For the second-consecutive season, the Denison women’s lacrosse coaching staff has been named the 2025 NCAA Division III Great Lakes Region Coaching Staff of the Year by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA), announced on Wednesday, June 18. This is the fifth time that the Big Red leadership has earned an IWLCA Regional Coaching Staff of the Year honor since 2016.
Head coach
Amanda Daniels, who just completed her 12th season at the helm, was joined on the sidelines by assistant coaches
Maddie Morrell and
Tori Vernau. Together, the trio guided the Big Red to a 16-5 overall record this past spring, including a perfect 6-0 mark in conference play. Denison secured its 24th NCAC title, along with its third-consecutive and 10th overall NCAC Tournament title. The Big Red earned the conference’s automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Tournament to make their 27th appearance and advanced into the round of eight for the first time since 2021. Nine Denison players garnered All-NCAC recognition this season, including sweeps of the Offensive Player of the Year and Midfielder of the Year awards. Other individual accolades included six student-athletes being selected to the IWLCA All-Region Teams and four achieving All-American honors.
Over her 12-year tenure and 11 competitive seasons (2020 was shortened due to COVID-19), Daniels has led Denison to seven NCAC titles, nine conference tournament championships, 11-consecutive NCAA Tournament bids, and a national semifinal appearance (2021).
