Denison Softball Set for NCAA Regional in Texas 5/11/2026 11:46:58 AM Share: INDIANAPOLIS, IN – After winning the 2026 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Tournament, Denison (20-19) has punched its ticket to the NCAA Division III Softball Championship. The Big Red earned the conference’s automatic bid following a dominant postseason run that included entering the tournament as the No. 3 seed and winning games over No. 2 DePauw (10-1, 5 inn.) and No. 1 Wittenberg (6-3, 4-3). Denison will compete in the regional round hosted by East Texas Baptist (37-4) in Marshall, Texas, beginning Thursday, May 14. The four-team, double-elimination regional will also feature Rowan (36-8) and St. Thomas (TX) (30-10). Action gets underway Thursday with the Big Red facing East Texas Baptist and Rowan taking on St. Thomas (TX). Times for both games are to be determined. East Texas Baptist earned its spot in the national tournament by winning the American Southwest Conference (ACS) Tournament Championship, while Rowan advanced by capturing the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) tourney title and St. Thomas received an at-large selection out of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC). Denison is 0-1 against East Texas Baptist after the two teams met up for the first time this season with the Tigers claiming a 4-0 win. The Big Red hold a 2-1 edge over the Profs, last playing in 2008, and have never matched up with St. Thomas (TX), setting up a potential first-ever meeting between the two programs. This marks Denison’s seventh NCAA tournament appearance. The Big Red hold a 9-12 all-time record (.429) in national postseason play. East Texas Baptist is making its 19th appearance and owns a 47-33 record (.588), while Rowan enters the postseason for the 32nd time with a 84-68 mark (.552) and St. Thomas (TX) makes its third appearance with a 3-4 record (.429). The winner of the regional will move on to the Super Regional round, scheduled for May 21-22. The NCAA Division III Finals will be held May 28-June 3 with City of Salem and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) playing host at Moyer Sports Park in Salem, Virginia.
