SALISBURY, MD - SECOND ROUND: Dickinson 8, Denison 7 (OT)
  • Denison rallied from a three-goal deficit to force overtime in Saturday’s NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse Tournament second-round matchup, but the comeback fell just short as the Big Red dropped a hard-fought 8–7 contest to Dickinson.
  • The Big Red opened the scoring in the first quarter, as junior Kevin Berutich (Fishers, INCathedral) connected off a pass from sophomore Liam Gillard (Minneapolis, MN/Totino-Grace). Dickinson responded with a pair of goals to take the lead, but Denison pulled even before the end of the frame when senior Tommy Quinson (Rye Brook, NY/Brunswick School) scored to make it 2–2.
  • Dickinson controlled the second quarter, netting four goals while limiting the Big Red to just one. Quinson provided Denison’s lone second-quarter tally, his second of the day, off an assist from Berutich. At the half, the Big Red trailed 6–3.
  • Denison cut into the deficit in the third, as junior Macky Peck (Naples, FL/Western Reserve Academy) scored off a feed from senior Jack Hines (Charlotte, NC/Episcopal). Dickinson added one more to push its lead to 7–4 heading into the final quarter.
  • In the fourth, Denison seized momentum. Sophomore Brady Monturio (Weymouth, MA/Thayer Academy) scored first, finishing off a pass from senior Collin Murphy (Sudbury, MA/Lincoln-Sudbury Regional) to bring the Big Red within two. Quinson followed with his third of the game on a man-up opportunity, again assisted by Murphy, to make it a one-goal game. Moments later, Peck delivered the equalizer, tying things up at 7–7 with under four minutes remaining. Denison generated a few more offensive chances down the stretch, but the game moved to overtime.

  • Quinson, Peck, and Monturio each tallied two goals for Denison, while Murphy dished out a pair of assists. Junior Andrew Albert (Weston, CT/The Hill School (PA)) anchored the defense with several key saves to keep the Big Red in the game.
ROCHESTER, NY - SECOND ROUND: St. John Fisher 17, Ohio Wesleyan 16
  • Ohio Wesleyan faced a tightly contested battle in the NCAA second round, going toe-to-toe with St. John Fisher in a high-scoring affair. Despite a late rally and multiple lead changes, the Battling Bishops came up just short, falling 17–16 in a thrilling postseason showdown.
  • The Bishops found early success offensively, responding quickly after an opening man-up goal by the Cardinals. Junior Will Siegenthaler (Elmhurst, IL/York), sophomore Wade Beckstrom (Devon, PA/Conestoga), and junior Garrett Smith (Fishers, IN/Hamilton Southeastern) each tallied first-quarter goals to help OWU build a 4-2 lead, before St. John Fisher closed the period with a late goal to make it 4-3.
  • In the second quarter, OWU continued to battle as sophomore Henry Ross (Snoqualmie, WA/Mount Si) connected twice with both assists from senior Carson Geier (Milford, OH/Milford) and Smith added another goal off a feed from senior Joey Wiseman (Powell, OH/Olentangy Liberty). A late Fisher run briefly swung momentum before senior Brady Hunt (Maineville, OH/Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy) cut the deficit to 9-8 with a goal in the final seconds of the half.
  • The third quarter proved to be a shootout, with both teams exchanging blows. Siegenthaler scored his second and third goals of the afternoon, while Beckstrom and Ross assisted each other on goals. Geier netted the final OWU goal of the quarter to help the Bishops take a 13-12 lead before two late Fisher goals gave the Cardinals a 14-13 edge heading into the fourth.
  • In the final 15 minutes, Ohio Wesleyan continued to push. After falling behind 17-14, the Bishops rallied with a goal from senior Anthony Fresolone (Marblehead, MA/Kimball Union Academy (NH)), assisted by sophomore Dean Shacklett (Philadelphia, PA/Germantown Academy), followed by Beckstrom’s man-up goal from Hunt with 1:21 left to pull within one. OWU pressed for an equalizer but ultimately ran out of time.
  • Senior goalkeeper Nathan George (Gainesville, VA/Battlefield) battled throughout, making 10 saves while facing consistent pressure from a potent St. John Fisher offense.
