Curnutt & Porter Lead NCAC Runners at Nationals

TERRE HAUTE, IN - The DePauw women’s cross country team and four individual NCAC runners competed at the NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Cross Country National Championships on Saturday, November 23. The championships were held at LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, Indiana, hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.

Wabash senior Brayden Curnutt (Kokomo, IN/Western) was the highest finisher of all NCAC competitors, he earned USTFCCCA All-America status after crossing the line in 24:30.1 to place 18th out of 294 racers in the men’s 8K. Also representing the NCAC in the men’s race were Oberlin senior Walter Moak (Charlottesville, VA/Western Albemarle HS) and Wittenberg senior Conor Kolka (Dexter, MI/Dexter). Moak placed 144th in 25:27.1, while Kolka finished in 163rd in a time of 25:33.3.

In the women’s 6K, the DePauw squad was led by senior Sophie Porter (Westfield, IN/Westfield), who finished in 56th out of 293 runners in a time of 21:59.8, while Ohio Wesleyan sophomore Zoe Ward (Columbus, OH/Worthington Christian) was the second NCAC runner to cross, earning 114th in a time of 22:26.8. Senior Lily Monnett (Cloverdale, IN/Cloverdale) was the second Tiger to finish, placing 167th (22:45.3), while senior Brynn Urban (Fishers, IN/Fishers) took 169th (22:45.9) and sophomore Grace Thomas (Valparaiso, IN/Valparaiso) earned 199th (23:00.3). Senior Kendall Mann (New Palestine, IN/New Palestine), sophomore Grace Flores (Boerne, TX/Boerne-Samuel V. Champion) and junior Amzie Maienbrook (Rensselaer, IN/Rensselaer Central) rounded out the DePauw racers finishing in 265th (23:47.6), 266th (23:48.0) and 267th (23:49.5). 

Christian Patzka of Wis.-Whitewater was named the men's cross country individual national champion after crossing the line in a time of 24:01.6, while Faith Duncan of Wilmington earned the women's individual national champion title finishing in a time of 20:16.5. Wis.-La Crosse won the 2024 Division III Men's Cross Country National Championship title, while MIT brought home the women's championship team title.
