Brayden Curnutt (Kokomo, IN/Western) and DePauw Cross Country Head Coach
Kori Stoffregen earned regional honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), announced Tuesday, November 19. Curnutt was named the Great Lakes Men’s Runner of the Year while Stoffregen earned Women’s Coach of the Year honors.
Curnutt won the individual title at the Great Lakes Region Championships after finishing the 8,000-meter course in 24:36.9. The senior finished the championship race 11.1 seconds ahead of second place. Additionally, Curnutt took top individual honors at the NCAC Cross Country Championships after besting the competition with a time of 25:23.7, 5.3 seconds ahead of the second place finisher.
Stoffregen, in his 29th year as head coach at DePauw, led the Tigers to the program’s first NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Title after totaling 91 points, just three points ahead of the defending-regional champion Calvin. At the NCAC Cross Country Championships, Stoffregen also guided DePauw to its first program title after collecting just 26 points.
Curnutt and DePauw earned automatic bids to the NCAA Cross Country Championships after bringing home their respective titles. This year's meet takes place Saturday, November 23, at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, Indiana, with the women's meet set for 11:00 a.m. while the men’s meet will begin at 12:00 p.m. ET.
