Denison head women's basketball coach
Maureen Hirt earned the WeCoach Coach of the Month honor for March, announced by the organization on April 1.
In her fourth year leading the Big Red, Hirt guided Denison to a 30-2 record, the most wins in program history, and the program's first NCAA Division III national championship. The Big Red defeated Scranton 55-41 in Salem, Virginia, to claim the title, becoming the second NCAC women’s basketball program to win a Division III national championship.
Denison won five of six NCAA tournament games by double digits and defeated two previously undefeated teams along the way. In the championship game, the Big Red held Scranton to a season-low point total and kept the Royals below their season averages in scoring, field goal percentage, and three-point percentage.
Hirt also earned the D3hoops.com Region 7 Coach of the Year honor and was named a finalist for the WBCA Division III Coach of the Year award this season.
