back goals, the second assisted by Rowan Pilon (Deep River, CT/Valley Regional), and Pilon added a strike of her own to pull Wooster within four at 11-7 with about eight minutes to play.
  • Snaguski's three-goal afternoon led the Scots, while Hardy added two, and Driscoll and Pilon each found the back of the net. Pilon also contributed an assist, while Mizan Jacobs (Santa Fe, NM/Santa Fe Preparatory) paced the team with four draw controls.
  • Richardson stopped 17 of the 31 shots she faced in a sustained effort against an explosive York attack.
