GRANVILLE, OH -- The Kenyon men and women lead in the team standings following day three of competition at the 2022 NCAC Swimming & Diving Championships, held at Denison's Trumbull Aquatics Center. The Lords won five of the seven events contested on Friday night and have now compiled 1,368.5 points over the first three days of action, while the Ladies won the 200-medley relay and three individual events to remain on top the team standings with 1,256 points. 

The Denison men collected two more conference titles on Friday night and sit in second in the team standings with 1,334.5 total points. Wabash currently sits in third with 716 points, followed by DePauw (617), Wooster (606.5), Oberlin (454.5), Allegheny (407.5), Ohio Wesleyan (311.5), Wittenberg (207) and Hiram (205). On the women's side, Denison won two events on the evening and sits in second with 1,168 points, followed by DePauw (760), Wooster (629), Oberlin (489), Ohio Wesleyan (432), Allegheny (375), Hiram (234) and Wittenberg (222).

Night three opened with the Denison 200-medley relay quartet of seniors Liam Picozzi (Ballston Spa, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) and Ethan Bevill (Lookout Mountain, GA/McCallie School), junior Trey Ike (Horseheads, NY/The Peddie School) and freshman Elijah Venos (Pleasant Ridge, MI/Brother Rice) logged an NCAA "B" cut time of 1:28.01. In the first individual event of the night, the 400 IM, junior Bryan Fitzgerald (West Bend, WI/West Bend East) touched the wall first in an NCAA "B" cut time of 3:51.20 to break the NCAC record that he previously set in 2020. Kenyon recorded a one-two finish in the 100 butterfly with senior David Fitch (Conway, MA/Williston Northampton) outpacing the field to capture his second title in the event with an NCAA "B" cut time of 47.51. The Lords then earned first, second and a share of third in the 200 freestyle with junior Yurii Kosian (Odesa, Ukraine/Odesa School 101) posting an NCAA "B" cut time of 1:39.44 for the win. Kenyon classmate Luis Weekes (St. Thomas, Barbados/Baylor School) topped the championship field with an NCAC record and NCAA "B" cut time of 54.35 in the 100 breaststroke to claim his second-consecutive crown in the event. Denison's Picozzi won his second-consecutive 100 backstroke title with an NCAA "B" cut time of 48.56, while Kenyon took over the lead in the team standings with six of the top eight finishers in the event. In the final event of Friday night, Kenyon sophomore Israel Zavaleta (Mexico City, Mexico/Universidad del Valle de Mexico) completed a clean sweep in the diving well, winning the one-meter competition with a regional-qualifying score of 483.65.

In the first women's event on Friday night, the Kenyon team of junior Olivia Smith (Spanish Fort, AL/Daphne) and freshmen Jennah Fadely (Siler City, NC/Jordan Matthews), Celia Ford (Silver Spring, MD/Albert Einstein) and Emmie Mirus (Madison, WI/West) topped the field in the 200-medley relay with an NCAA "B" cut time of 1:41.82. Denison recorded a one-two finish in the 400 IM with sophomore Esme Wright (Cincinnati, OH/Walnut Hills) earning the NCAC title in an NCAA "B" cut time of 4:23.09, giving the Big Red their fourth-consecutive crown in the event. Kenyon senior Crile Hart (Pepper Pike, OH/Hawken School) touched the wall first in the 100 fly in an NCAA "B" cut time of 53.40 to break the NCAC record that she previously set in 2020, earning her second-consecutive and third overall title in the event. Denison freshman Taryn Wisner (Syracuse, NY/Westhill) earned the 200 free title with an NCAA "B" cut time of 1:49.36. Kenyon's Fadely broke the four-year streak of Denison by reaching the wall first with an NCAA "B" cut time of 1:01.37 in the 100 breaststroke. In the final swimming event on Friday, Kenyon's Smith climbed to the top of the podium for her second-consecutive 100 backstroke crown as she recorded an NCAA "B" cut time of 55.03.
